Overview of Reemployment Assistance Procedures

• Internet filing and certification of weeks– Claims can no longer be made by phone

• Claimants required to contact at least five potential employers per week– This information must be provided via Internet

• Those filing new claims must complete an initial skills review on the Internet to receive benefits– Results will be used to assist claimants in finding jobs

Making Your Online Claim for Benefits

• File new Reemployment Assistance benefits claim applications at www.floridajobs.org– Complete the online form– Leave as few blanks as possible

After you log in at www.EmployFlorida.com, go to the “Quick Job Search” page and fill in the title of a job for which you are qualified. Then submit your application.

Do the same thing for any additional job titles that would be suitable for you.

• You can meet with a Workforce Alliance representative for Reemployment Services to:– Build a résumé and cover letter– Sharpen your interviewing skills– Learn job search techniques – Overcome barriers or difficulties

Initial Skills Assessment RequiredTo file for Reemployment Assistance benefits you will need to

take a three-part workplace skills assessment:

1. Applied Mathematics – Using basic math in the workplace to conduct transactions, answer questions or solve problems (e.g., calculating discounts and markups)

2. Reading for Information – Workplace reading to conduct business, answer questions or solve problems (i.e., memos, letters, signs, policies and regulations)

3. Locating Information – Using workplace charts, graphs, tables, forms, flowcharts, diagrams, floor plans, maps and instrument gauges to communicate, answer questions or solve problems

You don’t need to “pass” – but you must take the assessment to receive benefits.

• When claiming weeks, the system will remind you whether or not you completed your initial Skills Review. Remember, it is not a requirement to “pass” -- only that you complete it.
