TCT Seeks Applications for Board of Director Positions
As of Sept. 29, 2016, TCT will accept applica ons for the TCT Board of Directors. Applica on packets will be available at either of TCT Solu ons Center loca ons in Abilene and Council Grove, and on TCT’s website. This year TCT is seeking candidates to represent districts 2, 4, and 5, as well as the Member at Large posi on.
Qualifi ed applicants should possess business skills, fi nance and budge ng skills, the ability to work as a team member, the ability to listen and though ully consider ideas and sugges ons, and be able to commit me to board mee ngs, planning sessions and special events. Candidates should also have an understanding of the needs of their community. Candidates must be an ac ve member of the Coopera ve in good standing. The deadline to apply is Jan. 13, 2017.
Chosen applicants will be required to provide a short biography, a recent photo, and they will be asked to record a video interview with TCT’s Produc on Team. The video interview will be posted to TCT’s website and social media sites, as well as air on TCTTV.
In mid-February ballots will be mailed to the membership with informa on about the candidates from their vo ng district and the candidate for the Member at Large posi on. Members will be instructed to return the ballot promptly. All ballots will be
sent to an independent third party to be counted. Results of the elec on will be announced at the 2017 Annual
Mee ng, the evening of March, 28, 2017. For more informa on, or to apply online,

Patrons will nominate one business per month at the
TCT Solutions Centers in Council Grove or Abilene. Each month,
TCT will draw a name as the winner of a free shop local
commercial, and the customer who nominated the winning business will also win a prize!
Special of Special of the Month...the Month...
The Morris County Historical Society is having a Birthday Party to celebrate 100 years of the Carnegie Library building. It will be on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Carnegie. We will have Lowell May from Riley give a program at 4pm on German POWs in the Midwest, including Council Grove. A er that we will have a short presenta on about the Carnegie followed with free hot dogs, hamburgers and of course cake.
Stop by the Woodbine United Methodist Church (308 West 7th Street—enter through the west door) on Wednesday, Oct. 19, for the church’s 20th Annual Spaghe Supper. Meals will be served from 4:30–7:30pm. The menu will include spaghe with meat sauce, garlic bread, tossed salad, beverages, and a variety of desserts. The cost of this event is by dona on with proceeds going to local missions. The public is invited.
White City Senior Center is sponsoring a gambling trip to the Prairie Band Casino on Oct. 20. Cost is $20. You get $10 back and your meal. Woodbine Fall Fes val – Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 – 3–8pm. Concert by the Lost and Found will be featured star ng at 6pm. Food including brauts, German potato salad, bierocks, pulled pork, chips, and dessert will be available with dona on. Hay rack rides, train rides, kids games, and adult contests (hammer a nail and potato peeling) are just a few of the a rac ons. Apple dessert contest will be judged at 3:30pm by community members – bring your favorite apple dessert before 3:30pm to have the opportunity to win the fi rst prize in either the adult division or youth division.
The First Congrega onal United Church of Christ will host its annual Halloweenie Roast on Monday, Oct. 31, in front of the church at 400 W Main St, Council Grove, from 4:30–5:30pm. There will be FREE hot dogs, chips and drinks. This is before the annual Halloween Parade in downtown Council Grove. Everyone welcome!
The 2016 Gathering in the Grove Fine Art Show and Sale is Nov. 4–6. Friday 5–9pm, Saturday 10am–9pm, Sunday 1–4pm. There will be an ques, drawings, pain ngs, photography, po ery, fused glass, jewelry, fabric art and much more on display. Be sure to save the dates on your calendar to be sure and see all of the talented ar sts and cra smen exhibit and sell their beau ful wares in the Carnegie Building in Council Grove along the Santa Fe Trail.
Join the White City United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 9, Simmons Fellowship Hall, for their Annual Turkey Supper (482-3434). Serving will begin at 5pm. Adults-$9, children 3-10yrs.-$4, under 3-free. Menu: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, vegetable, rolls, homemade pie, coff ee, tea or water. Take outs available.
