The greatest gift of St. John Baptist De la Salle to humanity is the sharing of his holistic spiritual virtue which was later observed by many who believed in change. Any form of art is a product of creativity. To a genius, it is his muse, it is unique and very special. However, with the presence of technology, every drawing, no matter how simple or complex it is, seems to have instantly become a work of art. This skeptic thought together with other notions makes us think if creativity is still needed in a multimedia dominated world. (i.e. animation to website design to other forms of modern arts) In our interview with the Graphics Design and Multimedia Arts chair Mr. Eduardo M. Rubi II, his generous answers settled the score.

According to Mr. Rubi even if their field of discipline require the functions of accuracy and governed by specific measurement, creativity remains an invaluable talent. He furthers that for students to explore their artistic side, their teaching methods have to ensure, allow and provide rational landscapes for creativity so that every time students conceptualize details of their design, it is not just artful, but well thought of. Since producing visual arts entails creative input borne out of free hand mixed with technology, creativity is surely not dead. Furthermore, Mr. Rubi believes that innovation does not suppress creativity. In fact, technology and creativity complement each other. By using traditional arts and accessibility to emerging technology in

Their work also included accurately approximating the number of people and umbrellas to be used. This GUINNESS holder event was never without the creativity of the human mind partnered with technology.

Get a head start in your multimedia career and benefit from one of the finest undergraduate programs of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas! Bachelor of Multimedia Arts is considered one of the most dynamic and fast-paced programs DLSUD offers to its potential students. Bringing into the classroom new and exciting ways to learn and navigate through science, art, and technology, students get to explore their potentials in more creative ways while respecting the realistic limitations of the marketplace and the broadening horizons of the media landscape.

With advanced hands-on practices and thorough understanding of the latest skills and concepts used in graphic design and multimedia, the MMA program enables students to become effective designers in print and electronic media. Students engage in project-based learning and use images, and sequential arts for print, web, video, and interactive media. As part of their cycle of courses, students learn how to create 2D and 3D animations, computer games, and HTML and Flash Web sites. In the learning environment, students are exposed to collaborative team building activities that foster communal learning. Finally, through a variety of service learning and internship opportunities,

classroom and professional practices are bridged. By the end of the Graphics Design and Multimedia program, DLSU-D graduates are expected to:1. Create and develop designs and concepts

The word ‘relic’ comes from the Latin reliquiae which means remains. In Christianity, a relic consists of physical remains of a saint like bones, clothings or personal objects preserved for purposes of veneration as a tangible memorial. Relics are not limited to Christianity but also significant in Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Shamanism, and many other religions.

In 2011, prior to the celebration of the Lasallian Centennial Celebration, Br. Álvaro Rodríguez Echevarría FSC, gifted the Philippine Lasallian Family with a first class relic, a sizeable bone fragment of St. La Salle. The relic’s purpose is not only for pilgrimage in various La Salle schools, moreover a permanent enshrinement of the Founder’s artifact which is currently under construction and will be finished this May 2020.

After its year-long pilgrimage, the relic will rest in its permanent home - The Shrine of St. John Baptist de La Salle, currently

under construction at the DLSU Laguna Campus. The first sanctuary in the world dedicated in honor of the Patron Saint of Teachers, it is

envisioned to be a pilgrimage site for educators. The dedication of the Shrine of St. John Baptist de La Salle is scheduled in May 2020.

These relics are a piece of hair and a piece of cloth

worn by St. La Salle.

There are three classes of sacred relics. The first-class is a part of the saints body. (It is this type which is placed in an altar stone.) The second-class is a piece of the saints clothing or something used by the saint, while the third-class is an object which has been touched to a first-class relic.

All Dressed Up and Ready to Venerate:

In celebration of the 425th anniversary of the Parish of Silang, the Silang Parish Council for Culture and Heritage held an exhibition opening entitled “Manto: Weaving Silang History Through The Virgen de Candelaria’s Festive Vestments,” in partnership with De La Salle University-Dasmarinas, at the Museo De La Salle on February 20, 2020.

Rev. Fr. Dimaranan, in his special message, thanked the Lasallian community for exhibiting the “Manto” of their Patroness Nuestra Senora de Candelaria.

He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the people of the Silang parish for initiating the exhibition event. The event befits the 425th anniversary of the canonical erection of the parish of Silang. Rev. He hopes that the exhibit will inspire us to appreciate more the sanctity and beauty of the heart of the Blessed Mother.

Mr. Philip Lacson Medina, Chairman of the 425 Committee, shared with the audience that a “manto” is a cape or an outer covering. The cape may also be used as a veil. The

manto was used by the Virgen in the different events in the life of Jesus. Thus, the manto should lead us to a personal experience of Christ. The devotees of the Virgen De Candelaria sees the Blessed Mother as an intercessor and protectress, he added.

be moved again to the relocated Generalate Lembecqles-Haus in Belgium in 1906. From Belgium, the relics were transported in a solemn procession to Rome on January 26, 1937, the same date as the promulgation in 1725 of the Bull of Approbation of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.Today, the relics of Our Beloved Founder are venerated in the Sanctuary of St. John Baptist De La Salle, the Main Chapel of the Generalate, or Casa Generalizia, of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Rome, Itlay.

According to Rev. Fr. William Saunders, we

venerate relics because it is a form of expression of the profession of the Catholic faith. The five aspects of the veneration are the belief in everlasting life, the truth of the resurrection of the body, the doctrine of the splendor of the human body, the belief in the special intercessory power, and the truth of our closeness to the saints. Moreover, the pilgrimage of the Relics of St. John Baptist De La Salle would (1) provide schools and their parish communities an opportunity to celebrate the Lasallian Jubilee Year with the presence of Our beloved Founder’s presence in their community, (2) appreciate the charism of the Founder through prayer

and veneration of the relics, (3) promote and teach the significance of the Founder’s story as the Universal Patron of Teachers and inspire people to live a life of faith and service to the community, and (4) promote the devotion to St. John Baptist De La Salle as an intercessor. The Relics of St. John Baptist De La Salle is a gift to every Filipino educator and to us all Filipinos as well. In the 300 years of De la Salle’s heavenly journey, he connects us to his legacy that has enriched the minds, touched the hearts, and transformed the lives of the youth in over eighty countries around the world. This legacy continues on.
