Adolescent Gynecology

The Children’s Hospital Colorado received a grant in 2009 to open a new clinic with one purpose—drastically reduce pregnancy rates in girls ages 12-24. This is the BC4U clinic that happens on Mondays and Wednesdays at Wheat Ridge. This clinic offers free and confidential birth control, STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, breast exams, HPV vaccines and pap smears. We also have regular appointments with Dr. Buyers available on Thursdays.

Laboratory • We are generally available for outpatient blood draws from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30

p.m. M-F. (Some tests may require stricter timeframes, however)• Patients must have an order with ICD-10 diagnosis code listed.• Draws may be done for all blood tests with the exception of:

– Pyruvic Acid/Pyruvate– Lactic Acid/Lactate– Zinc– Heavy Metals (except Lead)

• There are tests on the “no draw list” which can actually be done at Wheat Ridge (with the exception of the 6 tests listed above). For example, we do have the Quantiferon (listed on the no draw list from 2013) testing kit, but blood needs to be drawn prior to noon Monday through Thursday in order to get the sample to the main campus laboratory within the specified time frame. Please contact Yesenia or Ariana for more information on laboratory capability.
