Why Tithe with Envelopes or ParishPay?
Why is it important to actually use envelopes (or ParishPay) to make your weekly contributions rather than just putting cash into the collection basket? Because somewhere down the line you will probably come to the parish in need of contribution verification, especially for income taxes purposes or to qualify for Catholic Tuition Rates at your child’s Catholic School. We are able to track weekly donations only when our parishioners use their envelopes or utilize electronic fund transfer through ParishPay. Loose cash or checks do not get posted to our database. To have your tithing documented please be sure to use either the envelopes or ParishPay so we may properly record your contribution to the parish. When including a check in the donation envelope, please write your envelope number (which is also your Parish ID number) in the memo line of your check, as well as list the check number on the envelope. Thank you for your assistance and God bless you for your continued generosity.

Class attendance by parents and godparents must be completed in order for your baby to be Baptized. The Baptism procedures and Baptism registration forms can be easily downloaded from our website. Mass Intentions 2017 Our Reception Office is now taking Mass Intention Requests for the first quarter of 2017 (January through March), and will continue to do so until that quarter is booked. The requested donation remains $10 per Mass. For more information please contact our Reception Office. 24 Hour Adoration
Friday April 7th, is the first Friday of the Month and we will have our 24 hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that begins after the 8:00am Mass on Friday and concludes with a Benediction just before the Saturday 8:00am Mass. Because of the Stations of the Cross, we will repose the Blessed Sacrament between 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Also there will be no Holy Hour on April.
Fridays in Lent
Each Friday in Lent, we will offer a Dinner and the opportunity to pray the Stations of the Cross. Each week, dinner will be served between 5:00pm and 7:00pm.
The Stations in English will be offered at 5:30pm and in Spanish at 7:00pm.

Professional Eastern European Beggars
Beware! There is an organization of Eastern European Beggars in our area. These people do NOT need your help, In fact, they are very wealthy. These people bring their small children and/or their pregnant wives and have them stand in the hot sun or the cold rain asking for money from people with big hearts. We have been advised to not give them money and avoid any contact with them as they are violent towards anyone who disrupts their “business”. We have also been notified to contact Lake Forest PD . Please help us by not giving them anything, these people do not deserve your compassion.

Save the Date 25th Annual Bishop William Johnson Council Charity Golf Tournament
Hosted by the Santiago's Knights of Columbus Council 9487 This event is open to all parishioners, families, and
friends. The tournament this year has changed venue and will be Sunday June 11th with a 1pm shotgun start at
Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita. This year we will have an exciting community-

RCIA/RICA
This Sunday the RCIA/RICA community will be reading and celebrating the “Man Born Blind Parable”. This is the 2nd Scrutiny for our Elect formerly known as the unbaptized. When Bishop Van “elected” them for baptism, each signed his/her name in our book of elections. This book is prominently displayed at our baptism font, take a minute to read the names and pray for all of them as the journey toward the Easter Vigil April 15th.

Lenten Regulations.
(Adapted from a directive from the Diocese)
Lent begins this Wednesday, March 1 with Ash Wednesday. Lent offers us the opportunity to prepare for the celebration of Easter. In a particulate way during Lent, we are asked to devote ourselves to the spiritual and corporal works of mercy that remind us that faith finds expression in concrete everyday actions meant to help our neighbors in body and spirit.
1) Everyone 14 years of age and older is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent. If for some serious reason a person must eat meat on one of these days, some other form of self-sacrifice should be performed.
2) Everyone who is at least 18 years of age and not yet 60 is bound to also fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
a. On these two days of fast only one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals on these days is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.
b. When health of ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige.
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
The church slowly developed customs of reserving some portion of the eucharistic sacrifice for the sake of the dying. Today’s custom of placing this portion in a tabernacle for prayer and adoration by the faithful cannot be traced back much beyond the year 1,000, much to almost everyone’s surprise. There is simply no historical evidence of the Blessed Sacrament being present in a church for the purpose of having the faithful visit it or pray before it earlier in the church’s history. People did visit, of course, but the center of their attention was the altar, symbol of Christ’s sacrifice and the touchpoint between heaven and earth. Shrines and devotional altars abounded in medieval churches, but anything we might describe as a Blessed Sacrament chapel would be hard to find.
Amazingly, the Eucharist was first kept in private houses for the purpose of Holy Communion at home. As for church, the custom gradually developed of suspending a vessel shaped like a dove somewhere in the church, often over the altar. In the hovering bird, a few hosts, enough to satisfy the pastoral needs of the dying, would be secreted. The priest would lower the dove on a pulley as needed, but it wasn’t a focus of devotion by visitors to the church. It was simply a way of reassuring bishops who were nervous about safeguarding the Eucharist. The dove solution caught on in England and France after Crusaders came in contact with the custom in their travels in the Orthodox East.

