A Peek at Our Week… Mrs. Silvestri’s ELA Grades 6-8 Week of May 11, 2018 ELA Grades 6-8: Sixth Grade completed Math PARCC testing from Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, we continued reading and discussing a fiction text based on the novel 20,000Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. We also reviewed literary terms, Latin and greek stems, and completed free-writing activities. Seventh Grade completed Math PARCC testing Monday through Wednesday. We then continued reading and discussing our class novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry, and we critically read nonfiction texts about fake news. We also continued our review of literary terms and completed free-writing activities. Eighth Grade completed Math PARCC, continued discussions and activities for our class novel, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. We continued analyzing a fiction text about the legend of Gilgamesh and nonfiction texts about identifying fake news. We also analyzed poetry, completed free-writing activities, and continued our review of literary elements. We have our Wax Museum projects and TED Talk projects in the offing. 8th Grade Wax Museum: ALL Research due by Thursday, May 17th. Completed tri-board displays are due by Monday, May 21st. Memorized speeches are due by Tuesday, May 22nd. Costumes are due by Tuesday, May 29th. A Peek at Our Week…Mrs. Silvestri’s ELA Grades 6-8

Week of May 11, 2018 ELA Grades 6-8:

Sixth Grade completed Math PARCC testing from Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, we continued reading and discussing a fiction text based on the novel 20,000Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. We also reviewed literary terms, Latin and greek stems, and completed free-writing activities.

Seventh Grade completed Math PARCC testing Monday through Wednesday.We then continued reading and discussing our class novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry, and we critically read nonfiction texts about fake news. We also continued our review of literary terms and completed free-writing activities.

Eighth Grade completed Math PARCC, continued discussions and activities for our class novel, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton.
