Prologue

It is a slightly windy day as I am sitting in an empty living room (in

fact I do not have the television on which is sort of strange for SamThompson, but hey, sometimes I can be unpredictable), and I am studyingthe big picture of Christ that is located on the wall that is behind the t.v.while at the same time thinking about my school life, (and I am also waitingfor a phone call from Laura Daniels).

Now one might think that I would probably be at least slightlyconcerned as to where my mom and dad are right at this moment, but thetruth is that they have been so absent from a large portion my life so thatnow I am really used to this sort of thing.

Just a few moments more have gone by, and then the white house

phone rings (so I nearly bolt out of my seat in excitement). However when Ianswer it, I ended finding out that it is not who I was thinking it was (as amatter of a fact, it is my from uncle John Thompson, and right before thetwo of us hang up from each other, he quickly adds the fact that he hasplans for the use of his cabin that is up in the Cascade Mountains and heis wondering whether or not I would like to have some use of it).

Rapidly, I think about it and then tell him yes I would love it and Ideeply appreciate this opportunity that he is giving me. That is when himand I tell each other that we love one another, and we finally say our goodbyes before hanging up. Now while my first thoughts were slight

disappointment that Laura has not called so I have a frown on my face, assoon as I start to think about I realized that my uncle John's cabin couldbecome a great spot to spend some quality time with those that I care somuch for (so my frown slowly turns into a big smile), and that is when I turnaround to go head upstairs to my room.

Chapter 1



The Beginning Friday, October 12 th, 1993

Welcome to any fellow ladies and gentlemen that are joining us, and for those that are wondering who is speaking my name is Samuel "Sam" Thompson,and it just happens to be my grand privilege to do all that I can in order to goabout the simple process of telling you about this particular story (which thisstory, at least in my mind, is also kind of a somewhat dramatic story as far as Ican see, although I also do realize that it could end up seeming to be sort of different to many other people).

Now, as far as the beginning details of this part of this story goes, I feelthat I will actually just begin it by first telling all of those readers what I can aboutwhat is simply going on with little, 'old', me. For the most part, I have to start outby saying that right now I am just simply spending a little time 'hanging out' with

some of my close friends that are all from the very same high school that I go to,(which because of the fact that there could be someone who would how probablylike to know, I am definitely feeling that I must say here that this school is actuallylocated within the city limits of Republic, and anyone who is in knowing whichstate this city is in, this city can actually be found in the northwestern State of Washington).

Well, now that I have started this story by saying that, I should honor myreaders by introducing all of those that are currently with me, and I know thatnobody really did ask this of me, (besides, at least in my opinion sometimes itreally is a better thing for people to at least attempt to be a gentleman).

Anyways so with that being the case, it is now certainly my really great

pleasure to first thing first introduce my only high school buddy (in fact we haveknown each other since we were both little kids), Dwayne 'The Wall' Robinsonalthough in my view, it seems almost like he has just a little bit of a big egotisticalattitude that goes along with the extremely ripped body of his (if I did not knowbetter by looking at the way his body is, I could almost swear that The Wall wasprobably a male model at one point, because at least everyone seems to knowhim well and Dwayne always seems to have money on hand).

The thing is that I know that Dwayne Robinson always did want to be asports star (well, just recently he got his wish, even though at this certainly pointit really just being a receiver in the Republic High School football team). Now asfar as introducing all of the others who are standing here with me, I can certainly

say that these are all also different friends that have mainly came from all of thesame schools that I have been to: mostly it is really Jeremiah "The J-Man"Johnson (who seems to me to be an extremely religious person, and a kind of shy guy at some times), and actually there was even good, old Nick Robertsonhere as well (now for the most part it is my opinion that good old Nick is really anatural born, "and true" leader to all those that wanted his help).

Now that is done it can also be said that right at this particular moment, allfour of us are just standing near the top step of the rather old looking stone



stairway that leads down to the high school football field, and we are in themiddle of having what seems like an intense conversation with each other (infact, this conversation is one that I can only describe as kind of interesting, andtruly I can say that for the most part this conversation has in the direct past beenmostly between Dwayne and myself).

As a matter of a fact, right now mostly it is just containing us being reallybusy laughing out loud at the very same time as each other at a little joke that Ihad just said (which was really a tiny little comment about our new high schoolprincipal, and some of the principal's recent reactions at the current actions of this schools teenagers while they were gathered inside of the school cafeteria, sopersonally I am willing to take a wild guess that because of the fact that any of those who were listening to what was being said right now would probablyunderstand why we were all finding this funny).

Of course, it is also sort of hard to not admit that it really was a little bit of asurprise to me when right out of the wild blue yonder, there was my beautifulgirlfriend Laura Daniels who was appearing to be headed in precisely the same

direction I was currently in, (even though it was pretty clear to me that she wasdefinitely not looking at me, although it was not very hard to not notice that everyonce while her eyes were slipping over to my direction, and it did look like therewas also two other beautiful ladies who were walking right along side of her,although to me, their faces showed them as girls that had kind of paler skin, atleast in comparison to Laura Daniels, but that is only by my opinion).

Now after there was a few moments more that passed on by, and as theycame closer, to me it looked like both of those other two beautiful girls happenedto suddenly appear to me like they were actually the twin sisters known as theWalkers, (now both of those sisters, who I pretty much know from confrontationsat our school, will probably never really go anywhere without having the other

sister around, or at least making sure that one knows almost exactly where theother one is going to be at). As a matter of a fact, who really knows what either of those girls reactions would actually become if they were suddenly separated fromeach other for any long length of time (but hey, I am pretty sure that neither onewould have a really hard time, after all, they were both really smart despite how'prissy' they might act sometimes).

