In this design proposal i was assigned to design a bridge or a connector at the cuyamaca peak through studying geometry and a hexagonal shape in different scales. the site was designed through adding and subtracting land in reference to the previous study. These geometries were extracted from the highest points to ease the movement. These particular points create areas of changing experiences throughout the enclosure.

roof design extraction

in this project the proposal was to design a historical museum in the salton lake city in california. Remember-ing the history of it and its ruins, and through the study of paintings and transparency shown on the painting model. Extraction of specific lines created the roof design using the opening and shadow reflections to start projecting the spaces and circulation in the building.

a unit prototype for a painter was proposed by researching desired spaces for painters and artists.ORIENTATION OF WALLS WERE REORIENTED TO ACCOMMODATE THE CLIENT’S USE. WALLS WE’RE ANGLED TO DIFFUSE LIGHT AND TRIMMED TO ALLOW LIGHT TO COME and work as an opening for access and ease circulation.

Studio 3Ahousing

Page 24: Abdalla Almulla's Portfolio

this design proposal focused on low-income housing in Tijuana, Mexico. The existing site conditions, demo-graphics and the geometrical configurations of an isosceles trapezoid were the main drivers for this project. The angled sides of this shape allow transfor-mation in the building facade, privacy within the units and unblocked views of their surroundings. By using a cluster of a single unit type of an isosceles trapezoid the buildings create private and public courtyards and also increase the quality of life and interaction between the members of the community.By clustering the isosceles trapezoid, two modules were created, one with three units and the other with five which Creates different sense of communities within the different clusters. The idea was to create transformation areas within the clusters for future expansion.

the proposal was to design an awning for the woodbury university, san diego entrance. common connection types were explored as a basis for the design.the connection was designed based on a stop sign post, having perforated posts with different sides determin-ing the angle. four modules were created with differ-ent lengths, positioned in a way that would be most affective for shading.

In this design proposal a formal study of vaults and structural elements were studied. Through strings and point placement shown in the picture. catenaries were created which influenced the structural form. After studying the topography, 5 points were chosen to create a structure following the topography and the shape of it.

After the structural study, the program was intro-duced Which was an aerial tram station. Studies and integration of the topography and structural elements were achieved through following the projection of the structural elements onto the topography and blend-ing them together. This allowed the structure to eventually be the floors.
