THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Portfolio ManagementCreate a Strategic Enterprise Portfolio to Drive Your Long-Term GoalsProject & Portfolio Management in CA Clarity PPM gives you all the tools you need to align your

strategic investments with your corporate goals, bringing you the highest return on the use of your

limited resources. It provides you with the structured environment you need to create an enterprise

portfolio, define metrics, perform what-if analysis and make better, fact-based decisions about the future of the portfolio.

Establish Portfolio Standards

How do you decide where to invest your organization’s time, budget and staff? On what do you base your

decision to launch a new product, expand delivery of a service or develop an innovation? If your company

is like most others, decisions are often based on subjective criteria such as the loudest or most

demanding internal or external customer. The result: your portfolio decisions may not align with your

overall business strategy. Using CA Clarity PPM, you can define structured criteria and metrics to drive smarter, fact-based decisions about the allocation of your limited resources.

The extensive configuration capabilities in CA Clarity PPM allow you to adapt the standard evaluation criteria or easily add your own. With point-and-click configuration, it’s easy to create, prioritize and evaluate investments against your own metrics, such as return-on-investment and break-even analyses, cost avoidance or revenue enhancement goals, quality statistics, business value assessments and many more.

Define your Strategic Portfolio

Once you’ve determined how best to measure your portfolio against your strategic goals, you can

inventory current and proposed investments and evaluate them against the selected criteria. CA Clarity

PPM enables you to get up and running quickly, providing you with an easy-to-use interface for entering existing investments, projects, programs, applications, assets and services.

Within CA Clarity PPM, you can create multiple portfolios, each consisting of different sets of

investments, including projects, assets, applications, resources and services. You can also group portfolios

together in parent-child relationships, allowing individual departments or companies to maintain their own portfolios while providing overall visibility at the executive level. The interlinked portfolios provide

support for top-down planning and bottom-up reporting.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Evaluate Your Portfolio

CA Clarity PPM provides you with a complete set of tools and reports to enable critical what-if scenario planning that empower you to make smarter portfolio decisions about investment mix, project selection,

timing, execution, sourcing, performance and anticipated outcomes.

With clear strategic goals and budget allocations, your portfolio managers can evaluate potential and

ongoing investments by sorting and prioritizing them against the key portfolio criteria. They can look at

the results, evaluate at the available budget and simply choose the highest ranked investments you can

afford. Investments can be selected, scheduled, postponed or put on hold—and the impact on the cost,

benefit, alignment and balance of the portfolio can be analyzed in the context of these changes. The final, optimized portfolio can turn out to be any combination of required investments: high-scoring new initiatives and subjective, ad-hoc selections that provide a good benefit/risk balance.

User definable scorecards help prioritize demand based on strategic alignment, financial return, compliance and risk to objectively compare requests across the entire IT portfolio.

Improve Portfolio Performance

Your portfolio will never be static. Demands change, as do budgets and revenue requirements. The

integration of portfolio execution and analysis with CA Clarity PPM enables you to drill into the details

and answer the really important questions:

• Is my portfolio in alignment with strategic business goals?

• How should I invest my limited resources?

• How do I balance keeping the lights on with driving innovation into the organization?

The ability to establish sophisticated evaluation and selection criteria, create and optimize planning scenarios,

communicate decisions and monitor progress in a seamless, integrated system makes CA Clarity PPM your most

critical tool for managing organizational investments, resource capacity, demand and commitments.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Application Portfolio ManagementAnalyze, Select and Manage your Portfolio of Applications

CA Application Portfolio Management for CA Clarity PPM delivers a fact based decision making process

that reduces the cost and complexity associated with delivering a modernized and optimized application

portfolio, rationalizing what should be retired, consolidated, invested in or differently-sourced (virtualization, cloud, outsourcing, etc.). This results in faster adoption of the right new technologies, as

well as the optimization of existing assets.

What is Application Portfolio Management?

Application Portfolio Management is about delivering a comprehensive view of the inventory of

applications for an organization and providing detailed data on the business value and technical condition

of each application, so rationalization decisions can be made about the future of applications in the

portfolio. For example, applications may require update or expansion, or redundancies could exist.

Efficiencies in resources and budgets can be obtained when applications can be retired, outsourced or moved to cloud-based environments.

