Activity Directions Objective: CCSS.Math.Content.8.G.B.8

Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between two points in a

coordinate system. Included in this activity are a map, 10 task cards, 2 Challenge task cards, and a student worksheet to complete work for the task cards, and write the answers.

You can place the task cards around the room and use them as review stations (Carousel) or students can work in small groups completing each of the cards as a cooperative learning activity. The two challenge cards require more steps and can be used at your discretion for early finishers, advanced, bonus points, or even as a follow-up assignment for independent work or homework.

You will need to instruct students to apply the given scale and have them round the answers if necessary to whatever you prefer. The answer key is given to the nearest 10th of a meter.