So, right when those girls had come walking all the way around the highschool gym, to me it almost seemed to me like they were just about prancing inthere steps as each of the ladies was continually moving on forward just aboutright next to each other. In fact, I can say that each of them was definitely at apace that was sort of fast, and also it seemed like they might even once in awhile have a slight skip added to a step, or two, that they took. Where each of those ladies was actually coming from (as far as I could see) was really rightaround the left far corner of the Republic high school gym, (and yes, the biggymnasium is right nearby to be the stairway to the high school football field,although by now, the field itself looks like it needs a little bit of some repair).

Right as soon it had become clear to me of where all those ladies wereheaded off towards, I then had come to the realization that each one of the ladieswere apparently deep into some sort of a conversation (which, from the looks



that was on their faces, seemed to be kind of intense in some sort of a way).Although, I have to admit that for the most part I was concentrating on the face of Laura Daniels as she was heading towards me.

In fact, I quickly found out that all three of them were so into whatever theconversation was, that actually all three of them were quite busy laughing like

they were all in a way kind of crazy (actually, I later found out that Laura wascurrently the main one that was mainly the one that was laughing out loud, eventhough the other two were also laughing, but apparently they were trying to holdit in as well as they were also both appearing as if they were both seeming tohave a slight hard time in the way that they were breathing).

However before I knew about any of that, I looked away from those girls just in time to see that suddenly the guy I know as Dwayne Robinson had leanedforward a little bit (it was my guess that the reason for this was to apparentlymake some sort of an attempt to possibly see just where those girls were actuallycoming from). So then as I was watching him, Dwayne quickly turned around tohis right side just in time to face the young man that had the name of Jeremiah 'J-

Man' Johnson (which I do know that this had also happened right before any of those girls had actually came close enough over to us so that they were withinearshot of us guys).

Apparently, once Dwayne could easily see that he would actually be ableto be staring eye-to-eye with Jeremiah (and I bet that thought that was most likelygoing through his head was that he probably figuring that automatically meantthat he probably had J-Man's attention), so that was when Dwayne went onahead to say right to Jeremiah’s face, "Hey there J-Man, I got to be quite frankhere, and ask you this particularly question that I have here for you. How muchdo you want to bet with me that you really don't have the guts to be what is a realman by actually going on up to ask Christina Walker out for this weekend? I

mean, come on now J-Man. I am sure that we all want to see that you really arebeing a man, (and that is not by seeing that you are taking your time, which isalso represented by you are starting to skip out on us like some high schoolnobody)!"

Right as soon as the moment had passed on by when we could all tell thatDwayne Robinson most likely had finally finished saying all of that was on hismind, those of us that were there were slightly surprised when it was JeremiahJohnson who first looked right up into the air (which was apparently in order to

just give off what turned out to be a very big sigh). Which was soon to be directlyfollowed by Jeremiah then turning his head around just enough so he happenedto be ending up looking down at his slightly big feet, and it was right after a fewseconds, when he put himself in the process of simply just shaking his headaround just a little bit of time.

After a minute or two more had passed on by (and yes we could also seethat all three of the girls had ending up coming right up to all of us guys and theyhad simply just stopped right in their tracks), it was at that moment that we allcould easily see it that it was now Jeremiah who quickly looking up right beforehe turned his head directly over to Dwayne Robinson in order so Jeremiah knewthat he was saying right to his friend, "You know what, Big Man? In a weird way,



that is really quite a very funny statement, Dwayne. However, even you happento know that even someone who is like Nick Robertson over here, has had themost 'interesting' time even getting just one of those gorgeous Walker sisters togo out on any type of a date with him, and I am willing to bet that it would beeven harder to make that date with only just one of them (seeing how they never

seem to really be happy going anywhere without the other sister being there aswell).”It was also right at the moment when that last word had come from his

mouth when I was able to see that Jeremiah Johnson had just stood back for athe next minute, (which turned out to be in order for to once more quickly shakehis head back and forth a little), which was soon followed up by J-man adding onto what he had just said by now saying to Dwayne Robinson (along with a slightsmirk that I had not seen there before), "Although, while knowing Nick Robertsonas being the type of guy that he has seemed to be these days, I am pretty surethat if the situation ever did arise that he must be with both of the Walker sistersat the same time, someone like him just might not actually mind having a three-

some either (even if it was only just the three of them sitting around as they werehaving a little chit-chat)."Now almost right as soon as Jeremiah Johnson had finished saying all of

that, it was not much of a surprise when we all discovered that we could all nowclearly see that Nick Robertson was looking over very sharply at Jeremiah's face(and also it was clear that Nick suddenly had a expression that was acombination that appeared to be of amusement, and maybe even some disgust).Also, right at that very moment that Nick could easily see for an absolute fact thatJeremiah was looking right at him, Nick Robertson quickly made sure to say tohim, “Ok J-Man, I am pretty sure that on the last line of what you just said, youwere probably just trying to be sarcastic (and maybe it was that you were even

making a poor attempt to be funny). However, if this conversation ever doesarrive again, please do me a really big favor and don’t go dragging me into any of these immature discussions. After all, in reality this is actually a discussion that isreally only a conversation that should be just between the two of you guys (soonce more I feel it necessary to say, please leave me out of it). Now, if all of therest of you guys will excuse me, I do have to say that I am going to leave thislocation as of this moment.”

As a matter of a fact, it was quickly after Nick Robinson had actuallycompleted saying all of those words when it was then that Nick turned himself around so he was facing that concrete ledge once more so he could quickly graba hold of a tall plastic cup (in fact, that particular cup still seemed as if it was alsostill steaming hot by the looks of it).