Inventory Your Applications

One of the problems with applications is that over time your business may have accumulated

a wide assortment of applications, some of which may now be redundant, under-used, or obsolete. Some may be out of alignment with your company’s strategic platform direction or out of

compliance with policies. Others may even be complicating business processes. Lack of governance

of these applications can slow business down and increase IT costs.

The first step to rationalizing your application portfolio is to define what constitutes an

application. Determine what the working definition is for all organizations participating

in the rationalization process. Then you can focus on identifying what applications you own,

gathering details such as technology platform, use and adoption, cost for licenses, support and

maintenance and other details.

Page 8: A Functional Overview of the Components and · PDF fileA Functional Overview of the Components ... Allows your portfolios to be grouped in hierarchies that relect the structure of

8

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Define Your Metrics

Next you will define metrics to help you determine whether you would keep an application under support, outsource it, expand it, move it to different infrastructure like the cloud or retire it entirely. Ask the

important questions. Is it of value to the business in some way? Are other systems dependent upon it?

Does it adhere to corporate technology standards? Is it cost effective to maintain and support? Does it

require expansion? Do redundancies exist? Is anyone using this application?

CA Clarity™ PPM provides pre-defined criteria to walk you through the rationalization of your application portfolio. Configurable surveys can be used to assess risk, business value, financials, cloud suitability, technology fit and other factors. Once you have the data about the various perspectives of your application portfolio, and the metrics to evaluate the data, you can decide on outcomes that make sense

to the business.

Assess Business ValueCA Clarity PPM’s robust application portfolio management functionality helps you analyze each application

individually, within segments of your portfolio, and as part of the entire portfolio, against your defined metrics, generating scores for each and plotting them on multi-dimensional views.

By utilizing what if scenario analysis, heat mapping of critical evaluation criteria, and assessing the impact

of change to the business, application rationalization can jump start an effective transformation strategy

with lower risk.

Implement Your Decisions

The decisions you make will likely generate new IT projects, including ones to retire, modernize or

migrate applications.

These projects require schedules, resource allocations, cost management, delivery plans, and other project

components. This information is already available in CA Clarity PPM so your decisions can be quickly

turned into projects and managed to completion using capabilities in CA Clarity™ PPM.

developers, testers, business analysts, and project managers on software development teams often use

different applications specific to their area of expertise. But, there are common artifacts that the entire team needs access to such as defects, user stories, and tasks. With Tasktop Sync, these artifacts can be synced

real-time across applications to provide visibility and keep the entire team up to date.

The inclusion of a certified connector to Tasktop Sync in CA Clarity Agile means team members can stay in their tool of choice while still being able to view and update epics, stories, and tasks. Scrum masters, product

owners, and other team members can make updates in CA Clarity Agile and know that the team will get

updates real-time in applications such as HP Quality Center, Atlassian JIRA, Microsoft TFS, and IBM Rational. And as the team updates those artifacts within those applications, CA Clarity Agile is instantly updated with

the relevant information, providing true end-to-end traceability.

Collaborate with team members and stakeholders

Product owners are engaged in project development and provided online tools for immediate access to

project related information. Stakeholders can communicate and collaborate in real-time via Chatter, the Fore.com social-networking communication tool built into CA Clarity Agile.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Key Features: CA Clarity Agile

Features Benefits

Iterative project management CA Clarity Agile captures project, resource, and cost status in real time using iterative project formats unique to Agile

methodologies.

Agile-specific environment CA Clarity Agile’s user experience is designed uniquely for Agile teams, from Virtual walls and burn-down charts, to stories, epics, and its iterative project format.

Project portfolio management

across methodologies

Using CA Clarity Agile with CA Clarity PPM, clearly report progress, status, cost of projects, and resource utilization across all

projects in your portfolio regardless of methodology—Agile, traditional waterfall, or hybrid. View requirements, sprints, user stories and tasks in CA Clarity PPM as they are defined in CA Clarity Agile.

User stories and epics User stories are supported in stand-alone format or in relationship to each other through epics. Epics are supported as parent user stories that can span sprints and releases. User stories can be set as children of epics by creating new or copying existing

user stories to an epic. All epics and user stories are displayed in a hierarchical structure view.

