Students! Welcome to Cumberland University. A great opportunity awaits you like none that you have ever had before. Cumberland University was established and developed with you in mind in an effort to follow Gods Word in “preparing”  His people for a life of sacrificial service to Him. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:1 to”... Offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is a spiritual act of worship.   To do this we must first hear His calling and then respond by preparing ourselves to enter into the mission area that He has called us. If you feel that God has called you into the mission field to serve Him, Cumberland University will prepare you to answer His calling. In Proverbs 27:11 we learn that we can make Gods heart joyful by being wise. Please prayerfully consider letting Cumberland University serve your every need as you prepare to serve Him! Cumberland University is committed to the Biblical and Theological education and practical training of men and women that will lead to the spiritual revitalization of the Church and global evangelization. This commitment serves as the driving force behind who we are and what we do - whether it is our degree plans, curriculum design, or ministry outreach. Our University is founded on the Faith that Jesus Christ died for our sins, died, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. Out of this simple faith springs the desire, and complex worldwide mission, to spread Gods message throughout the world that all people may have eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Thus, my desire for your life is three-fold: to study and delight in God's Word, to train men and women for the revitalization of the Church, and to evangelize the world.  As described in our catalogue, all this can be accomplished either through our on campus program here in North Carolina or through our off campus, distant education program. The Apostle Paul set the model for selecting and training church leaders by providing a profile of character skills as outlined in the Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus).  Graduates from Cumberland University will be trained to foster spiritual health in themselves and others, to merge Biblical and Theological solutions to everyday problems, to successfully manage people, process and resources to fulfill the vision that God has given them, and promote spiritual renewal in the Church. We look forward to meeting you and help you to prepare for a lifetime of service to our Lord, Jesus Christ.      Dr. Chester M. Martin
