A Time for Meditation, Reflection

and Praise

Family Bible School 2011

We bow in prayer before Thy throne,

O God;

Help us to worship Thee,

Help us to worship Thee in spirit and in

truth.

Help us to pray, help us to praise and

hear Thy word.

HYMN 173

Look down, O Lord in mercy upon us,

And blot out all our transgressions.

O hear our prayer, accept our praise,

Forgive and bless us for Jesus’ sake,

Forgive and bless us for Jesus’ sake.

Amen

HYMN 173

“In the beginning God…”

“For thus saith the high and lofty

One that inhabiteth eternity, whose

name is Holy;

I dwell in the high and holy place …”

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, saith

Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher

than the earth, so are my ways higher

than your ways, and my thoughts than

your thoughts.”

“My glory fills the heavens …”

“I dwell in light unapproachable …”

“I am YAHWEH,

that is my name –

I am merciful and gracious,

longsuffering, and abundant in

goodness and truth, Keeping mercy

for thousands, forgiving iniquity and

transgression and sin, and that will

by no means clear the guilty…”

Reading: Psalm

103

My God, how wonderful thou art,

Thy majesty how bright!

How beautiful Thy Mercy-Seat

That shines with healing light!

HYMN 102

How wonderful, how beautiful,

The sight of Thee must be,

Thine endless wisdom,

boundless power,

And aweful purity!

HYMN 102

O, how I fear Thee, living God,

With deepest, tenderest fears,

And worship Thee with

trembling hope,

And penitential tears!

HYMN 102

My God, how wonderful thou art,

Thy majesty how bright!

How beautiful Thy Mercy-Seat

That shines with healing light!

HYMN 102

“without form and

void…”

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundations?”

“The light shined in

darkness, and the

darkness comprehended

it not!”

“Have you ever given orders to the

morning?”

“Hast thou entered

into the treasures

of the snow?”

“For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth...”

“… likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.”

“By the breath of God

frost is given … He

scattereth the hoar frost

like ashes”

“… stormy wind fulfilling his word.”

“He loads the clouds with moisture …”

“… he scatters his

lightning through them

…”

“At His direction they swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do

whatever He commands them.”

“O Yahweh our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens ... When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

HYMN 110

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the works Thy hand has made;

I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

HYMN 110

When through the woods and forest glades

I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,

And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

HYMN 110

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,

Sent him to die – I scarce can take it in,

That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art! how great Thou art!

“God has made it plain unto us. For since

the creation of the world God’s invisible

qualities - His eternal power and Divine

nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that we are without excuse.”

“And God said, Let the

waters under the heaven

be gathered together unto

one place, and let the dry

land appear: and it was

so. And God called the

dry land Earth; and the

gathering together of the

waters called he Seas: ...”

“… and God

saw that it wasgood.”

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed,

and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself,

upon the earth: and it was so: …”

“… and God

saw that it wasgood.”

“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth,

which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind,…”

“and the fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament …

“… and God

saw that it wasgood.”

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,

cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was

so…”

“… and God

saw that it wasgood.”

“And God said …

Let us make man in our image, and after

our likeness: and let them have dominion

… male and female created He them and

God blessed them …”

HYMN 103

My God, I thank Thee,

who hast made the earth so bright,

So full of purity and joy, and wondrous light;

So many glorious things are here, divinely right.

HYMN 103

I thank Thee, too,

that Thou hast made our joys abound;

So many gentle thoughts and deeds engird us

round;

That in the darkest spot on earth –

some love is found.

HYMN 103

I thank Thee, Lord,

that Thou hast kept the best in store;

I have enough, yet not too much,

to long for more;

A yearning for a deeper peace –

not known before.

HYMN 103

I thank Thee, Lord, that here our souls,

though amply blest,

Can never find, although they seek,

a perfect rest –

Nor ever shall until they are by Christ confessed.

O Lord, hear my prayer

Singing Group

Thou hast known me …

“Thou hast known me”

Thou knowest when I sit down

and rise up

“Thou hast known me”

Thou art acquainted with all my ways

… even the hairs of our head are all numbered …

“Thou hast known me”

… in Him we live and move and have our being …

“Thou hast known me”

… He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world …

“I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully

made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul

knoweth right well”

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward

you, saith Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and

not of evil, to give you an expected end”

“… He is able to do exceeding abundantly

above all that we ask or think …”

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!

how great is the sum of them!

If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand:

when I awake, I am still with thee.”

“… what God has promised,

He is able also to perform.”

“Be still,

and know that I am God”

HYMN 52

Good is our God and full of kind compassion,

Most slow to anger, plenteous in love;

Rich is His grace to all that humbly seek Him,

Boundless and endless as the heav’ns above.

HYMN 52

His love is like a father’s to his children,

Tender and kind to all who fear His name,

For well He knows our weakness

and our frailty,

He knows that we are dust,

He knows our frame.

HYMN 52

We fade and die like flow’rs that grow in beauty

Like tender grass that soon will disappear,

But evermore the love of God is changeless,

Still shown to those who look to Him in fear.

HYMN 52

High in the heavens His throne is fixed forever,

His kingdom rules o’er all from pole to pole;

Bless ye the Lord through all His wide

dominion,

Bless His most holy Name, O thou my soul.

HYMN 132

To God be the glory, great things He has done!

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

Who yielded his life – an atonement for sin,

And opened the holiest that we may go in.

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory! Great things He has done!