Issue tracking Defect issues are created and tracked within CA Clarity Agile without need for a separate defect tracking tool. View issues in the backlog along with user stories. Issues are added to sprints where progress is tracked. Issues are linked to user stories to

track defect resolution and verify quality.

Impediments Teams can track impediments, issues blocking the completion of a task, consistent with Scrum methodology. Team members

can run reports that show all impediments for a given release, including who owns them and what the status is. Impediments

added during a sprint are flagged as a risk when rolled up into CA Clarity PPM, providing enterprise visibility into the issues impeding team progress and the risks involved.

Dependencies Dependencies can be assigned between user stories, providing critical information regarding the relationships between user

stories. Users can see which stories have dependencies and quickly tell which stories are depending on a specific story.

Reporting Customizable burndown charts show completed work, remaining work, time to completion, cost, and other critical status

information. Reports can be recreated to include estimation accuracy lines, number of issues completed, severity of issues,

and user stories completed.

Quick access to critical information

A Flag column in lists provides quick access to critical information about backlog items such as impediments and dependencies.

By hovering over items in the column, detailed information pops up preventing the need to open the full detail page. Likewise,

user stories and tasks have a notification area at the top of each detail page identifying impediments and dependencies.

Global search Find information quickly using application-wide search with filtering capabilities. Users can search for key terms or IDs and jump directly to the applicable user stories, tasks, issues, releases, sprints, teams, epics, or themes. Users can filter searches on multiple criteria and save favorite filters for quick access.

Project ManagementExecute Projects with Control and Predictability

Projects are the delivery vehicle for the execution of most any strategy and thus are critical to transforming

ideas into innovation and business value within an organization. CA Clarity PPM’s integrated approach

helps organizations simplify project management complexity and reduce costs by maintaining real-time schedules, status, and budget controls.

Create the Right Project Plan

CA Clarity PPM supports any level of project planning, from the most basic to the most sophisticated.

With just a few mouse clicks, project managers can create simple plans for collaboration and the tracking

of key tasks and milestones, or detailed plans for capturing all of the information in a complex project. All

project requirements, resource and cost accounting activities are fully integrated, allowing for seamless

management throughout the project life cycle.

Build Plans from Best Practice Methodologies and Templates

Rather than starting from scratch, project managers can build their plans from pre-defined methodologies and templates included in CA Clarity PPM, content based on 30+ years of best practices

(client use cases/PMBOK/PMI).

CA Clarity PPM provides organizations the flexibility to choose Waterfall (Traditional), Agile (Scum) or Hybrid planning in the same project. The CA Clarity solution, including CA Clarity Agile, enables

organizations to:

• Clearly report progress, status, cost of projects, regardless of methodology (Traditional, Agile or Hybrid)

• Provide executive dashboards and articulate development value in a consistent, streamlined view

• Reflect, real time, the capacity of resources, no matter which type of project they are working on

• Empower your over-extended development staff to quickly update and report on progress in a single solution

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Schedule and Staff Your Projects Quickly and EffectivelyCA Clarity PPM makes it easy to schedule key tasks and milestones, manage project and resource

calendars, and group multiple subprojects into programs for schedule roll-up, all within the web-native CA Clarity environment. Users can leverage the CA Clarity Resource-Constrained Scheduling (RCS) algorithm within their web browsers to schedule project plans based on available resources rather than on task

duration, providing a more realistic plan in less time. Users can also create tentative schedules, make

changes and publish the schedule to the plan of record without having to download or maintain software.

For advanced scheduling and baselining, CA Clarity PPM integrates seamlessly with both Open Workbench

and Microsoft Project, making it easy to launch the preferred scheduling tool from within CA Clarity.

Manage Risks, Issues and Change Requests

CA Clarity PPM gives team members better control over project results by allowing them to

systematically manage risks, issues and change requests. Using PMBOK-compliant terminology and processes, risks are captured, evaluated and scored, allowing managers to focus on those with the

highest impact and probability. User-defined thresholds allow roll-up of critical risks to management dashboards for visibility and mitigation. Project managers can easily convert risks into issues, and issues

into change requests, while maintaining history and interdependencies. With all of the associated impact

information in one location, project team members can understand context, analyze trends, seek out root

causes and aggressively minimize overall project risk.