After Nick had picked up that cup obviously in order to take a quick sip of its contents (personally, I am hoping that whatever it was inside of that cup didnot contain any alcohol as Nick Robertson has been suspected of slipping someof that addictive stuff into his thermos before pouring the contents into differentschool cups), he turned back around once more so he could quickly walk past ustowards what was the direction of the Republic High School parking lot.

Well, a few more minutes happened to pass on by without anyone else



saying or doing a thing, and then it turned out that it was I who ended up decidingto quickly turn sharply around so I could come face to face with JeremiahJohnson. Now after there was a couple more seconds, (and I had became sureof the fact that Jeremiah was indeed looking right in my eyes), I first proceeded toonly give him one of my smiles that has been become famous for being sort of

calming (while also it has been said by a few people that those particular smilesdid seem sort of freaky when I put them on my face).Then after what seemed like it was a couple minutes more that had gone

by, I proceeded to go about the simple process of saying to Jeremiah Johnson,“Well, go on ahead J-Man, seeing how it is you are being such a big man, what inthe world are you waiting for? I mean come on, I know that I certainly would notbe wasting any more time by waiting around here (even if you really are justlooking the precise moment to go about this)! Anyways, so what I am saying isthat I think you should be the extremely big man here, and dig what ever it is thatyou need in order to get out of yourself to show us that you are also a really verybrave man by going over to the parking lot where those ladies apparently went, in

order to ask at least one of those two beautiful Walker ladies out onto a date(although, the truth is that even if one them accepts from you, in reality we allknow just who it is both of them actually want to be with on a date).”

Almost right as soon as I was finished saying all of this, it quickly becamepretty clear to me that Jeremiah Johnson had actually seemed to have heard atleast most of that which I had just got through saying to him (mainly I could tellthis by the expression that he suddenly had put onto his face). So right after acouple more moments had went on by, I quickly reached over to simply just givehim a gentle pat on his left shoulder before I looked off once more into thedirection that I knew that those ladies gone off towards.

So, after he waited a few more minutes (my guess was that he did this to

probably act like a nice guy towards me), the expression change that was onJeremiah’s face proceeded to show me that the fact was most likely thatJeremiah was now probably trying to see if I would finally get over myself, (infact, it had become pretty clear to me that Jeremiah Johnson probably seen thatby know I had also changed in the expression on my face, so finally Jeremiahturned his head around in such a way that for a few moments he ended uplooking away from all of us altogether).

Suddenly he turned his face back to where it had been, and I could seenow that it was actually a fact that Jeremiah Johnson had decided to gather some more courage so he could actually then say to me (and also I have to saythat hearing Jeremiah saying this to me even surprised me a little bit as wellwhich I showed with another expression that quickly came upon my face), “SamThompson, you can go on ahead, point towards yourself while puffing up thatchest of yours at the same time, and go ahead while you just keep on believingthat big old fantasy (of what are probably your wildest dreams until they finallybecome reality, that is if they ever do). Now until that time ever does come,please do not make fun of the rest of us for not acting like the fool that you arecertainly acting like at times."

Now as soon as few more minutes had passed on by (although to me,



these minutes sorted of seemed to have went by slowly ) after Jeremiah hadfinished saying this to me, I quickly came to the realization that he was actuallybeing sort of serious when he had said all of these things.

So, right as soon as I figured out all of the aspects of what was just said tome, I slowly turned that smile into a big frown, and then I simply just bowed my

head down in a very humble way (just as if I was now in a prayer). That waswhen Jeremiah gave a brief sigh and then he continued onward to say to me,"My brother Sam, I hope you can please be sure to know that I do feel very sorryif I hurt your feelings. It was just I was only saying the truth as I was seeing at thisparticular moment (even though you did kind of hurt me as well by what you hadpreviously said).”

It happened that it was at this precise point when I looked up in order toend up seeing that Jeremiah was still looking over my way, and then hecontinued on to say to me, “Although, there is one other thing that I definitelyhave tell you, Sam. That thing is that the other reason that I was saying all of thatto you, was because besides that great award-winning smile that you seem to

have that seems to me to be combined with your high school position as the highschool football captain (which may, or may not, last beyond this year), and all of that money that you seem to possess, (which I also I have to say it has beenmade clear to some of us that it may really belong to your parents), in truth I amsure that to a lot of us you do not really seem to have anything else of a realvalue that either one of the Walker sisters would find really attractive (unlessthere is something that you have kept from the rest of us which they just mightfind attractive)."

"Although, I do now feel that I have to also say that I really do hope thatNick Robinson does at some point end up realizing that I was only just using himas an example in the discussion that was going on at that moment, (and I was

not actually intending to bring him into the conversation itself). Oh yeah, pleasealso know that I have thought a little about it, and there is one more thing that Iwould like to say as well. Sam Thompson, you should really know that I will bebrave enough to ask Christina Walker out on a date whenever I actually feel likeit (so please, do me a great favor, and quit trying to push me along a route that Imight not be ready to go on)."

As soon as all of that had sunk into me, I rapidly came to the decision toquickly turn the rest of my body so once I was done, I found that I was nowcompletely facing towards Jeremiah Johnson. So after a couple seconds morehad gone by, I proceeded to raise up my left arm just enough so I could go aboutthe process of lightly jabbing Jeremiah in the middle of his right arm, and then assoon as I could tell for sure that Jeremiah was indeed listening to me once more,I said directly to him, “Hey there J-Man, I do have to say to you that while your extremely shy approach towards Christina Walker is definitely admirable, (yes Idid say that to you, J-Man), really you don't need to sound so upset at me. I wasonly just trying to help you out a bit by giving you what I saw as some slightinspiration, (oh yes, I feel that I have to add that one can also add a bit of humor to what I said).”

