Our Programs
• Safe Haven for Pets
• Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) of Feral Cats
• Humane Educaon for the Public
A=er a one to two day recovery period, the
cats are returned to their habitat or ‘colony’
where they were living prior to being trapped.
It is expected that the humans who assisted in
trapping will connue to feed and care for
them.
TNR has been successfully implemented as a
policy in many cies, including Houston, New
York, and San Diego. It is endorsed by both
the Humane Society of the United States and
the American Society for the Prevenon of
Cruelty to Animals as the only humane
alternave to trapping and killing feral cats.
Overpopulaon: How Can You Help?
Neuter or spay your own companion cats and
encourage others to do the same. Unwanted
liEers contribute to the feral populaon as
well as the skyrockeng general cat
populaon.
If you have a feral cat problem in your area,
contact Peace for Pets. We can assist you in
trapping, or you can rent a humane trap from
us for a refundable deposit. We can also refer
you to a low- or no-cost spay/neuter clinic.
Safe Haven for Pets
We must recognize the link between
domesc violence and animal cruelty. Many
abusers use the family’s pet as a ploy to
control and/or inmidate the vicm of abuse
by threatening to cruelly harm or kill the pets.
Peace for Pets provides a “safe haven” for the
pets of individuals who are entering a
domesc violence shelter in Stark County,
Ohio. Our program provides short-term
foster care for these pets for up to 90 days,
making it easier for families to remove
themselves from the abusive situaon and get
the help that they need.
Safe Haven: How Can You Help?
We are always in need of foster homes that
can provide short-term care for the pets of
vicms entering domesc violence shelters.
Your commitment to foster is a maximum of
90 days. We expect the foster home to
provide a safe haven of food, water, shelter,
and good, old-fashioned tender loving care.
Peace for Pets provides basic medical care
including standard immunizaons, heartworm
tesng and prevenon, FIV/FEL tesng for cats,
flea and ck treatment and prevenon, de-
worming and in general, whatever the pet
needs to maintain a quality standard of health.
We know we make a difference when vicms
who shelter their families also have a ‘safe
haven’ for their pets. By alleviang the stress
of worrying about the safety of their pets, they
can beEer focus on dealing with the issues at
hand and making a beEer life for themselves
and their family.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
Peace for Pets believes that TNR is the most
humane and cost-effecve means of controlling
the free-roaming cat populaon. Through TNR,
stray and feral cats are humanely trapped, and
then spayed and neutered by a veterinarian.
Addional vet services include a wellness
evaluaon, rabies vaccinaon, and an ear p —
a universal sign that this cat has been spayed or
neutered and therefore will not be re-trapped.