Effectively Manage Programs

When you need to manage large programs with a related series of projects, CA Clarity PPM allows you to

create and manage at the program level, providing top-down budgeting and forecasting as well as bottom-up risk, status, cost and schedule reporting for subprojects. Users can drill directly into the subproject details to manage more effectively and drive program success.

Execute with Precision

CA Clarity PPM makes it easy for your company to create reliable project plans and accurate estimates,

find and assign the best resources, leverage organizational knowledge and best practices, empower teams through collaboration, and deliver meaningful reporting and analysis. The result is that your

managers can deliver controlled and predictable execution of projects and programs, ensuring that the

initiatives that drive your business are delivered on time and on budget.

Features Benefits

Basic or detailed project

planning

Provides support for any level of project planning and collaboration, including capabilities to capture and control costs,

perform detailed resource scheduling, manage tasks against a timeline and track and complete deliverables.

Best practices methodologies Automatically builds project plans--including key tasks, milestones, role assignments and forms--based on your project managers’ answers to project profile questions. This allows you to build best practice plans for consistent use throughout your organization, including a phased WBS with tasks and activities, a project schedule, a budget and forecast,

Browser based WBS

management

Allows your project managers to build simple project plans, manage complex project tasks and make task assignments, all within the CA

Clarity PPM browser-based environment. This eliminates the need to launch separate desktop project management applications such as Microsoft Project and you can edit Gantt charts right in the interface.

Multiple project baselines Gives your project managers the ability to compare forecasted tasks and effort with current requirements and original budgets.

They can then modify their approach to the project midstream, making the strategic decisions necessary to come in on time

and on budget.

Custom fields and pages creation

Allows you to configure the system so that it captures and reflects information and processes unique to your business needs. CA Clarity makes it easy for your users to create custom fields and pages within CA Clarity PPM, and to arrange and label both standard and custom fields in the way that makes sense to your organization.

Scheduling & Staffing

Timesheets Provides your managers with complete access to all of the work your people are doing and all the costs associated with that

work. Users create timesheets that are automatically linked to their assignments where they not only record the time spent

working on tasks and incidents but also designate billing charges and attach explanatory notes.

Auto-populating timesheets Employees entering daily time can automatically populate their timesheets based on information submitted in the previous

week. When people are assigned new work, these tasks and incidents automatically appear on the timesheet for tracking.

Timesheet approval Provides oversight to ensure timesheets are accurate and complete before being submitted to billing. Timesheets are fully

enabled for workflows in the process engine, allowing your organization to set up simple or complex approval routing plans, including split approvals.

Offline timesheets Allows your mobile knowledge workers to track and review their time while disconnected from the network. Offline timesheets, managed in Microsoft Excel, are synchronized and submitted when the user reconnects to CA Clarity. Offline timesheets are available in all languages supported.

Resource ManagementMaximize the Return from your People

CA Clarity PPM is designed to bring you optimal results from your most valuable asset—your people. In

order to speed time-to-execution for the work you do, you must quickly find the right resources to solve complex problems. You have to staff your projects and programs with the right people, working on the

right tasks at the right time to ensure that you deliver value to your stakeholders.

Deploying the right resources to the right projects focused on driving growth of any organization is key to

your success. CA Clarity PPM enables you to manage the entire spectrum of resource requisitioning with

four major resource components:

Resource Finder: Quickly search for and select resources

Resource Capacity Planning: Gain portfolio insight of overall demand vs. capacity

Resource Requisitioning: Enable an efficient supply and demand process

Skills Management: Realize the full potential of resources

Match Your People to Your Project

Deploying skilled professionals on the right teams is one way to make sure you retain resources who can

contribute to the growth of your organization. CA Clarity PPM provides you with the tools you need to

understand the skill sets of individuals and to track their development, experience and interest, as well as

to manage the entire spectrum of resource requisitioning, searching and staff assignments.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Resource Finder enhances the staffing process by allowing you to quickly search for and select resources, then drill down to specific information about each person, including skills, current resource allocations and individual calendars. You can also view graphical displays that identify under- and over-utilized staff, making it easy to find available, qualified people across your entire global organization. Once a project is created in CA Clarity PPM, project managers can schedule project plans based on available resources rather than on task

duration, providing a more realistic plan in less time. Project managers can also assign non-project team members directly to tasks for more detailed planning and visibility of resource assignments.

