Materials Needed: Construction paper in the following colors: flesh-

tone, brown, dark brown, white, red, and blue Scissors Glue Black marker or crayon (for nose and mouth)

Directions for Making Glyph:1. The teacher will make copies of the patterns

in colors needed (make sure there are enough of each color/ pattern).

2. Students will read the glyph key and determine which materials they need in order to complete the glyph.

3. Once students have all their materials, they will cut them out and glue them together to create their Martin Luther King glyph.

4. Once their glyph is complete, students will complete the creative writing sheet and attach it to the front of the suit jacket.

5. If needed, the teacher can create a glyph ahead of time for students to refer to when putting their glyph together, but MAKE SURE that students are aware that theirs will look a little
