SUMMER 2019 | 11 M alibu Times Magazine wants to honor Joan Zambetti with a loving thank you. She was a quiet contributor to our publication. Her good friend, Roxanne McCann, our contributing photographer, said, “Whenever I needed a story idea, an angle, a grammar check, or a model, Joan found time to advise and help. She was supportive, and I knew I could always count on her for just the right word with the perfect shade of meaning. I will be forever grateful for her generosity and friendship.” Joan inspired everyone with her fortitude, and never complained but instead shared her knowledge with those who were also determined to carry on despite multiple myeloma. She left us on March 17. Joan and her husband, John Zambetti, shared their holiday traditions with us in our 2012 holiday issue. Joan’s loved ones remembered her with a paddle-out ceremony in Malibu. Lifeguard Kelly Jacobson waited until everyone had safely gotten through the surf before joining the group. A lifeguard boat came at the end of the celebration for a final salute.

to our publication. Her good friend, Roxanne McCann, our contributing photographer, said, “Whenever I needed a story idea, an angle, a grammar check, or a model, Joan found time to advise and help.