While I did have to pause for a moment right after saying all of those



things, and when it was still pretty clear to me that Jeremiah was still listening tome, I continued on to say towards him, “You certainly do have my apologies if you did not see it the way that I had intended for it to come out. Now to show youthat I really do just want to help everyone out here, you might as well know that Ido have my uncle John's cabin in the nearby Cascade Mountains (well it is for

this weekend), so you and everyone else that is here can go on ahead and headup to that mountain cabin so we can all spend this weekend together. In fact, if you really do feel like going there, please let me know and yes, I am going toplace a little dare upon some of you to try your best to go find Chris Walker tosee if she wants to go on up there with us!"

Right at the very moment that I had apparently finished talking to my oldschool friend, (and as he was looking directly in my eyes) Jeremiah Johnsonquickly changed the expression that was on his face to a more relaxed version of what was on there before. In fact, now the way he was looking at me with whatwas a clear look of absolute shock that seemed as if it was combined with aslight smile (which I feel was a lot better to get than Jeremiah's "serious" face

that he was just recently using while he was looking over at me), and then after not even a minute more had gone on by, he suddenly went on ahead in order toask this of me, “Sam Thompson, are really being serious here? I mean it, wouldyou really be that nice of a guy to be willing to share something that is like thatwith the rest of us?”

I quickly bent downwards in order to pick up my dark blue, (and I have toadmit that it did seem to me like it was, in a way, looking kind of old, and in a fewplaces on it, maybe even scratched up a little bit) backpack, and that was when Iquickly stood back up to end up looking right at Jeremiah Johnson (of which Ichose to say to him), "Well, it certainly sounds to me like at least you want to goon up to my uncle's cabin this weekend. However, first things first Jeremiah, my

suggestion it is you who happens to go on over to ask that certain lady out thereas well, and as far as what happens afterwards, well then we will just see."Right after I was finished saying all of that, I started to turn around towards

the Republic high school parking lot, and then suddenly I stopped right where Iwas at, only to quickly turn back around enough so I could face JeremiahJohnson in order to also say to his face, "Also Jeremiah, now that we haveestablished the fact that you would like to come up there, I feel like I should alsoreassure you all that my Uncle John’s cabin does happen to have a large double-decker barn (which is located right next to the cabin) with an upper level that justrecently my uncle had it converted into a separate bedroom (in fact, I think it iseven complete with its own washer and dryer with an out house that is also closeto the cabin, and almost directly behind the barn, that is if you need it all).”

When I had seen that I had managed to keep a hold of JeremiahJohnson’s attention, immediately afterwards I also managed to say to him,“Which also makes the number of rooms about four bedrooms if my count iscorrect, because the very cabin itself has three bedrooms inside it (well, if Iremember correctly one of them was actually turned into my Uncle John’s homeoffice), and if it is even needed, someone can also sleep on the couch in theliving room and/or one can even sleep on the couch in the cabin's recreation



room."As soon as I had quickly finished speaking, Jeremiah Johnson first just

gave a large smile right at me, which was then followed by him suddenly givinganother hearable sigh, then he followed all of those actions by standing up all theway so he could look me straight in the eye, in order to say to me, "Alright,

alright, my man. Your offer is a very good one (that I will accept), and just assoon as I see those Walker girls again, yes I will go ahead, and ask ChristinaWalker out on a date to join us in the Cascade Mountains. Although, I really feelthat I do have to say to you, Sam Thompson, that I am really kind of curious as to

just how you ended up coming about all that detailed information that youapparently have about this cabin in the Cascade Mountains."

After Jeremiah had finished speaking all of what he had to say, Iproceeded to smile one of my biggest smiles that I ever have given, and then Iquickly looked down for a brief moment, which was quickly followed by melooking right back up at Jeremiah's face in order so I knew I was saying to him,"J-Man, don't worry yourself about it. As far as how I know all of this detailed

information, well, it's really no huge deal, it is just that I just spent a bunch of weekends going with my folks over to visit my uncle John at the CascadeMountains, and every time while I was there at that cabin, I spent some "qualitytime" with just my uncle John (although even I have to admit, that the lastweekend that I was there, was mysteriously cut short when just before myparents and I left to come back to Republic, Uncle John suddenly got a phonecall that made him go from being all happy, and kind of noisy, to him very quicklybecoming rather serious, and very, very quiet). Also, it was noticeable that after he got off the phone, my Uncle John had quickly gone from constantly asking usif we wanted to stay there a little longer, to becoming suddenly in a real big hurryto get us to leave."

Just after I had finished saying to Jeremiah Johnson all of what I had tosay, right out of the blue I could see all three of these ladies: Stacy Walker,Christina Walker, and my beautiful girl Laura Daniels, walking once more straightover towards the very spot where Dwayne Robinson, Jeremiah Johnson and I,happened to currently be standing at.

As a matter of fact, I do believe that all three of them kept moving in thesame direction (while walking in such away that it did appear as if it was also allthree were walking just like the lady that was next her) until each one them was

just about only a few feet away from us guys (which was where they all justsimply stopped at once).

So, just when she could see that I was looking her way, Laura Danielsquickly walked right up to me so I could be greeted by her with a really big hug(although Jeremiah Johnson would later say to me that he could definitely seeLaura Daniels face when she was hugging me at that moment, and apparentlywhen she knew I was not able to see her face, Laura was rolling both of her eyesaround, maybe because she had felt my hand touch part of her that she didagree with me touching right then).

However whatever the reason for her doing this really was, I do know for afact that Laura has previously shown that she loves me dearly, (although I do



have to admit, that on these last few days she seems to have spent a lot moretime on studying her scripture instead spending some quality time with me), andthe truth was, my hand really did only slip (I was not planning at all on touchingher there).

