They will place great emphasis on looking at print and developing the concept of one-to-one matching to help students understand that print conveys meaning. Through the use of shared reading, big books, songs, poems, and charts that the entire class has studied your children will learn how to activate their reading “Super Powers”. The students will learn how to use “Pointer Power” as they read unfamiliar texts which highlights one-to-one matching, tapping each word just once, and checking that their reading makes sense. We look forward to watching the children use their super powers to become super readers! From the Nurse’s Desk and Safety Tips Tis’ the season to be Jolly, Safe and Healthy!! A perfect opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends, here are some holiday healthy tips to support your health and stay safe this season. Wash your hands often : An important step in avoiding getting sick and spreading germs. Stay Warm: Stay dry, and dress warmly. Manage stress: Stay relaxed, and get proper sleep. Travel Safety: Wear a seatbelt, buckle your child. Be smoke-free: Avoid smoking and breathing other people’s smoke. Get check-ups and vaccinations: Exams and screening can prevent potential problems. Vaccinations help prevent diseases and save lives. Practice Fire Safety: Have an emergency plan and practice regularly. Eat Healthy, stay active. Eat fruits and vegetables. Be active. Celebrate the growth in your child’s writing thus far, and rally them around the prospect of working really hard and making their writing get even better. Math Workshop In our Go Math program during the month of December, Kindergarten students are learning how to represent, count, write and compare numbers 0 through 10 to answer the essential question “How can you show and compare numbers to 10”. As students practice counting forward to 10 and develop their counting skills, they begin to understand how to model ways to make 10 and how to compare numbers to 10. Rainbow Kids Rainbow Kids Assembly will focus on “O – We are Outstanding”. This month our students are learning how to be outstanding members in the school community. We will continue to recognize their efforts in demonstrating good citizenship. Parents please remember to check the Rainbow Kids calendar daily and confer with the classroom teacher if you have any questions. Physical Education CornerPhysical education is an essential part of healthy living for people of all age groups. Participation in regular physical activity promotes normal growth and development by helping youth build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints. Physical activity helps reduce the risk of developing obesity and chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and promotes psychological well-being. Please remember to have your child wear sneakers on gym days.  During inclement weather your child may wear boots to school and change into sneakers upon arrival to the classroom.  If you are not aware of the Physical Education schedule, please contact the classroom teacher.

Don’t forget your sneakers onGYM days!!!

en esta unidad, ellos aprenderán a usar diferentes recursos informativos (el significado, gramática, y el sonido de las letras). Pondrán

énfasis al mirar la escritura y el desarrollo del concepto uno a uno para comparar y eso enseñará a los estudiantes que lo impreso tiene significado. A través de la práctica de compartir la lectura, libros grandes, canciones, poemas y ayudas visuales que la clase ha estudiado, sus hijos/as aprenderán como activar el “Súper Poder” de la lectura. Los estudiantes aprenderán a usar el “Poder de Señalar” a medida que ellos leen textos no conocidos los cuales son interesantes para juntarlos uno a uno, enfatizando cada palabra, y comprobando que la lectura tiene sentido.

Taller de Escritura Este mes los estudiantes continuarán escribiendo historias que la gente puede leer. Este mes los estudiantes escribirán textos que sus amigos/as pueden leer, también por la organización de escritura ellos se convertirán en lectores. ! Hay que celebrar el logro en la escritura de su hijo/a y anímelos a trabajar mucho y hacer que escriban aún mejor en el porvenir.

Taller de Matemáticas En nuestro programa Go Math de Diciembre, los estudiantes del Jardín de Niños están aprendiendo como representar, contar, escribir y comparar números del 0 al 10 para

contestar la pregunta esencial “¿Cómo puedes mostrar y contar los números hasta el 10?” Al practicar y desarrollar la habilidad de conteo progresivo hasta el 10, ellos/ellas comienzan a entender como modelar maneras para hacer grupos de 10 y comparar números dentro del 10.

Valores de CaracterLa educación física es una parte esencial de salud para la gente de todas las edades y grupos. La participación regular en actividades físicas promueve un crecimiento y desarrollo normal ayudando a los jóvenes a desarrollar y mantener huesos, músculos y articulaciones saludables. La actividad física ayuda a reducir el riesgo del desarrollo de obesidad y enfermedades crónicas como la diabetes tipo 2, problemas cardiovasculares, también promueve el bienestar psicológico. En días de gimnasio, por favor que su hijo traiga zapato tenis. En días fríos, su hijo/a puede vestir con botas y cambiarse los zapatos al llegar al salón. Si usted no está enterada del horario de la clase de Educación Física, por favor comuníqueselo a la maestra.

¡No olvide sus zapatos tenis en el día de Gimnasio!
