SHELLFISH MARINIERE

“ West Cork to me is superb fresh seafood”

100g butter1 onion – diced2 cloves of garlic – sliced1 carrot – peeled and diced1 bulb fennel – diced 1 stick celery – diced1 tablespoon paprika100 ml cream

. elt the butter in a large shallow pan.

. weat the onion, garlic, carrot, fennel and celery until soft but not browned.

. Add the paprika, cream and wine. eason.

. Add all the shell sh and cover pan

. immer for minutes, or until the mussel and clam shells have opened.

. prinkle with dill and serve immediately.

This is really just an adaptation of mussels mariniere. It’s a very, very simple one pot wonder. ou simply put all the ingredients into a pot and put it on the heat. Once cooked, it should be served immediately, so why not bring it to the table in the pot?

This exhibition showcases the best and most original artists and craft makers in West Cork, as well as celebrating the works of the talented photographers in West Cork. There is a special energy in the landscape which has inspired artists and attracted them to West Cork for over years. As a result, West Cork has developed a glowing international reputation for the quality and originality of artwork produced in this area. The exhibition is sure to delight art lovers and visitors to West Cork alike.

THE STORY OF MILKFields Old Bakery, Townshend Street, Skibbereen/Daily/10.00am-5.00 m/FreeVisit the interactive ‘The tory of ilk’ exhibition, which will depict the various stages in the journey of milk through the ages. From onday to Friday, during school hours, the project will be devoted to West Cork school students, who will participate and engage in the many aspects of milk, from the importance of the nutrients in grass, the milking process explaining traditional methods through to modern methods, the equipment used for milking, the di erent breeds of cows, to the end product – cheeses, yogurt, butter and the by products produced. The exhibition is open to the public at weekends and each day from . . pm.

THE GARDEN OF EDEN PROJECTThe Community Orchard, behind Costcutters, o Market Street/Daily/10.00am-5.00 m/FreeThe Garden of Eden Project located in the Community Orchard is the recreation of a traditional cottage garden, a place where function and beauty combine. In past times, a functioning cottage garden would make a considerable contribution to the nances of a family. The fruit, vegetables and herbs grown, owers for the house, small scale livestock, chickens, goats and pigs would all be tted into a relatively small space. The Garden of Eden will become a permanent feature in the Community Orchard to be enjoyed and nurtured into the future.
