A Letter from the President
I am pleased to announce that Access Services has
been named one of 2011’s “Best Places to Work” by
the Philadelphia Business Journal! This honor is a direct
result of the dedication and commitment our staff and
associates have shown for fulfilling our mission and
improving the lives of the individuals we serve. We
should all be very proud of this accomplishment.
With the challenging economic conditions persisting throughout 2011, demand for
our community-based services has remained very high. Despite the financial hardships
so many non-profits are facing, I am happy to report that Access Services experienced
a 10% growth during this fiscal year. This is outstanding growth considering all of the
barriers that non-profits are facing. Our services have shown great outcomes and
satisfaction with the people we serve and their families and they also prevent the
utilization of high cost services and hospitalizations. The growth we experienced is
attributed to the value we bring to those we serve and the community as a whole.
As we look forward to 2012, we do so with an understanding that we will continue
to have to do more with less. We have already experienced significant rate cuts and
must continue to work more efficiently and effectively than in years past. However,
our mission, along with the passion and commitment of our employees remains the
same, and we are confident that Access Services will continue to be the provider
of choice for those in need of services, the employer of choice for high-quality
professionals seeking employment and the charity of choice for donors with a
heart for our mission.
Again, I want to thank all of you that have supported us over this past year.
Without you, we would not have been able to accomplish so much.
Sincerely,
Rob W. ReidPresident & CEO

“Access Services is excited
to extend its reach around
the world, partnering with
organizations in India,
Swaziland, Transnistria
and Zambia. We are
looking forward to more
opportunities to serve our
community and abroad.”
Building Bonds A man living with Paranoid Schizophrenia who has ahistory of hospitalization longed for more positiveconnections in his life. He had no friends, no family and lived alone.
Access Services offered assistance by connecting him with a Support Partner and a Respite Provider. Betweenspending time with his support partner doing things likelistening to music, going bowling and learning to how toride the bus to his Respite Provider’s house, this man isnow living a more fulfilling life with the help from hisencouraging support system.
REBOUND Remodel The Access Services REBOUND Program aims to reducethe need for placement in foster care, residentialtreatment facilities and secure detention centers byproviding holistic treatment and therapy to adjudicatedyouth in the midst of transition.
In an effort to expand the REBOUND Program’s reach, it will be providing even more support services in theupcoming year including, case management, advocacy, mentoring, clinical counseling, truancy prevention, academic assistance and transition counseling. Theseadditional services will meet the clinical needs of childrenand help improve their relationships with their family, school and community.
A Desired DwellingAfter living in and out of hospitals her entire life, thiswoman only wanted a place she could call her own —a place where she felt she belonged and could grow.
Access Services was able to provide her with her ownsuite that she now calls home. With the support shereceives from Access, she is able to handle her ownmoney and manage her own doctors’ appointments andmedications. In addition, she has learned how to cookand is attending church— giving her the independenceshe desired. “God has given me a wonderful place to live so I can be more independent,” she stated.
The Latest in LIFE One of Access Services’ newest programs, Bucks CountyLIFE, has recently made a big move to their own office!Located in The Courtyard at Ivyland on Jacksonville Road, the new office will allow the Bucks County LIFE programto increase the support, guidance and resources theyprovide to families with children who struggle withemotional, behavioral, social and/or learning issues.
The new location is strategically designed toaccommodate family support and training programs with large and small meeting rooms. The Bucks CountyLIFE Program will host monthly classes at the newlocation that focus on issues faced by parents withchildren with special needs.