Interlude 1

Jeremiah's Chat With Chris



Actually right after a little bit of time had gone on by, it was JeremiahJohnson who turned around to go walk straight over to the very spot whereChristina Walker was currently standing, and when he was finally face to facewith her, Jeremiah decided to quickly say to her (while also motioning towards

the Republic high school football field stairway at the very same time), "Hellothere Chris. Can I ask you a short question right over here? It just take a quickmoment because it will only be a really quick question, and you might not have toreally worry about your sister being able to see you (or her at least knowingwhere you are), as most likely you will not really be outside your sister’spresence during the entire time that we are even talking."

After she appeared to pause in order to think about her answer for a fewminutes, Christina Walker quickly proceeded to look up at Jeremiah Johnson,and that was when she said to Jeremiah, “Alright, alright, J-man! Let the two of us go sit on that football field stairway for a little bit, and once we are there, I willlisten to whatever it is that you have to say, (whatever it is that is so important for

you to say to me over there).” Once that had been said, Christina Walker sigheda long, deep sigh, and then Chris quickly leaned over to whisper something moreright into her sister’s right ear (which her sister quickly responded with a quicknod of her head).

Now, just a few seconds after Chris Walker had managed to finishwhispering into her sister's ear, Chris rapidly stood straight up. That was whenChris waited for only a few more moments right before she gave both of her skinny shoulders a quick shake, and then she turned around just enough to faceJeremiah. This was a act that was quickly proceeded by Chris Walker allowingherself to be slightly urged (by Jeremiah Johnson) over into the very samedirection that was right towards the high school stairway (which was the very

same one that leads down to the schools football field).In fact, Chris Walker even allowed Jeremiah to lead them both down the

stairway for just a little bit of distance, and my guess is that the main purpose for the two of them to go down this far apparently was so that the two of them couldat least attempt to go sit down on a spot that was out of the earshot from theother students that were really only just a little ways away from the stairway itself,(although, for the exact reason that this was done, at least Chris Walker did nothave any real idea, but probably Jeremiah most likely had it all planned out fromsome point).

Meanwhile, just about right as soon as Jeremiah Johnson and ChrisWalker had reached the very top of the stairs (and it could be seen that they both

looked as they were about to start to descend down that stairway), SamThompson came to the decision to get himself busy by inviting both of the other ladies onto that weekend trip into the Cascade Mountains. When both Jeremiahand Chris had descended only partially down those steps, both of them suddenlyhad to stop themselves just so they could simply could just sit down right on thesame step.

As soon as they were both sitting, Christina had to turn her head around tothe right side just so she could say to Jeremiah's face, “Now okay J-Man, so you



can do me a really big favor here, and make an attempt to straighten out some of this confusion that I currently am having simply by telling me right now, just whatin the world is it that was so important to you that I had to be brought over hereonto these cold steps (which yes, I did notice that it was also just out of earshotof those other students)?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Jeremiah Johnson just kept sittingthere for a few seconds in order to bow his head down, and right after a few moremoments had passed on by, apparently Jeremiah was barely able to lift up hishead just enough so he could turn his head around to the left so that he knewthat he was facing her, which is when Jeremiah realized that he was finally ableto make himself say to her, “Well Chris, the answer to your question is kind of simple. The fact is that you have been brought over here so you could know thatI have just been invited to go spend the next weekend with Sam Thompson up inthe Cascade Mountains at his uncle John Thompson's cabin. I just bet that upthere he is most likely also inviting your sister, Laura Daniels, Dwayne Robinson(if he is still there), and probably as soon as Sam comes in contact with him

again, Nick Robertson most likely as well will be invited."Once that had all came out of his mouth, Jeremiah looked away fromChris for a quick moment before he looked back over to her in order to keepsaying, "You know what, as soon as that invitation came my way, the reality wasthat I immediately started thinking about you, and as soon as he had finishedspeaking to me, I simply just was asking myself if you would like to come with usup to the Cascade Mountains.”

Right during the next few moments, Christina just sat looking over atJeremiah with a sudden clear look of shock on her face, then after a couple of minutes had passed on by, she just shook her head back and forth for a coupleof seconds which was followed by Chris Walker turning her whole body a little bit

more around (my guess was that it was just to be sure that she was facingJeremiah Johnson, and that was when she probably knew that not only did shehave his full attention, but Chris might even be able to make it so what she saidto him would make some sort of a impact on his next reaction).

Then just as soon as Chris Walker could, she proceeded to say toJeremiah, "Well, well, well J-Man! Now, this was the question that was, oh soimportant, that you had to bring me all the way over here for it? Just so youknow, that is not really a question to ask me. After all, you should know, that if mysister is going with me then, maybe then, I will go on that mountain trip with youboys (however, if Stacy does not want to go, then you can be sure that I will notgo)."

Right when Chris Walker saw how much what she just said hadapparently seemed to disturb Jeremiah Johnson, then Chris did decide to add towhat she had just said with this, "Although J-Man, don't make yourself feel toobad about what you did. After all, the main fact is that I do have this to say to you,thank you very much for that invitation anyways (it really was very muchappreciated that you would take the time to want come ask me along). Also,really there is a small part of me that is kind of wondering, what took you so longto come up to me, and be brave enough to ask me out on any type of date?”



Once Christina Walker had finally finished saying all of that which was onher mind, she stood straight up on that stone stairway, and that was whenJeremiah Johnson apparently felt that he had to humbly glance down for amoment towards those stone steps that his feet were resting on.

After only a few moments of simply doing that, Jeremiah proceeded to

stand straight up with Chris Walker on that same stairway (Chris had apparentlycame to the decision to stay still for a moment or two, and wait until it was veryclear that Jeremiah Johnson was standing right next her which probably showedChris that he was ready to go back to their group of teenage friends, or whoever was left up there while they had been down those stairs).

