A carol service with performances from APA Tutti Voices and Stavanger Gospelkoret Abraham will be held at the Castlegate prior to the switch-on where the Lord Provost of Aberdeen and the Deputy Mayor of Stavanger will light up the beautiful spruce.

Aberdeen’s Christmas lights will be switched on in a festive themed parade led by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WOODEN SCULPTURE TRAILSunday 1 - Tuesday 24 December - FREE

Twelve unique and striking totem pole sculptures have been located across the city centre for you to find and solve the Christmas puzzle. Created by local chainsaw wood carver Gary Shand, the carvings depict the popular carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas. Join the fun by downloading the trail sheet from www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/christmas and use the letters found on each sculpture to reveal the Christmas answer. Use the hashtag #ABDN12days to share your photos of you completing the trail.

Sing your favourite carols to the accompaniment of the Bon Accord Silver Band and Coro Piccolo. The Granite City Chorus will provide entertainment as you arrive and The Friends of Duthie Park will be accepting food bank donations in aid of CFINE.

HOGMANAY CELEBRATIONSSchoolhill - Tuesday 31 December, from 9.00pm Fireworks at midnight - FREE

Bring in the bells this year at the ultimate Aberdeen street party!

Three top-class musical acts will be the focal point of Aberdeen’s Hogmanay celebrations, closing the city’s festivities in style.

Performing live on stage at Schoolhill from 9pm, the musicians will entertain the crowds on December 31 before a stunning fireworks display at the stroke of midnight.

First to perform on stage at 9pm will be a local musician, followed by the 101, culminating with One Night of Queen by Gary Mullen and The Works.

Just before midnight the music will end ready for the countdown to a unique fireworks display guaranteed to welcome in 2020 in style.

General event information

The main entrance to the event is via Schoolhill at the junction of Back Wynd and Harriet Street.

Accessibility viewing - The event is fully accessible and an area has been provided for the comfort of those with accessibility needs beside the Art Gallery.

This event is not suitable for animals with the exception of guide dogs. Please note there will be large crowds, loud music and fireworks.

In the interest of public safety please do not bring your own fireworks to this event. Fireworks are not permitted and anyone found with fireworks will have them removed.

Please do not bring glass bottles into the event space as no glass is permitted.

Bag searches will be carried out.

Please dress suitably for this event and be sure to check the weather report before leaving to attend!
