A Visit From The Dentist - April It is an important as apart of Kindy life to have members of our community visit the children. These are called incursions and don't require leaving the service but still provide the children valuable life skills and the opportunity to have these experiences. Today we had Miss Leah come to Kindy to talk to us about caring for our teeth. We learnt how we need to clean our teeth for two minutes a day and how it is best for our Mum and Dads to help clean our teeth until we are eight years old. We learnt that there is sometimes food that we can occasionally eat like lollies and cakes as these are not good for our teeth and then learnt about the food that are healthy choices like water, milk, cheese, apples and vegetables. Miss Leah explained to us what happens when you visit a dentist and explained that we will need to put on a pair of glasses to protect our eyes from the bright light. How cool is that? We also met Puff who showed us what to do. We looked at photos of heathy teeth and saw some photos of some not so healthy teeth that were decayed. The plaque monsters had got to those decayed teeth. Miss Leah at the end of the visit then read us a story on how to keep our teeth clean and healthy and then gave our teachers a present for us all to take home our very own toothbrush. We were so excited to go home and try out our new toothbrushes and care for our teeth. Thank you Miss Leah for coming to visit us.
