Ms. Colleen O'Hare(Advocate for Special Education)

Ms. O’Hare though mild natured is a champion for the needs of the

special education department. She has been teaching at Jones for over 5 years, but has 20 years of service advocating for children with special

needs. Ms. O’Hare teaches her students to challenge themselves

and excel to their highest potential.

She pushes her student to apply themselves toward higher learning

achievements and to be career oriented. She has devoted herself promoting goodwill towards room

205 and 503. Ms. O'Hare has dedicated her time and expertise on several occasions to improving the

morale of students in the department, as well as ESP staff

members. There’s always a token of appreciation presented by her to ESP staff members. Showing that

everyone working in special education is an important.

In every environment there is someone who does look for that

extra pat on the back for their good deeds but know that we appreciate every kindness you have shown us

Ms. O'Hare.

Ladies of Grace

The ladies of Grace in Jones cafeteria once again spread their generous nature, and loving hands on the nutritional meals our students receive each day.

Each day these women work very hard in the preparation of food, along with a happy environment for us to enjoy while dining.

As usual they go out of their way to give that loving touch that is greatly needed with our children.

Thank you

AmandaAdaptive P.E

We are continuing the “Dream.”

If you are in the Jones cafeteria, and you look to the wall on the south east of the building you will find a wall containing brief

bios of Afro-American inventors, those of influential backgrounds and even those belonging to the Jones College Prep Community.

In honoring Black History Month our 2nd period Adaptive P.E. class

with Mr. Dixon is taking leadership in obtaining

knowledge about our past.

Anthony, Sharell, Amanda, Korey, Richard, Diamond, Tytiana, Derrick, Jaawan,

Artessia, Mylan and Terrell are continuously discussing the civil rights movement, equality, and

what it means to them, also their personal responsibility to themselves as well as the

community they live in.

Kudos Mr. Dixon for bringing out the best that we have to offer.

Amanda E. is a junior at Jones College Prep. Amanda is very interested in social issues that effect the special needs community.

Amanda reflects on ways the Jones College Prep Community can be more supportive of students with disabilities, which impair them from being fully included in the general circulation.

One of the issues that Amanda is advocating for is the accessibility of the school’s water fountains.

While Amanda is very conscious of her physical situation, she also feels that certain public utilities should be made available to all without hindrance.

Thank you, Amanda for bringing this to our attention.

You are a true inspiration for keeping the “Dream” alive.

Mirror, MirrorOn the wall who will answer

Freedom’s call?

Who will fight in Freedom’s ring

Stained with blood

Of Reverend King?

The ring where Medgar Evers fell,

Fighting till the, final bell,

Where Malcolm X and Rosa Parks,

Nelson Mandela,

Made their marks,

Where Douglas challenged slavery

In battles marked by bravery,

Determination, tears and pain,

Of lives destroyed for selfish gain.

Here so many fought and died.

So many were, so many tried.

So many struggled for a long to live the dream,

To right the wrong.

But of the future, what will be? Who leads us now. To victory?

Tell us, Mirror, where to turn, who can teach us how to learn

To live with justice, honor, and truth

Quell the violence, free the youth. (Susan Altman)

Celebrating Afro-American History

As we embark upon the month of February let us remember the many contributions Afro-Americans have given to our society.

CONTINUING THE DREAM ROOM 205

Keep to the march, Keep to the song.

“Keep on resisting where there is wrong.”

“Fight to be equal, fight to be free, but only fight non-violently.”

“I have a dream”, said the man with no gun, of equality for everyone.

Of an end to war and poverty,

The poor are a mighty family

Our Special Friend

Around the Jones community many of us look for authority that is there for discipline, but can also show companionship to those who need it. Our special friend Mr. Gonzales has both qualities. He’s there for our children every morning with a pleasant smile and firm directional guidance when needed. We thank you Rudy for being there for us.

Room 205.

Thom Berman

Mr. Berman along with several students during Home-court discuss the importance of individual social responsibility. Room 205 submitted 15 stated opinions regarding how they as individuals should honor their social responsibilities. Here are just a few:

1. Be compassionate.

2. Let your peers know when they are wrong.

3. Appreciate those who help us.