It was just a few more moments of only standing on that hard step whichhad passed on by them, when Chris Walker simply just lightly tugged atJeremiah's left sleeve on the forearm part of that sleeve, and that was when bothof those two turned around (and regaining whatever composure each one of them needed).

Then the two of them were walked back up the stairs to end up going

directly over to where Chris's sister (Stacy Walker), Laura Daniels, NickRobertson, surprisingly Dwayne Robinson as well, and Sam Thompson, were allstanding at that time, (and right as soon as they had both came within fulleyesight, at least two of those students quickly turned their heads enough to lookat both Chris and Jeremiah).

It was right at the moment when Christina Walker had finished walkingback over to the rest of those students, that it was Stacy Walker who quicklyturned around so she was directly facing her sister so after pausing for a fewmore seconds, then Stacy shook her head for a couple times she then said to her sister, "By the way Chris, Sam Thompson over here has just got done inviting therest of us to go spend some time with him at his uncle's cabin in the Cascade

Mountains this weekend, and after I spent a few minutes thinking kind of hardabout it, I have decided that I want to accept this rather generous invitation of histo go up to these mountains for just this weekend, (although I can't help it butwonder if you really want to go with us, after all even though I might want to go, if you don’t want to go, then we will not even considering to go at all)."

As soon after the moment had passed on by when her sister had finishedsaying all of this to her, a really big smile slowly appeared onto Christina Walker'sface, and that was when she quickly turned around to her right side to also lookbehind her a little so she could say to Jeremiah Johnson, "Well, well, well J-Man.It certainly appears to me that since my sister seems to want to go to this cabinthat is within the Cascades, you will most likely be blessed by me going with youon to this trip. So, I really do hope that this makes your day.”

Right at the precise moment that she had finished speaking to Jeremiah,Chris quickly turned herself back around in order to face towards the rest of those students that were standing there with her so she could say, "Also, just sothe rest of you guys can know, I can definitely say that yes, it really was JeremiahJohnson that actually had decided to be brave enough to invite me onto thisvacation into the Cascade Mountains (so, some of you guys might want to watchthe examples of those that you know, as then you might learn some things that





A Continuation of Chapter 1

Just at almost the very moment that Chris Walker had finally finished her quick talk to those teens, all of a sudden, the one that I see as my girlfriend wentabout flipping her flaming red hair over her right shoulder (which was quicklyfollowed by her moving the other side of me), and it was the type of movementsthat made me think that Laura Daniels actually might have been under the belief that she was really one of those super rich teenage models that can usually beseen on those shows that are on various television sets (even though as much

as I love the girl, I do have to admit that Laura Daniels is a bit far from being oneof those supermodels).Then a couple seconds later on (which was really after she had finally

finished all that she was doing), Laura Daniels looked directly over at me in order to say, "Sam Thompson, while I do have to admit that I am kind of surprised thatyou would invite us to your uncle John's place in the mountains, please know thatI have to say thank you very much for the invitation. So Sam, now that it is knownthat so many of us are going to this cabin, I am willing to guess that this meansthat I will probably be seeing you at some point tonight, so we can do someshopping for this weekend trip."

Right then, Laura paused for a slight moment so she could take a deep

breath, and then after a few more seconds went on by, she turned her headaround until she was looking me straight into my eyes (probably so Laura couldknow that she was saying this directly at me), "Also Sam, I do believe that wehave some other preparations that are most likely needed for this group vacation.The fact is that we will probably first be getting whatever groceries, and other grooming supplies that we could be needing up there, (also if there is any other requests for this weekend that any you guys here just might have, then please goahead to deliver them to me, or to Sam Thompson over here, although pleaserefrain from asking for things that neither of us would ever get for ourselves)."

Right at the moment that Laura Daniels had apparently finished sayingwhat was on her mind, every one of those ladies proceeded to turn around at thevery same time, and then they quickly followed this up by walking straight backtowards the Republic high school parking lot (in a way, to me at least, the speedthat they were all walking in seemed like it was at kind of a fast pace, almost likethey were all in a big hurry to leave that particular school).

A couple of moments directly after I was sure that all of those ladies hadfinally walked off to a point where they were all probably out of earshot of whatwas being said over here, I quickly turned around in order to face Jeremiah, andonce I was sure that I was looking directly into Jeremiah's eyes, then I decided to



proceed on to say to him, "So it would appear J-Man, that you really did goahead with what I was talking to you about just recently, and you proceeded todo that which previously before today it looked to me like you would never do.The truth is that you dug up the courage to actually reach in side of yourself tograb a hold of whatever was needed, in order to make it so you were actually

brave enough to actually invite Chris Walker out onto a date (even if it was onethat a bunch of us are sharing). Now I feel that I have to say to you J-Man, atleast in my eyes you have just taken one more bigger leap into what is truemanhood of any individual!"

