Research This is an accumulation of research that we found at the beginning of the project. We focused on looking at both mainstream Hollywood films alongside shorter, indie films made by people not in the industry, so we could gain a look at how both handle genres and the typical conventions of them. For the research process, the main use of New Media Technology we used was the internet, with websites such as Youtube and IMDB to research films, Survey Monkey to gather audience opinions and record our results, and Blogspot to record our findings throughout the production process. The internet was a successful option to use for research as it gave us a wide variety of accessible information.https://www.surveymonkey.com/ http://www.imdb.com/ http://www.youtube.com/ http://www.blogger.com/home

PlanningFor the planning stages of our film we also heavily featured the internet as a New Media Technology. We started by typing out a list of potential ideas, then creating a mindmap (using http://www.text2mindmap.com/ ) containing a list of props that we would need for the film so that our information could be arranged more clearly.

We searched for Royalty Free music using http://incompetech.com/ which again gave us a wide variety of options.

Another New Media Technology we used was a still camera, used to take photos of the location in which we planned to film. This allowed us to plan our film in more detail, including information such as potential camera shots.

Production: Film

Our film was created using a Panasonic ag-hmc41 video camera, and boom mic for selective sound. The use of NMT in producing the film meant that the camera was lightweight and easy to transfer to the location, while also creating high quality, digital images, that made it easy to transfer the footage to a computer which improved the editing process.

Production: RadioMacs are a form of NMT that we used to record our radio advert.Audacity was the programme that we used that allowed us to complete a simple recording.Microphones were used to record the radio advert. We tried out a few different voices for the narration before settling for Adam’s.

Sound desk was used to control the volume of the microphone, and to mute the others when they weren’t being used.

The photoshoot for the main image of the poster took place in the college TV studio, using light desks and some of the test images used coloured lighting. The photos were taken using a Nikon stills camera which is another use of New Media Technologies that meant we could take multiple images, with different frames and positions within a short period of time. The digital formatting and use of SD cards meant that the pictures were easily transferable to computers to be edited.

Our film was edited on computer programmes such as Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects, while the radio avert was recorded on Audacity and edited in Premier Pro. Our poster was edited in Photoshop, which are also examples of digital technology. This way of non-linear editing meant that our products could be edited quickly, accurately and efficiently.

Evaluation

In our evaluation, we used a varied selection of NMT. The internet, as a NMT, proved a popular way of distributing our film, such as using Youtube to show the film, Soundcloud for radio, and Facebook for all of our products to gain audience feedback.

We also used New Media Technologies throughout our evaluation, such as using video responses and the TV studio equipment for audience feedback, as well as radio programmes being used for one of the questions, both of which were edited in Premier Pro.
