Dear Donoho Community, As we embark upon the second half of a century, The Donoho School continues to “Define the Difference” as a premiere college-preparatory independent school. We are committed to equipping the next generation of leaders that will change the world. In doing so, we face the issues of the 21 st century-school and must be prepared to answer them: • How do we remain affordable? • Is our mission sustainable? • Is our curriculum preparing students for their next step? • How do we include and acknowledge the influence of technology in our programs? • How do we remain competitive? To answer these questions, we have to be bold and decisive in decision-making. We have already begun to make decisions that help meet these challenges head-on. Our students have access to the highest quality programs, a full complement of both curricular and extra-curricular offerings and an experi- enced, passionate instructional staff. We certainly could not do it without the help of families, alumni, board members, faculty, staff, and friends who generously give of their financial resources, talents and time. Gifts from the Donoho School family provide the following: • Resources to ensure a quality college-preparatory curriculum • Enhanced technology capabilities • Professional development opportunities and competitive salaries for faculty • Enrichment teachers for the lower school • A dynamic, robust athletic and art program in the middle and upper schools On behalf of the board of directors, faculty and staff, and most importantly our students, we want to extend our appreciation for the giving of your financial resources to the Donoho Fund and “Defining the Difference: A Capital Campaign for The Donoho School during the 2013-2014 school year. We are also grateful to those who give of their time and talents to support the Donoho Parents’ Association and their events, which provide additional financial support each year. We would like to ask for your support as we begin the 2014-2015 school year and continue to “Define the Difference” in academics, arts and athletics. Each gift, no matter the amount, touches the lives of our students. Thank you for your investment. Sincerely, Dr. James Hutchins Mr. Robert W. Dear Donoho Community,

As we embark upon the second half of a century, The Donoho School continues to “Define the Difference” as a premiere college-preparatory independent school. We are committed to equipping the next generation of leaders that will change the world. In doing so, we face the issues of the 21st century-school and must be prepared to answer them:

•Howdoweremainaffordable?•Isourmissionsustainable?•Isourcurriculumpreparingstudentsfortheir nextstep?•Howdoweincludeandacknowledgetheinfluence oftechnologyinourprograms?•Howdoweremaincompetitive?

To answer these questions, we have to be bold and decisive in decision-making. We have already begun to make decisions that help meet these challenges head-on. Our students have access to the highest quality programs, a full complement of both curricular and extra-curricular offerings and an experi-enced, passionate instructional staff.

We certainly could not do it without the help of families, alumni, board members, faculty, staff, and friends who generously give of their financial resources, talents and time. Gifts from the Donoho School family provide the following:

•Resourcestoensureaqualitycollege-preparatory curriculum•Enhancedtechnologycapabilities•Professionaldevelopmentopportunitiesand competitivesalariesforfaculty•Enrichmentteachersforthelowerschool•Adynamic,robustathleticandartprogram inthemiddleandupperschools

On behalf of the board of directors, faculty and staff, and most importantly our students, we want to extend our appreciation for the giving of your financial resources to the Donoho Fund and “Defining the Difference: A Capital Campaign for The Donoho School during the 2013-2014 school year.

The Donoho School appreciates those individuals who have generously supported the Donoho Fund. It takes the support of the entire community – board members, faculty and staff, parents, alumni, grandparents, alumni parents and friends – to achieve the mission of The Donoho School. Through those that have given so generously, we have ensured the continuing excellence of educa-tion that our students, faculty and parents have come to expect.

All contributions raised through the Donoho Fund go directly into our operating budget to help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and our operating expenses. From faculty salaries to day-to-day classroom programs, these investments help support all areas of The Donoho School.

Capital Campaign GivingThe school launched the campaign “Defining the Difference,” in March 2011 to modernize the current campus facilities with the addition of two buildings and allow us to advance the campus technologically through the implementation of campus-wide upgrades. These improvements will allow us to be considered among the best college-preparatory schools in Alabama and the southeast. The campaign will build upon the foundation that our founding families established in 1963 while enabling us to educate those students who will join us in the years to come.

Since its inception, we have raised over $930,000 and completed the first capital project, opening a new student-athlete facility in the fall of 2012. Campus-wide we have made advancements in technology with the iimplementation of a 1:1 program with grades 4-12, increased the bandwidth of our current system to allow for more information to be transmitted from smart devices on campus, installed a new Wi-Fi infrastructures campus-wide, migrated to Google Apps for Education and equipped all faculty members with iPads and are providing ongoing professional development.

Thank you to those who have contributed to the campaign!

Ways to GiveGifts of CashThe majority of the gifts we receive at The Donoho School are in the form of cash, check or credit card. These contributions are tax-deductible for those who itemize their returns.

In-Kind-GiftsItems (computers, musical equipment, athletic equipment, etc.) and professional services may be contributed to the school, dependent on the school’s needs. The Development Office can help you determine the suitability of your gift, and, again, you may receive a tax deduction if you itemize.

Matching GiftsMany corporations will match gifts made by their employees and retirees to educational institutions. The personnel office of your company can provide that information for you as well as the paperwork required. The Donoho School will complete the application process and recognizeboth donor and corporation for their gift.

Memorials and HonorariumsGifts made in memory or honor of a family member or friend acknowledge special relationships or may recognize a special event. These gifts to the school are tax deductible.

SecuritiesA tax deduction is given for the full market value of gifts of securities and stocks contributed to the school. If you hold securities that would incur a tax on capital gains if sold, your gift could mean significant savings. Gifts of securities should also be considered for establishing a planned deferred gift to the school.

BequestsA gift provided for in your will may be a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, the residual of the estate, or a certain item. The amount is fully deductible in determining estate and inheritance taxes.

If you would like more information on giving to The Donoho School, please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at (256) 237-5477.

What is the Donoho Fund, and why should I contribute? The Donoho Fund is the most common kind of giving to The Donoho School. The Donoho Fund provides unrestricted, critical resources that support the essentials of a quality program such as: faculty profession-al development, small classes, technology upgrades, and classroom equipment. Donoho Fund gifts help to cover the cost of a Donoho education.

Why doesn’t Donoho just raise tuition to make up the gap?In order to cover all educational costs, Donoho would have to dramatically increase tuition on an annual basis. This increase would essentially exclude many families and qualified students from the community who help make Donoho the school that it is. Every family ultimately benefits from a successful Donoho Fund program.

Who contributes to the Donoho Fund? All current and past parents, board members, faculty and staff, alumni, grandparents, and friends are en-couraged to contribute to the Donoho Fund each year. The Donoho Fund runs from July 1 through June 30.

What is so important about participation in the Donoho Fund?Participating in the Donoho Fund is vital to The Donoho School when we apply for foundation grants and funding for special projects. These organizations often base their philanthropic decisions on the strength of consistent support. They want to see that Donoho believes in itself and its mission, and that its constituents are committed to the school’s long-term well-being.

How much should I give?Every dollar to the Donoho Fund counts; all gifts at every level make an impact on our students. Contribu-tions range in size from $5 to $25,000 and above; therefore, there is no “right” amount. We hope that the Donoho community will participate at a level appropriate for their circumstances.

What is the easiest way to make my Donoho Fund gift? You can make your gift in one of the following ways:

•Donating on-line – www.donohoschool.com•Calling the Development Office at 256.237.5477•Mailing your check to: The Donoho School, c/o Development Office, 2501 Henry Road Anniston, AL 36207
