How does Leaps & Bounds work?

• Adaptable yearly lesson plans to fit in with your school timetable.

• 5 blocks of activities– red, yellow, green, blue, purple each with specific learning objectives that are reinforced and revised. Each activity has specific teaching points and progressions to help the child improve.

• Involvement with parents. Each child is given objectives and suggested activities to enjoy at home together at the beginning of each block.

• At the end of every session each child will receive an achievement sticker (e.g. I can jump) in line with the set objectives

• At the end of every block, each child will receive a certificate outlining what they have achieved

• At the end of all the blocks for that year there is a celebration of achievement. Each child will receive a medal

Lesson Plans for Children Aged 2-3 Years

To help with communication for this age group we have introduced visual guides.

Children of this age group respond positively to visual signals. The use of language only can present barriers to communication.

Sally Gunnell helps children discover the joy

of exercise Sally Gunnell, Olympic Gold medallist and mother of

3, cheered on a session of Leaps and Bounds programme at Great Western Hospital Nursery in

Swindon.

Sally said, “This is the best age to get children involved in activities like Leaps and Bounds, because their minds are like sponges and they take everything in. It sets them up for the rest of their lives and they have a great time in the process”.