Bible Study This week is the last lesson of “women of the Old
Testament”. We complete the story of Esther. She is a beautiful young Jewish woman who is raised to great power. Initially, she is passive, accepting the instructions and guidance of others,
submitting to whatever is expected of her. The threatened destruction of her people
is the crisis, which brings her to full development. Through her God has once again restored the life of the covenant people. Next week is our Seder Meal and Pot Luck celebration. For Bible Study information, please call

Friends in Faith Hello friends, we will not be meeting in March. we will re-sume our meetings April 18th at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall.
ADULT CONFIRMATION
Are you or someone you know a Baptized adult catholic that for whatever reason was not confirmed? If you are 18 years of age or older and have a copy of your Baptismal Certificate come join us in an exciting seven-week program that focuses on the Sacrament of Confirmation, it’s close connection to Baptism and a more intimate understanding of Eucharist. You will need a practicing catholic (Baptized, Confirmed, and if Married in a Catholic Liturgy) as a sponsor. Running parallel to this program is an identical program in Spanish.
Registration will be Sunday, April 2nd from 3pm until 6pm. The registration fee is $85 and proof of a catholic Baptism is required. The class meets on Thursday evenings from 7pm until 9pm; however, the first meeting on April 20th will begin at 6pm to accommodate late registrations. All subsequent Thursday evening meetings from April 20th through June 1st will begin at 7pm and end at 9pm. the program will end with one half day retreat from 8am until 12pm Saturday June 2nd. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Pentecost Sunday June 3rd.
Given that this course is short and intense, you must attend ALL classes.

RCIA/RICA
Last Saturday morning and at several Masses on Sunday our faith community was reminded of their responsibility in helping to bring new people into full inclusion with the Catholic Faith at the Easter Vigil.
Saturday At the 8:00am Mass the English Speaking unbaptized class, received the blessing of our community through the recitation of the Nicene Creed.
Sunday At the 8:30am Mass the English Baptized recognized sin exists beyond Baptism and accepted Reconciliation restores our relationship with God. This the Penitential Rite.
Sunday At the 1:45pm Spanish Mass the Baptized recognized sin exists beyond Baptism and accepted Reconciliation corrects our relationship with God. This the Penitential Rite.
Sunday At the 6:00pm the Spanish speaking unbaptized class, received the blessing of our community through the recitation of the Nicene Creed.
Please hold all of these Elect and Candidates in your prayers as they journey closer to the Easter Vigil.

It’s that time again to gather up your recyclables for our monthly collection. For those of you who have not stopped to donate we welcome you and need your recyclables! Remember your donations help those who are in need. Please bring your aluminum cans, newspapers (all types of paper including junk mail and architectural drawings), books, magazines, glass jars and bottles, plastics (water bottles, milk bottles, etc.) You can also drop off any of these recyclables during the week. Just open the gate and leave them in the designated area at the end of the trailer. Look for the recycling sign.

Estudio de la Biblia en Español Esta semana comenzaremos a estudiar las cartas de san Pablo a los Romanos,
capítulo 6. Estaremos estudiando acerca de:
“Si hemos muerto con Cristo también viviremos con Él”.

Bodas Comunitarias Las próximas Bodas Comunitarias serán
el sábado 17 de junio de 2017.
Y el retiro de parejas, será el:
domingo 7 de mayo de 2017, de 9 am a 5 pm.
El retiro también es para parejas que deseen participar y quieran un cambio positivo en sus relaciones como matrimonio. El costo para las parejas que no se casarán en las Bodas Comunitarias es de $40.oo por pareja.

Viernes de Cuaresma
Acompáñanos todos los viernes de Cuaresma a las 7 pm en la iglesia, a caminar junto a Jesús el Camino de la Cruz, rezando juntos el Via Crucis de Nuestro Señor.
Te invitamos también a que vengas a cenar antes del Vía Crucis y compartas con tu comunidad parroquial en las Cenas de Cuaresma. Cada viernes de 5:00 a 7:00 pm un ministerio diferente de nuestra parroquia cocinará para la familia parroquial.

Te invitamos a participar de la clase para prepárate a recibir el sacramento de Confirmación el día de Pentecostés. Las clases inician el 20 de abril y serán los jueves a las 7 de la noche (el primer día se comenzará a las 6 pm). Las inscripciones estarán abiertas a partir del domingo 2 de abril de 3 pm a 6 pm, solo necesitas tu certificado de bautismo, una donación de $85 y un padrino, quien debe ser un católico practicante. Via Crucis Viviente
Acompáñanos este viernes 31 de marzo a las 7 pm a caminar el “Camino de nuestro Señor Jesús hacia la Cruz” en una representación en vivo con actores de nuestra comunidad parroquial. ¡Te esperamos!

¿Pecador? o ¿Pescador? Por: Diácono Humberto Ramírez
Jesús vio a Pedro y a Andrés su hermano, echando una red al mar, porque eran pescadores. Y les dijo: Síganme, y yo los haré pescadores de Hombres. Entonces ellos, de-jando al instante las redes, lo siguieron…… (Mateo 4, 19-20). Pedro y su hermano Andrés eran pescadores. Jesús los llamo y los convirtió en pescadores de hombres. Entre la palabra pecador y pescador solo tiene una pequeña le-tra que las hace diferentes; la “s”
Les pregunto: ¿Cuándo Pedro Y Andrés siguieron a Jesús, dejaron de ser pecadores? ¿Nunca más volvieron a pecar? ¡NO! ¡Siguieron siendo humanos y, por lo tanto, siguieron siendo pecadores! Toda la vida, los que somos seguidores de Jesús, somos pescadores y pecadores. A veces pescamos y a veces pe-camos. Lo más importante de todo, es reconocer que te-nemos patitas de barro, y que muy fácil caemos en el pe-cado. ¡Gracias a Dios tenemos el Sacramento de la Peni-tencia! La Cuaresma es un tiempo de arrepentimiento y reconci-liación. Los invito para que el 3 de abril a las 7:00 pm. vengan al Servicio de Reconciliación, aquí en nuestra pa-rroquia y reciban el amor de Dios a través del este hermo-so sacramento del perdón.