Balance Your Resource Capacity and Project Demand

The Resource Capacity Planning feature in CA Clarity PPM gives you insight into your organization’s

portfolio, showing you how overall work (demand) compares with overall resource availability (capacity).

You can view aggregated summaries by organizational breakdown structure (OBS) hierarchies such as

geography, departments, project type and resource roles. Strategic planners can conduct what-if analyses on projects by changing project attributes to simulate different project scenarios. For example, you can

exclude lower priority projects that are not yet approved or shift project dates and resource allocations, to

see how demand requirements change. Maximizing your resources through capacity planning reduces your

costs while delivering successful programs.

Manage Resource Requests and Staffing

Resource Requisitioning allows you to efficiently gather the resources you need, both from the demand side and the supply side of the requisition process. It provides you with an efficient and orderly mechanism for communicating your resource requirements to resource managers. In addition, it provides

resource managers with the tools they need to quickly request, locate, and deploy the appropriate

resources with the right skills from both internal and external sources and communicate with you during

the entire process.

Identify and Track Key Skills and Experience

With continual employee training and development, and employee turnover, your company must confront

the challenge of tracking, categorizing and organizing employee skills. The

Skills Management tool lets you quickly identify the optimal resources available for each project. CA

Clarity brings you a method for understanding the skill sets of individuals, allowing you to track their

development, experience and interest levels.

Whether your organization uses a formal or informal requisition process to staff projects and other

activities, CA Clarity PPM gives you the flexibility you need to work the way you want and get the most value out of your resources.

graphs, tables or web page snippets—that are built and deployed by CA Clarity users. The portlets get their

information from the CA Clarity environment, other databases in your enterprise and external sources

available in HTML format, such as business news and network status information. CA Clarity’s security

capabilities ensure that your users see only the data for which they are authorized. You can configure portlets to deliver business intelligence in meaningful ways. Using extensive filtering, sorting and charting features, you can create insightful reports on key metrics such as cost, benefit, budget, status, risk, time, duration, availability and alignment.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Tailor CA Clarity to Your Own Business NeedsCA Clarity makes it easy to configure and extend business objects such as portfolios, applications, assets, resources, projects and ideas, making it extremely simple to tailor the application to your unique business

requirements across your entire organization.

Users can add additional business objects to the system as top-level or sub-objects; configure these with user-defined fields, forms, processes and portlets; and associate these objects with projects, tasks, resources, portfolios or other standard objects. You can also define and lay out forms with a mix of standard and user-defined fields, specify validation rules and default values, create list views with filters and sorts and establish hyperlinks between objects.

Any field or object you create is immediately available in the process engine, allowing workflow designers to provide input and output from your organization’s key processes, through a simple point-and-click web interface. Best of all, configurations are automatically and seamlessly carried forward to future versions of CA Clarity. Typically, this level of customization requires IT resources or costly consultants. With CA

Clarity, your users are empowered to build and manage their own CA Clarity personalization with a set of

intuitive and easy-to-use tools, minimizing the impact on your valuable IT resources.

Remove Bottlenecks and Reduce Cycle Time

Process management in CA Clarity adapts itself to your company’s unique business processes, linking a

knowledge-based approach with structured workflows. Workflow improves the quality of your processes, increases compliance and promotes consistency. It also decreases your time-to-completion and boosts customer satisfaction. Because CA Clarity monitors and measures performance against a number of KPIs,

your company benefits greatly from continuous process improvement.

Process management in CA Clarity also minimizes wasted time on assignment hand-offs and increases overall productivity by allowing your IT managers to track where each item is in the process and take

immediate action as unexpected problems crop up. New ideas can be automatically routed to reviewers and approvers through a pre-defined path.

Alerts are automatically sent to anyone who needs to take action, eliminating the need for endless

reminder emails and phone calls. Workflow notifications can include:

• Events, such as approvals and rejections

• To-dos, such as new assignments and action items

• Notes to fully explain follow-up actions

• Time submission and approval

• New documents added to the system

Workflow supports role-based assignments, so you can automate the selection of appropriate workers to perform action items or receive notifications.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Achieve Real-Time, End-to-End Business ProcessingAttaining maximum efficiency for your organization requires a combination of good, solid planning as well as the ability to respond quickly to changes and to integrate successfully with third party

applications. CA Clarity process management provides support for event-driven processes gives you the flexibility and agility you need to respond as quickly as necessary. For example, when a milestone is achieved or a phase is completed, a CA Clarity workflow can instantly start the review process to speed project delivery. Real-time job scheduling allows easy inter-application integration so users can share and update data as needed for process completion.

