PRELUDE LORD OF ALL HOPEFULNESS (PAUL MANZ)

HYMN OF PROMISE (NATALIE SLEETH) BEAUTIFUL SAVIOR (ROBERT HOBBY)

ENTRANCE HYMN THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

1 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suff'ring and shame;

and I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.

2 Oh, that old rugged cross so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above,

to bear it to dark Calvary. Refrain

3 To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,

its shame and reproach gladly bear; Christ will call me some day to my home far away, where his glory forever I'll share. Refrain

PSALMODY PSALM 23 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil;

for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

GOSPEL JOHN 14:1-6 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe[a] in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to

prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are

going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

HYMN 608 SOFTLY AND TENDERLY JESUS IS CALLING

1 Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me. See, on the portals he's waiting and watching,

watching for you and for me.

Refrain "Come home, (Come home,)

come home! (come home!)

You who are weary, come home." Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, "O sinner, come home!"

2 Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,

pleading for you and for me? Why should we linger and heed not his mercies, mercies for you and for me? Refrain

3 Oh, for the wonderful love he has promised,

promised for you and for me!

Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon, pardon for you and for me. Refrain

MESSAGE REV. DR. ED TREAT

PRAYERS/LORD’S PRAYER

COMMENDATION L: Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant, June. Acknowledge, we hum-

bly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.

C: Amen. L: Let us go forth in the Peace of Christ.

RECESSIONAL HYMN 779 AMAZING GRACE

1 Amazing grace! how sweet the sound

that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.

2 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

3 The Lord has promised good to me; his word my hope secures;

he will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.

4 When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,

we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we'd first begun.
