Who is this course targeted for?

The below listed target groups can be individuals working either in the public or the private sector, and in all industries specifically but not limited to the financial services and i-Gaming sector;

any person who, in the carrying out of his duties, processes personal data, including personal data representatives, Chief Information Officers, IT managers, compliance officers, internal auditors, records managers, human resources managers, administration officers and marketing managers;

new Data Protection Officers who need to be trained in data protection matters;

officers/officials/practitioners experienced in data protection issues.

Any specific entry requirements?

Previous exposure to data protection would put the candidate in an advantageous position although this is not essential to the course.

Course Objectives

The overall objective of the course is to produce qualified Data Protection Officers (DPOs) capable of carrying out duties and responsibilities in line with the Maltese Data Protection Act and related legislation, by applying best practices, methodologies and standards adopted by the EU.

The course will focus on the processing of personal data within organisations.

At the end of the course, a participant will have achieved:

an understanding of the way that the Act, and related legislation work;

an understanding of what has to be done to achieve compliance;

the ability to review practices and procedures and introduce Data Protection controls in business processes;

the ability to conduct on his/her own initiative Data protection Audits and Privacy Impact Assessments and be able to take part in initiatives relating to information security; and

the ability to provide awareness training as required to staff members in their organisation.

Course Shedule

Module 1: Maltese Data Protection Law

Module 2: Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Protection Audits

Lectures are 3 hours each and are held once a week.

Price - € 1,400

A CPD Award Qualification accredited at MQF Level 5 by the National Commission of Higher and Further Education (NCFHE) will be presented to delegates who successfully attend all modules and pass the assessment.