Create Powerful Workflows to Automate Your Business Processes

CA Clarity process management provides you with graphical workflows so you can visually control and track the flow of ideas, documents, resources, time sheets, forms and investment proposals.

Your process designers can easily create workflows and make them available to all users throughout your enterprise. These workflows can take actions on all objects in the system. For example, project templates can use workflows to automate the creation of projects and to ensure that processes follow the right procedures, such as what work specific people can do and how and when they can do it. Organizational breakdown structures can drive these templates, which mean that different departments or business

units can follow their own unique business processes.

Clarity process management offers the following out-of-the-box processes to get your workflow designers up and running:

• Document Approval

• Time Sheet Approval

• Idea Approval

• New Product Development

Not only is CA Clarity workflow easy to use, it’s also powerful, providing nine control flow patterns to meet the requirements of your most complex and multi-faceted processes. The process engine can access any field added by your power users, providing complete visibility into all workflow data.

Clarity process management also supports phase-gate methodologies, ensuring that best practices are adhered to throughout your organization. This enables a gate review at the end of each project phase and

allows your review committees to specify the conditions for exiting from the gate. As each gate is passed,

the workflow can be configured to automatically copy the next set of tasks, documents, roles, budgets and forms from the template into the project, creating all of the underlying information necessary to

complete the current phase.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

CA Clarity Solution Platform & ArchitectureA foundation of flexibility, scalability, and security

The architecture of the CA Clarity solution brings you the scalability, configurability, integration, global availability, security and multi-platform support that guarantee your Project & Portfolio Management implementation will be driven by your business goals and objectives rather than technology constraints.

Scale Economically Up to Tens of Thousands of Users

CA Clarity PPM is based around a three-tiered architecture that you can scale to virtually any number of users. Because it was built from the ground up to fully embrace J2EE, CA Clarity PPM provides you with the standards-based services you need to deliver scalable and reliable deployments and Web services. J2EE-compliant deployments allow for portability across heterogeneous platforms and interoperability with other J2EE-compliant applications.

• The client tier eliminates desktop maintenance headaches, as its ultra-thin web client doesn’t require desktop software installations, downloads, Silverlight, java applets or ActiveX controls.

• The application tier serves as a gateway between the client and data tiers. Clarity’s underlying J2EE application server controls all flow and business logic is performed here via services and a core set of APIs.

• The data tier contains both a transactional and a business intelligence repository. The integrated data

mart facilitates rapid reporting without negatively impacting the performance of day-to-day system use.

CA Clarity PPM is stateless, allowing clustered configurations that bring you the highest possible levels of performance and availability. It supports horizontal scaling by replicating services, such as the

application server, onto multiple services in a cluster. The result is massive application scalability, as well

as fault tolerance and fast failover. In addition, database clustering offers full redundancy and failover

capabilities that increase uptime and further limit the potential for lost data.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Implement a Solution that Breaks Down All Location Barriers

CA Clarity PPM allows all of your users to access the same information no matter where they are located, so

that everyone can always be on the same page. A multilingual application with Unicode support for double-byte languages, Clarity enables users around the world to work on the same installation in their native

language. The locale function enables users in different time zones to receive all events and notifications in their local time. And CA Clarity PPM supports multicurrency for your cost, benefit, expense, rate, billing, invoicing and chargeback transactions. Because today’s mobile workers who use low-bandwidth lines, PDAs or notebook computers are challenged by network bandwidth issues, CA Clarity PPM limits the amount of

network resources utilized by compressing the data being sent to the browser from the server using java

compression, which uses an average of seven times less network bandwidth than uncompressed data.

Be Confident About the Security of Your Data

To protect your company’s sensitive project, product, financial and personnel information, CA Clarity PPM can be deployed so that all communication from server to browser is sent via a SSL-encrypted connection. It can be integrated with an existing LDAP v3 compliant directory server for authentication, making the

implementation process even more efficient. To support single sign-on, your organization can deploy CA SiteMinder® along with CA Clarity PPM.

