By now the René Jacobs versions of Così fan tutte and Le nozzedi Figaro need no introduction – both have won numerous inter-national prizes, most recently a 2005 Grammy Award for the lat-ter. Most of the CDs presented here are performed on periodinstruments: Andreas Staier’s fortepiano recital, AndrewManze’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, the piano trios by theMozartean Players. So too are the exemplary versions of theRequiem, the Mass in C minor, and the Gran Partita by PhilippeHerreweghe. Finally, the Edition gives a new lease of life toMichel Portal’s legendary interpretation of the Clarinet Quintet.
