The NEW Ruby mobile shower system has been designed toshower patients who cannot access the bathroom independentlyor with assistance.

Whether incapacitated due to a critical condition, long term illness,or obesity, Ruby provides unique and uncompromising hygienelevels within the safety and comfort of the patients’ own bed.

A lightweight and waterproof sheet is positionedunderneath the patient, which then fastens to thebed’s side rails, head, and foot boards. The waterproofsheet accommodates the patient, whilst ensuring fullwater containment from the shower hose, and canbe laundered at 70ºc for re-use.

Alternatively, a low cost replacement sheet can beused as a patient specific item, or simply disposed of.There is an integrated water vacuum which transferswaste water from the sheet into a dedicated wastewater tank on the appliance, which can be drainedafter use.

Firstly, fill Ruby’s warmwater container.

Position Ruby at the end ofthe bed and selecttemperature. Press theheater button and wait forRuby to reach desiredtemperature (this takesapproximately ten minutesfrom cold).

Lay one half of the purposedesigned, double-widthtowel over the mattress, andallow the other half to restover the side rails.

Next, fit the waterproofsheet under the patient.Position the sheet as evenlyas possible using thefasteners provided, and fixto the side rails and bedends to ensure watercontainment.

The Ruby is compact and highly manoeuvrable, and issupplied with a purpose designed, double-widthdrying towel and waterproof shower sheet. Allcomponents are fully integrated into the appliancemaking it safe and user friendly. The Ruby incorporatesanti-scold protection by thermostatically controlledwater, which can be pre-set and heated to suit thepatient’s specific needs. The control panel has a simpleinterface, whilst the shower hose has a trigger, makingthe water pressure easy to control and comfortable forthe patient or care worker. The Ruby holds up to 23Litres, which is sufficient to shower a patient.

All surfaces of the Ruby are smooth, making it easy toclean and disinfect, using its built-in hand operateddisinfection applicator, located discretely at the front ofthe appliance. Reval produces its own disinfectioncleaning chemical for use when cleaning the Ruby. All hoses are easy to remove and can be thermallysterilised and replaced in minimal time.

Unclip the shower hose inreadiness to use. Then unclipthe water vacuum hose, andposition it at the lowest pointof the mattress where waterpools fastest. Remove thepatient’s clothing and checkthe waters output temperatureprior to application.

When the watertemperature has reachedthe desired pre-settemperature it can then beapplied to the patient.

With the showerprocedurecomplete thepatient can bedried and thesheet removedand stored. Thepatient can thenbe dressed.

* If Ruby is to be stored away then we advise the warm water container be draineddown. This is done in the same way as the waste water, using its dedicated drainagehose situated at the back of the appliance.

With the hygieneprocedurecomplete Rubycan then beemptied ofwaste water, and cleaned inreadiness for thenext use*.
