“Workshop on Physiotherapy for Interstitial Cystitis”

Interstitial Cystitis India (ICI)

GlBS in collaboration with ICI and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital has
successfully concluded the “Pelvic Floor Therapy workshop” for IC Patients on 8th
January 2020 in Mumbai.
Registration began at 10.00 am and a total of 21 patients were registered. In addition, 5
health care providers including doctors and physiotherapists from the hospital attended
the program. The patients had travelled from various parts of the country, ranging from
Gujarat, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

The program commenced at 11 am. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sanjay
Pandey, Head, Andrology & Reconstructive Urology, Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani
Hospital, who introduced the faculty, which included Dr. Navita Purohit, Certified
Interventional Pain Sonologist (CIPS), Consultant Pain & Rehabilitation Medicine,
Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital, and The Visiting Faculty Ms. Bhavti Soni.
Dr Bhavti Soni “Invited guest speaker and Pelvic floor therapist from New Jersey, USA”
has wonderfully explained the pelvic floor dysfunction associated with IC and the ways to
manage it through “Physiotherapy demonstrations- Do it yourself Exercises”.

Dr. Navita Purohit enlighten the audience through her talk on Pain Management in
Bladder Pain Syndrome.

The Inaugural ceremony included “Traditional Lamp lighting” which was done by Dr.
Bhavti Soni, Dr. Sanjay Pandey, Dr. Navita Purohit, Ms. Balaka Basu (Founder of
Interstitial Cystitis India), Mr. Mahesh Bhageria & Mr. Mahavir Jain.

Special thanks to Dr Sanjay Pandey (Urologist KDAH and Secretary GIBS), Dr Navita
Purohit (Physiatrist KDAH and Scientific Committee Member GIBS) and Dr Attar
Mohammad Ismail (Urologist-KDAH) to enlighten patients on the awareness about the
widely misunderstood condition IC and importance of pelvic floor exercises for the
management of pelvic pain.
