A Brief Report on 1-Day Workshop on
Revised Accreditation Framework of NAAC
Jointly Organized by
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
&
Surana College, Bengaluru
One day workshop on Revised Accreditation framework of National Assessment &
Accreditation Council was organized on January 11th, 2019 as an initiative of IQAC, Surana
College, Bangalore [Accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade (CGPA: 3.44)], for non-accredited colleges.
The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. K. R Vishnu Mahesh, Assistant Adviser,
NAAC, Bengaluru, Dr. N. Sajan IQAC Coordinator, Shree Narayan College, Kannur, Prof. S.
Kavunthi, IQAC Coordinator, SNMV college of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, and other invited
dignitaries.
Dr. A. Srinivas, IQAC Director/Coordinator, Surana College in his welcome address emphasized on
the importance of collaboration, need for networking for conducting such workshops and gave the
program details. Principal, Dr. Shakunthala Samuelson along with Dr. A. Srinivas, IQAC
Director/Coordinator, Prof. Mini K Abraham, HOD Department of Commerce and
Prof. Muralidhar, HOD Department of Management honored the resource persons.
The Workshop witnessed 170 participants from 52 colleges (16 colleges were not
accredited and 36 accredited colleges) from south India (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu,
and Kerala.)
The workshop comprised of 4 sessions beginning with key note address on awareness of RAF by
Dr. K. R. Vishnu Mahesh, talk by Prof. S. Kavunti, talk by Dr. N. Sajan and Q and A session
followed by valedictory.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
To Understand the Revised Accreditation framework
To mentor the nearby colleges which are not accredited by NAAC
To clarify the doubts of accredited colleges regarding the 7 criteria’s
To achieve self reliability in preparation of Self Study Report effectively
To share the experience of colleges accredited under Revised accreditation framework
Expected Outcomes:
Clarity on preparation and submission of SSR
Effective Documentation Skill
Clarity regarding effective preparation and presentation during NAAC peer visit
Quality Enhancement at the affiliated colleges
Process of Programme:
Dr. K. R. Vishnu Mahesh addressed the following:
Comparative analysis of old methodology and new RAF
Eligibility conditions to Higher Educational Institutions (HEI’s) to apply for A&A
process
Instructions to the HEI’s for submission of IIQA and the list of documents required and
to be uploaded
The segregation of quantitative and qualitative data
Pre and post preparation required for A&A process
Grading system adopted in RAF
Prof. S. Kavunti emphasized on the following:
A&A process with reference to online and on site assessment
Competency mapping of faculty with reference to allocation of subjects to be maintained
Preparation SSR and quality indicator framework
List of documents required for qualitative and quantitative metrics
Dr. N. Sajan stressed the importance on the following:
Preparatory Session on NAAC- SSR & Re-accreditation New Format
Discussed on the all Metrics and Weightage distribution with reference to each criteria.
Criteria 2 and criteria 5 plays a vital role in getting good grade
How to manage & Consolidate data for the Phases of Pre & Post SSR submission
