SCENE 1

FADE IN:

EXT. SWEATSHOP - MORNING - TAIWAN

The camera follows the morning rotation of employees filinginto a massive sweat-shop in TAIWAN which manufactures APPLEproducts has just begun. Drab faces in the grey atmosphere ofurban TAIWAN smother any hints of camaraderie.

LOUD PROPAGANDA in CHINESE can be heard through the mega-phone of the SUPERVISOR.

CUT TO:

BLACKOUT.

INT. SWEATSHOP - MORNING - TAIWAN

LIN and WANG are at their work stations now, sitting lessthan five inches from one another. They are constantly beingchecked out by their SUPERVISOR.

LIN(to WANG)

Heres the book you loaned me.

WANGKeep that down, man, you knowtheres always someone watching.

LINCan I at least--

(trailing off as theSUPERVISOR comes nearthem)

Jung was saying there should be aspiritual purpose beyond materialgoals, right?

SUPERVISOR(on a mega-phone)

A good worker is rewarded by thesatisfaction he puts into his workand the collective gains for hisfellow man and that of your friendsat the Pegatron Corporation

WANG(quietly to Lin)

I think Jung was also saying, thatin order to discover and fulfillour deep innate potential, that we,I dont know, must go on some sortof a journey to transformation.Individuation - he called it. Thejourney to meet the self, and atthe same time, to meet the divine.Consciousness integrating withunconsciousness, but still, in away, retaining their relativeautonomy. Thats what he said wasnecessary for a person to becomewhole.

Just out of curiosity does thisactually mean something or havesome of the few remaining bits ofyour brain just evaporated?

WANG is cut off by a loud alarm. The entire sweat-shop stopsproduction immediately.

SUPERVISORAt this time the benevolent

managers of the PegatronCorporation request that you takethe next two hours and use them forpersonal productivity.

WANGI knew something was going tohappen today. I think its time.

The three file into a massive line of hundreds of humanspractically racing to get out of the sweat-shop. The murkyair and gloomy conditions all around are combated by signswhich promote unity in the workplace. As the trio step

outside they see a well known advocacy group, CHINA LABORWATCH, begin a surprise tour of the facilities.

INT. OFFICE BOARD-ROOM - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY

The board-room of CHINA MOBILE is impeccably clean anddisplays a view of smog-filled Beijing. When constructionstarted the owners told their Corporate Clients they would beable to see all of Beijing from their windows. Now, only afew feet are visible until views are obstructed by a green-ish/gray hue.

TIM COOKI think its important that CHINAMOBILE integrate their system tosupport our popular iPhone.

XI GUOHUA

(in English with a heavyChinese accent)This may be true Mr. Cook but Irespectfully must--

XI GUOHUA is interrupted by a young man who franticallyenters and whispers something to him in Chinese.

XI GUOHUA (CONTD)Im afraid we must re-schedule ourmeeting, Mr. Cook, with all duerespect.

CUT TO:

BLACKOUT

EXT. SWEATSHOP - ROOFTOP - DAY

LIN and WANG have broken the door to the rooftop of theirliving facility. They are on the twelfth floor and walking tothe edge of the building.

XI GUOHUA has moved to another room in order to discuss thecurrent situation in their sweat-shop in TAIWAN.

XI GUOHUAI thought you said we would havenotice the next time theseworthless--

(trailing off)

LIN and WANG sit on the edge of the building.

WANGJung said it was a completely

natural process, one that wasnecessary for the integration ofthe psyche to take place.

LINIs this really the only way for usto have freedom here?

WANGMaybe not freedom, but we might atonce be at peace with the horrorthat surrounds us.

LINIsnt there another way?

WANGNot in this lifetime.

XI GUOHUA sits alone in a massive board-room. He knows thatthe unexpected visit from CHINA LABOR WATCH will surely findviolations.

XI GUOHUA was brought on board the CHINA MOBILE team becausehe had high connections with members of various advocacygroups across CHINA and TAIWAN. He knows what now must bedone in order to prevent the shame this ordeal will bring.

LIN and WANG are still sitting on the edge of the building.Long ago the Pegatron Corporation installed nets in order toprevent suicides from roof-top jumps. But not in thisparticular place.

WANGHe said, after enlightenment, afterthe conscious bonds with theunconscious, there will be nodistinction between being alive ordead, that we live on through ouractions. That what we do today hasa direct effect on another personin every single universe.

LINIm not sure about this.

The two embrace passionately.

EXT. OUTSIDE SMOKERS AREA - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY

XI GUOHUA is alone and timidly looks down from the 24thfloor. He begins to climb the railing.

EXT. UNKNOWN RURAL CHINA - DAY

An APPLE falls elegantly falls from a distant tree. When ithits ground SCREAMS and SIRENS can be heard.
