Have your cake and eat it too… …a few new (Valentine) tricks to try out in the bedroom
Didn’t your grandmother ever tell you; the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? Brûlée Bakery’s Chef Lila sure knows that (just ask her husband) and to help ignite a little passion, she’s baking something special that both sexes can enjoy without ever leaving the boudoir.
Start your Day of Love with breakfast in bed: a mix of croissants and muffins of your choice and an 9-‐inch quiche, again your pick. You’re going to need a lot of stamina, so to keep you going, consider another tasty treat for your sweet: a dozen mini cookies in drool-‐worthy combinations such as Rosemary Shortbread, Chocolate Chunk, Cornmeal-‐Lime Zest and Peanut Butter. And for after that romantic dinner (if you make it downstairs), recoup your energy by feeding each other red velvet macaron bites or forkfuls of chocolate ganache cake. Of course if you must go the traditional meal-‐out route, these delectable goodies will complement a cozy after-‐dinner toddy or snug. So go ahead, be naughty.
Brûlée Bakery, once a predominantly mobile operation, has recently found a home at The Artisan Exchange, an indoor farmers market located in West Chester, which features products from more than 25 local, sustainably minded food artisans. Brûlée aficionados can stock up on Chef Lila’s cookies, brownies, quiches and freshly baked croissants for the week every Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. Fans will also be able to find their favorite treats at Saxby’s in Haverford as well as on the shelves of Kimberton Whole Foods, and their gluten-‐free line of baked goods is available at Martindale’s Natural Foods in Springfield. In May, Brûlée will return to the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Bryn Mawr.
ABOUT BRULEE BAKERY: Chef Lila launched Brûlée Bakery in May 2011 with a vision to create “desserts with a conscience” by implementing the exclusive use of natural ingredients and sustainable practices to support local and global community development. She earned her degree in pastry arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York City and has worked for industry heavyweights including Steven Starr, Wolfgang Puck, Georges Perrier, and the Food Network. Local partnerships include the Artisan Exchange, Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, and Natural by Nature Organics. Brûlée Bakery offers delivery within the limits of Center City, the Main Line and West Chester, and happily ships. Customers can stay informed about menu items and specials on Twitter and Facebook. Baked goods can be ordered online at bruleebakery.com and picked-‐up at Brûlée’s new production kitchen (208
Carter Drive, Suite 13 B, in West Chester, PA.).
