in its own triplicity. Thus: Mars and Jupiter are fiery planets; Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fiery signs; therefore Mars, Jupiter and the Sun have more power in these signs than in others. Sat-urn is Earthy and is strong in Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

A planet has strong s i g w t i o n and exerts a more marked in-fluence when located in the cardinal signs of the figure, as these signs form the principal angles of the horoscope.

The strength is considerably mitigated when located in common signs-Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces-as when placed in such signs their action in bringing about events i s sluggish and at times fails entirely, while if located in Cardinal signs-Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn they bring about a more prompt and decided result, while if located in Fixed signs--Taurus, Leo, Scor- pio and Aquarius-their influence is much more slow in culmina-ting but more lasting when completed.

Planets located in the northern signs-from Aries to Libra-ex- ert a stronger influence in bringing about events then when located in the other portion of the Zodiac, for the reason that when in nortilern signs they aro in north declination, therefore exert a more direct influence upon the northern hemisphere; while in southern signs their declination is south and their influence exerted more directly upon the southern hemisphere.

    Dispositions Produced by the Signs.-

A Fiery s ign ascending, o r the ru le r of the ascendant in a fiery s ign, inclines one t o be hasty, impulsive, quick tempered, revenge- ful, proud, ambitious, hardy, rash and very persevering for a time, bu t lacking cont inui ty; often making remarks they are soon sorry for, thereby involving themselves in a rguments o r disputes; y e t they a re mostly ingenious; often change their opinions o r pursuits. T h e rul ing planet in a fiery s ign, and in s t r o n g aspect t o a n evil planet, gives a violent, rash temper, b u t if well aspected, a very pleasant and sympathetic nature.

A n Ear thy s ign ascending, o r t h e ruler of the ascendant i n a n ear thy sign, inclines one t o b e slow and deliberate in al l their un- dertakings, secretive, cautious, economical, headstrong a n d even stubborn, often covetious o r suspicious, seldom forge t t ing an injury, qui te independent , car ing more for their own opinions than t h e opinions of others; general ly p rudent and careful. T h e rul ing planet i n s t r o n g aspec t t o a n evil planet will make one hard-hearted, often slovenly and neglectful, s t and ing in their o w n light. The good aspects give neatness and sympathy. o

.A n Airy s ign ascending, o r t h e rul ing planet in a n airy s ign, inclines one to be cheerful, affable, courteous, liberal, free-hearted, faithful, sympathet ic and loving music, art, etc.; very imaginative and often visionary, ye t s tudious and very good reasoners; often ingenious and given t o invention, modest in manner and neat in al l their affairs. If the rul ing planet b e afflicted, the native is fearful, unstable, lacks self-confidence and pride, b u t if well aspected, has many nxcellent qualities.

A W a t e r y s ign ascending, or the ru l ing planet in a watery sign, inclines one t o b e dull, slow, gloomy, qui te effeminate; low sup- pressed voice, timid, fearful, y e t often conceited and very fond of flattery. They a re fond of pleasures, b u t dislike work in all forms. I f the ruling planet be in s t rong aspect t o evil-planets, t h e native is slovenly, lazy, glut tenous and revengeful, but'if well aspected, is -pleasant, good-hearted and fairly ambitious.

One should not place too much stress on the ascending s ign and sign the rul ing planet is in, a s the dispositiou must necessarily be influenced a g rea t deal b y the mentality, and if Mercury and the Moon are well aspected, or we]! lapected t o other planets, the na- tive may have a brilliant intellect, which would overcome to qui te a n extent some of the indications a s given, b u t unless many testi- monies contradict, we can depend upon these testimonies. B u t for a brilliant and independent mind, the fiery and airy s igns a r t -for intuition, t h e earthy or watery-signs a re most favorable.

The native of Uranus often has genius, but is generally about a hundred years ahead of his time; i s never heard of until long after he is dead.
