Christopher Brubeck Grammy-nominated composer Chris Brubeck continues to distinguish himself as one of the finest jazz trombonists and bassists around today, as well as an innovative composer tuned to the pulse of contemporary music. Chris has been commissioned to write many works and, in 2013, will premiere two new children’s pieces, one of which was commissioned by the Kennedy Center and recently performed by the National Symphony Orchestra. Since early 2013, Chris and his brothers have been paying tribute to their late father Dave Brubeck’s musical legacy in many locations, and will continue his tribute this summer with Brubecks Play Brubeck.

While in his teens, Eigsti played with Dave Brubeck and David Benoit, and has performed with countless other jazz luminaries. He has written a growing repertoire of music for jazz ensemble and symphony orchestra, including a world premiere work performed with Oakland East Bay Symphony in 2012.

Dave Brubeck Dave Brubeck (December 6, 1920 – December 5, 2012), an American jazz pianist and composer, was designated a “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress. With a career that spanned over six decades, his music is known for employing unusual time signatures, and superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities.

His long-time musical partner, alto saxophonist Paul Desmond, wrote the saxophone melody for the Dave Brubeck Quartet’s best remembered piece, “Take Five”, which is in 5/4 time and has endured as a jazz classic on one of the top-selling jazz albums, Time Out.

“His music will always live on…”

Dayna StephensInternationally renowned saxophonist/ composer/educator Dayna Stephens has been described as a fluid, vigorous soloist with a warm, soulful sound. Dayna has also proven himself a master of composition and arrangement, a highly acclaimed band leader and an in-demand side man for contemporary jazz masters such as Kenny Barron, Idris Mohammed, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Hargrove.

Frederica von StadeDescribed by the New York Times as “one of America’s finest artists and singers,” Frederica von Stade continues to be extolled as one of the music world’s most beloved figures. Known to family, friends, and fans by her nickname “Flicka,” the mezzo-soprano has enriched the world of classical music for three decades. Her career has taken her to the stages of the world’s great opera houses and concert halls. She debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in 1970 and has sung many of her great roles with that company over the years.

Wesla Whitfield and Mike GreensillWesla Whitfield and Mike Greensill are highly revered performers in the jazz/cabaret tradition both locally and nationally. In their 30 year collaboration they have performed in prestigious concert halls and music venues throughout the world and have made 21 recordings together.
