  • YOUTH NEWS

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name

under heaven by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12. This is

both a powerful and true statement although not popular in our

culture today. We live in a culture in which even many who pro-

fess Christianity have accepted that Jesus will accept me however I

choose to live. There is one problem with that, “repentance.”

When we come to Christ, we must yield our lives. It’s impossible

to repent and yield and then live however we want to live. When

my daughter was 5, we began discussing salvation with her and

one day in the car I said repentance is making God “boss” of our

lives. She looked at me and said, “I know daddy, that’s the part

I’m struggling with.” Wow, out of the mouths of children! Isn’t

that true for you and I today? We struggle with allowing Christ to

be Lord and boss of our lives. We constantly make decisions

without even consulting God or His Word. We constantly choose

selfish feelings, desires, thoughts, and actions in the course of eve-

ry day and often we fail to even ask for forgiveness for our sins.

Now, when we truly placed our life in God’s hands, turned from

our sins and accepted God’s gift of salvation, we are forgiven of

our sins (past, present and future). But when we sin after accept-

ing Christ, there is a break in communication with Christ and only

repentance restores that communication. Many have rewritten

God’s Word or said of sin “it’s not that bad.” Take a moment and

look at Galatians 5:19-21 and look at the sins listed. Are there sins

in that list that are worse than others? I think we tend to think of

our sins as “not as bad” as others mentioned. Look at the list and

see if some strike you as “worse” than others. There may be great-

er consequences to some sin on earth but God hates every single

one of them. I praise Jesus Christ for my salvation! Randy

    MUSIC NOTES

    A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

Nehemiah 8 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. It’s about a revival.

And in that chapter, we see all the components that are necessary if a person or a group of people are going to experience real reviv-al. An understanding of the Scriptures, recognition and confession of sin, repentance of sin, changed behavior and prayer. That’s the recipe for authentic revival in the heart of a believer.

You don’t need a tent to have revival. You don’t need a speaker to have revival. And you don’t need a week-long conference to have revival.

All you need is a child of God who recognizes that they’ve drifted from the Lord and is willing to do whatever it takes to return to Him.

This Sunday we’re going to talk about what personal revival looks like. Then, for the next several Sundays after that, we’ll examine more closely each of those components.

Our church needs revival; the national church needs revival; the global church needs revival. And the only way it will come, is when individual believers decide that they truly want it and are willing to put in the effort to receive it.

I hope you’ll do whatever is necessary to be here for this brief series. Love you, Bro. Chris
