A Brief Report on the World AIDS Day Celebration
The NSS unit along with SBSI 100 interns of GCASCK participated in the Goa Red Ribbon
Fest 2019 organised by Human Touch Foundation on 30th November at Jardim Garcia De
Orta, Panjim to celebrate World AIDS Day and to spread the awareness among Schools, Higher
Secondary Schools and College Students. On arrival at the venue we got registered. Following
which was the inaugural program which comprised of the following dignitaries viz., Ms Celina
D’Costa, Peter F. Borges and Wendell Rodricks as the Chief Guest of honour. The program
compromised of many competitions and performances which focused on providing the society
with knowledge of HIV-AIDS and reducing its stigma from society. The programme started at
10:30 a.m. It started with the inaugural function and giving potted flowering plants to Chief
Guest Shri Wendell Rodrigues.
Quiz Competition: It commenced at 12:00 p.m. in which two students viz., Rohit Sawant and
Harshad Gaude from FYBSc participated wherein the participant had to answer with 20
questions to answer in 10 minutes. However, our college students did not qualify for the further
rounds.
Face Painting: Kartik Naik and Lilavati Papathi participated in the same wherein Kartik Naik
painted the face of Lilavati Papathi.
T-Shirt Painting: Gaurav Gawas from FYBSc and Vaishanavi Chari of SYBSc participated and
displayed their talents.
Slogan Writing Competition: Nagraj Govenkar and Chetan Laate participated in slogan writing
competition. Chetan Laate of FYBCom secured 1st place for the best slogan.
Essay Writing Competition: Gaurang Gokuldas Naik of SYBA participated and secured the
2nd place or was declared the runners up for the same.
Besides the competition, several students got themselves tested for HIV-AIDS.
Following which group pictures were taken.
Post event celebration was held at Domino’s Pizza which comprised of a wonderful treat of
some yummy pizzas wherein all had a wonderful time.
