TO: All Employees FROM: Andy Jenks, Director, Communications & Public Relations DATE: September 19, 2014 SUBJECT: ABCD Award The ABCD award program recognizes support employees who go “Above and Beyond the Call of Duty” in performing their job responsibilities. Support employees include office professionals, instructional assistants, nurses, clinic attendants, school security officers, substitute teachers and most employees in nutrition services, transportation, and construction and maintenance. Winners are recognized each month (October through May) by the Superintendent and the School Board at the monthly School Board meeting and receive a monetary award presented by the Henrico Education Foundation in partnership with the Henrico Federal Credit Union. Any employee may nominate another employee for the ABCD Award. An employee’s length of service is not a factor. Nominations are on an individual basis – not for groups of employees or departments. Once nominated, employees are considered throughout the school year (October through May). Nominees are evaluated on the following criteria: made significant contributions that improved job efficiency, improved the quality of services, improved safety, or conserved resources performed a humanitarian or heroic act responded proactively by anticipating needs and solving problems without specific direction To nominate an employee, please complete the attached form and forward it to Kim Walter in Communications & Public Relations by the first Tuesday of each month (October through May). Employees should not be notified that they are being nominated until a selection is made.