Then after only a few more moments went on by, I had turned my head just enough (and apparently just in time) to see that Dwayne had suddenly turnedaround until he was standing just about exactly face to face with Jeremiah, andthen after just looking right at him for a quick moment, with a very confused lookon his face Dwayne quickly said to Jeremiah, "Okay J-Man, please do the rest of us a really big favor here, and please don’t hold yourself back on us either. Spillany beans that are needed in order to tell those of us that just heard what Sam

Thompson said, just what in the world is it that Sam is talking about to you."I ended up turning my head from looking at Dwayne so I could look over atJeremiah. As I spent a couple of seconds simply watching my good buddy, Inoticed it as Jeremiah Johnson looked down to the ground for a moment. After only a few more seconds had gone on by, he suddenly let out a huge sigh whichwas quickly followed by the J-Man immediately sitting down on those hard schoolgrounds that made up the walkway, and then as soon as Jeremiah had sat downall the way with his legs crossed all the way, he looked right up towards DwayneRobinson (and Nick Robertson), only to say to those two guys, “Okay, you guys.Now I am only telling you this just so you know what is going on here. The simplefact is that I was dared by Sam Thompson to go ask Christina Walker if she

wanted to go spend some time with us, and I only went to ask her this wasbecause I felt that it was finally time that I went to go talk to Chris. Although Sam,I do have to say that I would appreciate being able to stay that bedroom in thebarn that you were telling me about before, and I am very willing to share it withChris Walker, if she wants to (although, if Chris does get that room, and thendiscovers that it was the same bedroom as mine, she might just feel as thoughshe has been tricked into sharing with only me, so it would be appreciated if youcould include that fact when you first ask her)."

It was at that precise moment that Jeremiah Johnson looked away for afew more moments, and then as soon as he looked back Jeremiah continued onto say to me, "Also, I do feel that I have to say right at this very minute, (andplease, bare in mind that I am only to request this just in case the situation doesarise for me), I am going to have to make a slight request that some sort of sexprotection might be supplied to me for this weekend trip into the CascadeMountains, (although once again I do have to say that this really is just in caseanything does actually happen during this trip, which personally I do not thinkanything will happen at all, but you never know what can suddenly occur)."

At the very next moment, I was quickly watching as Jeremiah Johnsonlooked over to his right side, and as soon as I could see the expression that was



on his face, it proceeded to show me that he was probably very sure of whatever he was currently thinking about, and once his eyes came into direct contact withmy eyes, Jeremiah suddenly proceeded to quickly wink his right eye, which wassoon to be closely followed by Jeremiah repositioning his body so he was downon both of his knees which appeared to me like he was busy saying a prayer to

the Lord (probably it was to repent for any defiling thoughts that he might havehad in his mind).After a few moments, I had come to the decision to just sit down onto the

stone ledge in order to stare down at the ground (while I thought about hisrequests), and finally after a few more minutes had passed on by, I made another decision to directly look back up right at the J-Man, and as soon as I was looking,I saw that Jeremiah had moved from his knees right back into the same sittingstyle that he was in before he had appeared to pray, so I simply replied byquickly saying to him, "Hey there J-Man, I have got to say that it is in my opinion Ithink you actually must be a pretty clever, (and I have to say, kind of sly), man.So with that having been said, as far as your first request goes, hey sure, I don't

see a single problem with you getting that bedroom in that barn, and possiblysharing it with only Chris Walker (although, I have to ask that you other guysmight need to keep it a secret as far as whatever ends up happening in there).Hey, even those like Jeremiah needs to have some secrets."

I bowed my head for only just a moment, and then I continued on bysaying to him, "Also J-Man, as far as your other request goes, well, perhaps I will

just pick up a little more protection than I usually do later on when I go spendsome quality time with my girl (although I have to admit there is a slight questionif she allows me to pick up any, after all she will be with me, and truthfully, I dohave to agree with her on the fact that acts of lust do not really show anythingmore then physical attraction, and I do wish I knew for sure that she really does

love every part of me, which by saying that I do have to include my personality aswell)."Directly after the next few moments of complete silence had passed by, I

suddenly jumped up on to my feet to end up just stretching myself out for just alittle bit, (and the method that I proceeded to do this was mainly by only leaningthe top half of my body backwards for really only a few moments). Then after what seemed like only a few more seconds had gone on by, this particular backward stretch was soon to be followed by me deciding to go sit right backdown onto that same hard stone ledge that I was sitting on earlier (even thoughsitting on that ledge seemed to make it so my backside felt as if it was starting togo numb).

Actually right when I was seated onto that ledge, I quickly turned my headback and forth for a couple of times (which was really just so I could take quickpeek around me), which was soon to be followed by me proceeding to quietly sayto the rest of the other guys that was there, "Now that we know pretty much for sure just who it is that is actually going to be on this little trip, I do now know that Ikind of feel that I can certainly give some reassurance to all of you guys bysaying that I will do whatever I can to make it so for the most part everyone thatis going does not need to worry at all about anything that might go wrong on this



mountainside trip (although what that might be, I am not really sure)."Right when that had been said, I quickly decided to pause for a moment in

order to look over to the stairway right before I took a really large breath, andthen I looked back over to continue to say to those guys, "Now that all of thatother stuff has been said, I would like it if all of you would please know of the fact

that the true reason that I am mainly saying all of this right now is because I havebeen up there so many times that for the most part I would know what is upthere, so please don't waste your time doubting and worrying about anything, (inmy opinion, I don’t really think it would not do anyone any good at all to have anytype of doubt and worry, for that is really the way of the devil).

As a matter of a fact, I am pretty sure that every day that passes by on thisweekend will most likely just go as smoothly as ice feels (although I hope just notas cold as ice), and as easily as a breath will blow out into the wind. If fact, evenif there is something that does end up happening to any of us, then you all canbe sure that it will probably be something that is slight and probably easily fixablefor those of us that are up there."

Right after I was finished saying all of that to the teenagers that were stillthere, everyone of us were soon standing straight up so we could turn around towhat was the very same area of the high school, (and my guess was that thiswas also done by so many of us, so we all could finally leave these schoolgrounds for this day, which hopefully would be so that each one of us could gomake preparations for this weekend trip into the Cascade Mountains).

