When The Prudontlal Insurance Company began its famous series of Prudential Girl calendars several years ago, It perhaps did not realize thb task it was setting for Itself. If it did not insist upon advancing thb standard of beauty year by year, its work would be easy. But it does in- sist, and that is why tho 19.16 Pru- dential Girl Is the most beautiful of her family. A description Is, of course, poeslblo, but It roally would not do the calendar justice. And you can seo it for yourself, because The Prudential 'announces that it w ill Bend a copy to all who address a postcard, asking for it, to the Homo Oflice, Newark, N. J. May Develop Amusement Park. The Anthony F. Campbell proper- ty at Atlantic Highlands, comprising a tract of about twenty acres,, situ- ated on tho bay front west of tho borough pier, has , been sold to tho Land and Locin- Cojapany, of Rod Bank. The.property waa- held at $80,000 but the new owners bought it for considerably less. It may be leased for. an amusement park. Ootober Petit Jury To Dine. A dinner the. latter, part of this month, la to bo given by thb members of-tha Octobor term potit Jury. .• In all probability the dinner; will be at tho MonmOuth House, Freehold. Ja- •cofcjDoll/’Jr.r.o f• Bradloy- Beooh,; In AT THE STATE HOUSE. What Political Leaders Are Doiner Prior To Next Session. At a conference of the Republican members of . the House held in'Tren- ton on Tuesday a suggestion was adopted that this year the time- honored and Bonseless practice of re- quiring members to Introduce bills from the floor will be abolished. The rules will be so amended as1 to provide for this change. Tho Democrats hope to facilitate making appropriations by the pass- age of a bill providing for the estab- lishment of a budget board. This sug- gestion waa made to the conference of Democratic Senators and Assem- blymen by Senator Ackerson, of Monmouth, the minority leader of the Senate. It ls the scheme of the minority to l\ave nT permanent board which will pass upon requests for appropriations from . whatever sources. This board will investigate all the year round the necessity for money and when the legislature con- venes it would sit with the Appro- priations Committee to pass upon the requests laid before it by de- partments and institutions. The conference referred the matter to Senator Ackerson and he will draft a bill and submit it to a conference to be hold tho Tuesday after Christ- mas. Tho Democrats aiao have decided to introduce a'bill providing for an appropriation for the annual en- campment of . the national guard of the State. No '. encampment was held tills year because the Republi- cans neglected to make an appro- priation last winter. Tiie Republican Senators held a conference at which there waa a further discussion of preparation of parly platform pledges in the foriq of bills for Introduction on thb oponing day ot tho session on Janu- ary 11. Senator Rathbun, tho Re- publican leader in the Senate, said that the program provided that all of the party platform pledges will be onncted into law, and that about twenty bills will be necessary for tills purpose. Ten of these will be presented in tho Senate and ten In the House. Senator Read, of Camden county, who will be president of the 1916 Senate, with Senatcfr Rathbun, at- tended tlio House conference and outlined the program which had been decided upon by the Senators. It seemed to be entirely satisfactory to the House members. Governor Fielder attended a con- ference of the Democrats and ad- dressed them, dwelling upon the Im- portance of keeping faith with the people by making a serious endeavor to enact laws embodying the party platform pledges. Senator Acker- son, of Monmouth county, who will be tho Democratic leader in the Sen- ate, said that erory effort would-be | made by the Democrats to give the people of the State a businesslike session. The next important conference of the Republicans nnd Democrats will not be held until the Tuesday following Christmas. Labor is expected to appear in the halls of,the Senate and House de- manding radical changes in the em- ployers’ liability law. The principal amendments to be urged w ill be ones calling for a commission to ad- just tbe claims of Injured workmen or relatives of deceased employes in- stead of tho courts, where the pro- cess of settlement is slow, and a probable increase in tho rate of com- pensation from 50 per cent, of the v ages to 66 2-3. Changes to tlio State highway law will probably bo recommended by Commissioner Edwin A. Stephens. They will pertain to, road mainten- ance throughout New Jersey. The head of the highway department has been Btudylng this subject carefully and will no doubt make some rec- ommendation to the legislature. In fact the road department and tho question of roads is likely to be a leading one in the legislature. OCEAN GROVEBANK TO INCREASESTOCK PROPOSITION WILL , BE VOTED ON NEXT WEEK. Directors Will Probably Declare An Extra Dividend Of One Hundred Per' Cent., Payable In New Shares—-Action Taken Owine To ' Steady Growth of Business. It is reasonably certain that tht capital stock of the Ocean Grove National Bank, now and since Ita organization fifteen years ago $23,- 000, will be increased to $50,000 on Monday of next week, at which time a meeting of the bank’s share- holders will be held to vote, bn this proposition. Later the board of directors will meet and most likely declare a dividend of ono hundred per cent (in addition to the regular six per cent, per annum dividend already declared), payable in new Btock, to the end that each stockholder now ot record will receive an amount of stock equal to his present holdings. Beyond any question the proposi- tion to increase, th^ amount of stock will carry at tho election next week, and when the National Banking Department puts Its stamp of approval on the proceedings the new stock will bo Issued. This action, it may be stated in passing, Is taken on account of the bank's growing business, and from the further fact.that it will be bet- ter able to serve the community, be- sides giving strength, to the institu- tion from the depositor’s point of view . ... After the increase the capital will be $50,000; shareholders' liability, $50,000; surplus and profits, about $12,000. It Is a little more than fifteen yearB since the bank was founded, during which time It lias experlnced a steady growth,aB in evidenced by the fact that during these years it has paid dividends amounting to $18,000. At tbe present time it has a surplus and profits of more than $35,000, The deposits now show an Increase of $40,000 over last year.' Officers of the bank are: President, Nathan J. Taylor; vice president, Jacob Z. Stiles; cashier, T. A. Mil- ler; assistant cashier, Joseph H. Ralnear. The board of directors is composed of John Hulslinrt, Stephen D. Wool- ley, T. j From lw>iy hilled Jerusalem To where, upon its leafy hem,-

Tiie humble village eiung*—Calm Betidehem, dark, yet like a gem, Enwrapped with light j aa Jewel3 are.By trembling radiance of the star. ..

Tlie trees a coming wonder told’While yet tho birds, their souths unsung, Dreamed of tUo coming of their young.

But, though of splendor bright The forest breathed! its boughs were hung. With anble shade; no taper’s beam Cast through th a t dusk its happy gleam.

.Tho angels sung; tho shepherds came;In tho lotto m anger shono a (lame.Tliat burned w ith supernatural light. . Tho phio trees whispered through tho

night.And, though tho Saviour’s birth

Cliapged not their shadowy gloom to while.

They in a patient darkness stilt Bowed, ‘sighing, and obeyed Ills will.

Vanished is th a t old forest now And withered wholly, root and bough, yet In all Christian realms of earth

;Sprlnga a new forest, full of mirth ■. That lights with radiant cheer •Tlio evergreen’s enduring worth,A n d to th a t whispering prophet brings A glory of tho King of kings,

Por all our merry Chilstma« trees Qlow fair with Haim* and revelries T ha t cluster round them year by year,And fir and pine, or fa r o r near,

Llvo upright, gladly die.. * fCnmt'ltig tliat they to Ond are dear,And bring 10 man, illuminate,A torch th a t leads to heaven's gato.

Even so tho measure siow of time,Like a rhythm c.lo.sed with rime,Raises tho patient soul on high, * brings Joy to life, even from a sigh,

And in conclusion sweet Dark grief with :;ladncs« can ally.So shines tin? to rest when wo meet W ith ll.*iht and song, Christ’s birth to
