EASY AND ACCESSIBLEMOUNTAIN LOCATION Travelling toThredbo is more like a tourist drive and gettingthere is a picturesque journey. Many people travelto the Snowy Mountains just to experience thespectacular views from the Kosciuszko Alpine Way.

Thredbo is between 5.5 - 6.5 hours from Sydneyand Melbourne and 2.5 hours from Canberra.

Regular flights to Canberra exist from Sydney,Melbourne and Brisbane with easy transfers toThredbo. 45 minute flights exist from Sydney toCooma and Thredbo is only 1 hour drive away. Hirecars, airport shuttle, taxis and bus services existbetween Cooma and Thredbo.

Regular coach services and charters are availableto Thredbo from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.For larger events, Thredbo has it’s own villageshuttle bus service.

A MOUNTAIN OF VENUES AWAITWhat makes Thredbo special for events is thevariety of venues available from outdoor locationsthat will inspire and invigorate to a small intimatebar or restaurant.

The Village Square is an open-air alpine malland creates a great atmosphere for outdoorperformances for up to 1000. It is also Thredbo’sretail hub offering a range of cafes, restaurants,clothing, gifts, home wares, art gallery andessential services.

The Village Green is a large grassed areasurrounded by nature with views to the top of themountain. It’s perfect for marquee, performances,stalls, presentations, picnics and sports.

The Village Concourse offers a great backdropfor parades and displays.

Kosciuszko Express Chairlift top station (2010metres) is a unique area offering endless viewsacross the spectacular mountain range and intoThredbo Valley.

Poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel is a perfectamphitheatre or entertaining area.

The barbecue bank is a lush grassed picnic areaon the banks of the beautiful Thredbo River.

Friday Flat offers a large outdoor concert areawith a gentle slope providing great acoustics forthe 400 seat Fridays Restaurant.

Thredbo’s Golf Course hugging the banks of theThredbo River is a PGA rated course and is anothergreat location.

Dead Horse Gap is only a short drive fromThredbo and in deference to its name is frequentedby the many brumbies that live in the area.

Thredbo Leisure CentreThe $6 million Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)Thredbo Leisure Centre caters for elite athletes andis also open to the public for a range ofmultisport activities or even an exhibition. Includesa 50m pool, water slide, sport hall and gymnasium.

Thredbo Community Centre and the ThredboChapel are just two more of the atmosphericvenues hidden amongst the many lodges andchalets of this surprisingly diverse village.

Eagles Nest is Australia’s highest restaurantboasting uninterrupted views of the surroundingmountain range and its best-kept secret is theGondola ride to the top, at dusk, with themagnificent pink hued alpine sunset as a backdrop.

Thredbo has a Youth Hostel (YHA) and camping isalso available close by at Ngarigo or ThredboDiggings.

THREDBO SUMMER EVENTS ANDFESTIVALS TO DATE A fantastic mix ofsuccessful summer events and festivals have beenheld annually in Thredbo since 1986.

JANUARYThredbo Blues festivals1500 - 1800 festival goers.The Thredbo Blues festival, held in January eachyear, has grown to become a well respectedboutique festival attracting between 1 500 - 1 800attendees. The festival attracts approximately 20international and local performers who play at thefestival over three days from Friday through toSunday evening; that’s over 200 hours of music!Performances can be seen at 15 unique mountainlocations including, poolside at the Thredbo AlpineHotel, Eagle’s Nest Restaurant at the top of theKosciuszko Express Chairlift, boutique mountainbars and restaurants and throughout the VillageSquare. Thredbo is transformed into a mountainhigh "Blues Town."
