● In your sketchbook/ journal ‘prep’ or ‘practice’ pieces should be completed to

allow you opportunity to develop, and explore a range of possible outcomes. This

exploration could include:

○ Subject matter - ‘Mavis’ is the usual model (subject) for this work, although

your teacher may provide an alternative life-model for you to work from.

○ Light Effects - Explore a few different ways that light may affect how the

life-model looks.

○ Medium - Chalk Pastels are the medium of choice for this assignment,

be sure that you demonstrate inside your sketchbook/journal thorough

explorations, techniques and methods.

○ Document/record your developments with written ‘reflective’ comments/

annotations to ‘prove’ that you understand what you are doing.