Rather than relying solely on individual user information to grant or deny access, CA Clarity PPM offers

much more powerful and flexible security administration based on roles, groups and OBS. Roles and groups define the rights a user has to perform actions and the OBS determines what the user can see and act upon. The combination of these two security models makes security management far less tedious and

time-consuming as users change jobs or move around in your organization. Additionally, OBS-based security allows you to construct virtual walls between business units that share a common system, but

that still need to operate independently.

Choose the Best Platform

CA Clarity PPM runs on industry-leading operating systems (AIX, Red Hat Linux, SUSE Linux, and Windows) and relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle). At the application tier, Apache Tomcat is included with Clarity (embedded Black-Box) and customers have CA Technologies Support as a one-stop option for application server support. This platform proves cost-effective and efficient for your installation.

The Security and Flexibility of Force.com

The CA Clarity solution components of CA Clarity Agile, CA Clarity Requirements, and CA Clarity Ideation

are built on the Force.com platform. Force.com is an extremely powerful, scalable and secure cloud

platform, delivering a complete technology stack covering the ground from database and security to

workflow and user interface. Force.com is one of the most widely-used SaaS platforms today, with more than 220,000 applications running on it used by over 100,000 companies. Force.com has extraordinary

reliability and world-class data centers with backup, failover, and disaster-recovery, and an uptime record exceeding 99.9%. CA Clarity Agile, CA Clarity Requirements, and CA Clarity Ideation are built on the Force.

THE CA CLARITY™ SOLUTION

Key Features: CA Clarity™ On Demand

Features Benefits

Firewall security Inspection firewalls are in place that stop all incoming traffic, analyze it, and prevent standard internet attacks. Application servers are located in a demilitarized zone (DMZ), which is separated from the service database servers by a firewall. Only the necessary ports are opened between the DMZ and the internal trusted network.

Encryption All web traffic is protected by 256 bit SSL encryption and 2048 bit RSA public keys. The CA Clarity PPM application is set up to run under SSL to encrypt all user sessions.

Authentication CA Clarity On Demand customers may utilize a standard user name/password authentication scheme. Optionally, a federated

single sign-on (SSO) authentication is available for customers with the capability of producing SAML authentication packages. Federated SSO allows for greater customer control for access methods and timing.

Authorization Over 150 individual rights, roles, or groups can be used to secure application functionality and data records. Additionally,

standard audit trail functionality can be configured for most objects and attributes to capture creation, edits, and deletions of selected data records or attributes.

Data integrity CA Clarity On Demand customers are deployed in a stateless application environment connected to Oracle database instances.

With failover at the application tier, the application data model is designed to guarantee data integrity by modeling data

transactions into transaction units that are saved (committed) to the database in one batch. In the event a database instance

goes offline, the pending transactions resume once the database is restored.

Data segregation CA Clarity On Demand customer data is segregated in separate logical databases.

Permissions Additional application security is provided through permissions based on roles and organizational breakdown structures.

Using these permission schemes, the CA Clarity PPM application can be configured to allow or deny access to features and

data in accordance with any business need. CA Technologies also implements best practices in guarding from outside

threats. Each customer’s data and configurations are stored in a dedicated database schema with security rights restricted

at the database level.

SSAE 16 auditing The CA Clarity On Demand service is subject to an annual SSAE 16 compliance audit. The resulting Service Organization

Controls (SOC) Report includes the auditor's opinion on the fairness of the presentation of the CA Technologies description of

controls that have been placed in operation and the suitability of the design of the controls to achieve the specified control objectives, and the auditor's opinion on whether the specific controls were operating effectively during the period under review. Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization, was finalized by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in January 2010. SSAE 16 effectively replaces SAS 70 as the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

Data center security CA Technologies data centers have multiple levels of security to protect customer information. This protection includes

physical and logical security measures. All data centers have highly restricted access and use physical security measures. All

areas of each data center are monitored using CCTV, and all access points are controlled. The center is staffed with security officers around the clock and any entry is scrutinized. CA Technologies also maintains a department of security engineers with new security employees and contractors subjected to background checks.
