Mission Statement The mission of Dancing After School is to
provide comprehensive after school programs of the Arts and dance
for FREE, and at no cost to parents or schools.
Slide 4
We welcome you to SHARE our VISION.
Slide 5
Since 2006, we have provided dance classes to over 3,000
children in 28 San Diego County schools.
Slide 6
Our children are facing very difficult challenges. The number
one health concern is child obesity and overweight children.
Slide 7
Obese and overweight children face serious health consequences
such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, high
blood pressure
Slide 8
bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, social and psychological
problems, such as stigmatization and poor self - esteem
Slide 9
and many other diseases that are increasing EVERY YEAR.
Slide 10
Lack of Physical Exercise Our children are doing less and less
physical exercise at school.
Slide 11
School budgets have almost entirely eliminated the Arts and
physical exercise from school curriculums.
Slide 12
The increased use of electronic devices such as TV,
smartphones, tablets and computers
Slide 13
including the Internet and Social Media, contribute to LESS
physical exercise.
Slide 14
Lack of Adult Supervision The majority of households have
parents who work outside their homes. Often, there is a gap between
the time children and parents arrive home.
Slide 15
Statistics show juvenile crime is the highest between 1 pm and
6 pm due to the lack of supervision and constructive
activities.
Slide 16
Facing these challenges, Dancing After School has created a
comprehensive physical program.
Slide 17
OUR CHILDREN NEED OUR HELP Our children can t wait for the
government to resolve these problems.
Slide 18
With our support, our children can benefit from the Arts and
physical activities brought back to the schools of our
communities.
Slide 19
This comprehensive physical program has the following benefits
:
Slide 20
Improves physical and mental health, as well as
coordination
The Arts, dance and music enrich lives through self -
expression
Slide 23
Dancing After School teaches the Arts, dance and physical
exercise to our children under professional supervision after their
regular school hours.
Slide 24
Classes are taught at their own school, usually between 1 pm
and 5 pm, keeping children at their school in a safe environment,
during the gap when juvenile crime is the highest.
Slide 25
Our goal for 2014 is to provide comprehensive after school
programs to at least 187 San Diego County Elementary and Middle
schools for FREE, at no cost to parents or schools.
Slide 26
