PreparingYour

Fabric(cont.)

• Check that you have all your pieces pinned, and any that say “on the fold” are ON the FOLD. (If not sure, ask your instructor to check.)

• CAREFULLY cut out each piece. If you are a first-time sewer, cut your notches out instead of in so if you accidently cut too much, it will not interfere with your stitch line.

Preparing to Sew

• Using your pattern envelope, double-check to make sure you have all the required notions.

• Thread your machine.• Reread your directions.• Begin with Step 1. Remember, it is better to sew slowly, steadily, and be correct than to go fast and end up starting all over.

• When in doubt, double-check your directions or ask your instructor.
