“And a little child will lead them all.” -Isaiah 11:6b
“The kids said I was too small to be the line leader at school,”
the boy told his mom one day after school. “I wish I were grown up.
You can’t do anything or be in charge when you’re a kid.”
“Yes, you can,” said Mom. “Kids can do a lot. Even though you’re
not grown up, don’t let leadership opportunities pass you by. The
Scriptures tell us of a day of peace when a little child will be
the leader of all. The rest of us will follow the child into the
day of peace, because children are valued in the eyes of God. God
values us all and has a place and way for us to step forward.”
“Maybe it’s cool to be a kid after all! God can help me lead,”
the boy responded.
All of us have the God-given ability to lead, no matter what our
size!
Loving God, help us recognize our leadership ability.

We are sending our students back to school with our
prayers and blessings. Everyone is welcome!
All students and staff are encouraged to bring their
backpacks, briefcases, planners, aprons, tool belts,
etc. to the service to be blessed.
There will be invitations in the foyer that we are
asking the members of the congregation to give to
our area students, educators and school system staff
inviting them to join us on Sunday, August 26th @
10:30 am for a Blessing of the Backpacks!
Also on August 26th the Mission Crew will share
their experiences on their June Mission Trip to
Savannah, Georgia. Come and share their joy!
Following the Blessing of the Backpacks there will be
a carry-in dinner with homemade ice cream.

The deadline for packs or donations is the October
meeting of the CWF/Disciples Women.
Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to
participate in JAM (Jesus And Me) on Tuesdays after
school beginning Tuesday, September 18th!
Students will be picked up from school and brought to
the church for snacks, singing, dancing, crafts and
games that will remind our young people of the joy that
comes by living a life with Jesus. Parents may pick up
their children in the Fellowship Hall at 5pm.
Be sure to have a current Release Form signed and
returned by September 18th.
I scream! You scream! We ALL scream for ice cream!
Youth in 5th through 12
th Grade are invited to our
Roots Youth Fall Kick-Off with an Ice Cream Bar at Pastor
Mandy’s House! Join us on Sunday, September 16
th from 4 to 6pm as we kick off an amazing year of
Roots Youth! Bring a friend and come HUNGRY!!!
We will gather weekly from 4 to 6pm September 16th
through December 9th

Join your FCC Family for a Pre-Game Tailgate on Friday,
September 21st. We will gather across the street on the
North
Side of Burlington Field. Join us any time from 5:30 to 7pm
for
hotdogs, chips and cookies. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the
fun. Stay for the game and cheer on our Bulldogs!
Women of all ages and stages are invited to a new “monthly”
gathering called she life. We will focus on taking a deep breath in
the midst of the craziness of life and take the opportunity to
support each other through it!
Join us for our first event at 6pm on Thursday, September 13th
at Pastor Mandy’s house (155 Short Drive). You are invited to bring
a
Friend and a Finger Food to share.

Adults of all ages are invited to our September Dinner Party
with a Mexican Fiesta theme! Enjoy an opportunity to meet new
people, share a fabulous meal and connect with your church
family.
Bring a side-dish or dessert to share when we gather at 6pm on
Thursday, September 27th at Pastor Mandy’s house (155 Short