Chapter 3

Preparation PhaseFriday, October 12, 1993



As soon as I came home, I walked into an empty house (that reallyneeded some new paint, some new window panes, and at least the lawn mowedwith the weeds removed the yard), I noticed that there was a badly scrawled noteon the edge of the kitchen counter. Just a few moments went by, and that waswhen I casually dropped my stuff on the badly stained carpet before walking over to go read the note (as best as I could). I ended up balling up the note and then I

tossed it aside while slightly rolling my eyes as well.It was later on during that same day (actually, as far as the time goes it

was really after the sun had set, so I guess one could technically say it was nighteven though there was still at lot of light remaining) that I was simply just drivingalong in my car (that in my mind, was almost just as great as my lady) in achange of clothes, and I was blessed with the magnificent Laura Daniels sittingright beside so we could be together while all other preparations for this trip weremade. I do have to admit one thing that was definite; it did seem slightly hard for me to able to concentrate on that narrow main road in Republic, with her beautiful body sitting in the seat that was right beside me.

Although at the very same time, I did happen to take notice of the fact that

for a town that I had grown up in (and I can say that I thought I knew it so well),this night seemed to have a strange lack of light to it (with the exception of thecar head lights, and the light that appeared to be coming from any stores that wepassed by).

For the most part, it just seemed to me that there was not a lot of lightcoming from the old street lights that we went by (maybe it just seemed kind of dark to me while I was looking out the windows of my car, and there did notappear to be the same amount of traffic that could be usually seen around thistime of the day).

Also, another thing that seemed kind of odd was that it sort of appeared tome like there was a lot of people that were just wandering around outside as if

there either lost, and/or drunk, (even though, the digital clock on the dashboardof my car did clearly say that it was almost 7:30 at night, and it was easy to seethat the bright, beautiful sun had already set behind the mountains).

Well, for some of the days, sometimes it does seem to stay kind of brightinside of this town (and this true, no matter what time it is during that day). After all, this town does have a bunch of old style street lights that, when those lightsare all actually working, at times tend to emit what appears to seem to some likevery bright lights, (at least to me, those particular lights do seem to be kind of



bright enough to almost be blinding to some, actually to me they almost look likesearch lights, or strobe lights).

Although, I am certainly willing to guess that for quite a few of thosepeople that are living within the city of Republic, in these parts it probably evenseems to be almost bright enough so that whoever might be trying to find

something in those city limits will end up not really having any type of problembeing able to see whatever it they are looking for (even though I do not think it isthis bright for every part of the city, but hey I could be wrong).

However, right at this moment it does appear to me like this is not onethose really bright days where it seems that anything can found (even though, Ihave to admit the roads in this city are kind of busy for this time of the night). Ionly said that last part, because to me it seems rather gloomy (to the point of almost blinding in itself), and from what I have seen I have no real idea just howanyone who is looking around will be able to locate a certain place, somebodyelse, or even something in particular, (at least, it is most likely hard for thosepeople that are new to this city).

Now, I can certainly say that I am not really anyone who is new to this city,so to me finding the very best grocery store in Republic was (in reality) not veryhard for me to do (by the way, in this city it is Safeway). So as soon as I found itslocation, I soon saw that the Safeway had a parking lot that was soon to beblessed by my black and red Mazda (which it has to be admitted that I might notof had this car in my possession, where it not for my Uncle John Thompsoninsisting getting for my birthday).

Also, I just thought that I should probably note that it is really just acoincidence that anyone who was currently either walking from (or going to) thatSafeway store, most likely noticed my car was (I have to admit, sort of loudly)pulling into the store’s parking lot, and whoever it was, might even be able to say

that whoever was driving appeared to be a determined individual who probablywanted the closest parking space that was available to them.At that same time, I can say that if anyone who was still paying attention

was also listening to what was coming from the car, they would probably hear something that sounded like old style rock music that was being played insidethat Mazda (I have to admit, I kind of proud of it, and I was surprised when myuncle brought it to me even though I told I my parents that I would choose dentalsurgery over getting a car which was the choice that was presented to me to bethe gift from my parents for my 17th birthday).

Now, right as soon as I finally saw the parking space that I wanted in thatlot, I quickly swerved around so I was able to park my Mazda in that spot withouthitting anything else, or damaging my car. In fact, this happened to be a parkingspot that was very close to what was the front "glass" doors of the Safeway store(actually, if anyone wanted to, one could even see that it was just close enoughto the store itself, so both Laura Daniels, and I, only had to walk just a few feetfrom the car in order to get inside the grocery store itself).

As soon as I could get the door open wide enough, I quickly got out of thecar to go enter into the Safeway, and immediately just as soon as I hadcompletely walked through the store’s glass doors, I suddenly felt that I had to



pause to appear to be holding the door (in order to at least look to my girl like Iwas holding it open just for Laura). Even though this action might seem to somepeople to be a crazy thing for someone like me to be doing, I still really wanted todo everything that I could think of at that particular moment to be romantic (atleast, as far as being as much a gentleman towards my girlfriend as I could be,

was concerned).Right when I knew that Laura Daniels had finally completely entered intothe store, that was when I quickly decided that I had to move in a kind of suddenfashion right over from where I was currently standing at over to what was theother side of the store door, even if it was just to show her that I was still trying tobe the loving gentlemen one more time. So, I proceeded to go grab the very firstshopping cart that I could see standing around there, (so Laura did not have togo get it herself).

So, after a few more quick moments had passed on by us when we hadboth entered, I decided to rush over to end up taking a hold of the very firstshopping cart that I could see at that very moment that I got to them. Right after I

finally had one of the carts in the grip of my hands, I proceeded to move onforward with it until I had finally moved that cart right over to where the two of ushad been standing at when we came into the store.

Once I saw that the cart had been brought over to a spot that was only afew feet away from were my girl was standing at, I had to stop for a momentwhile Laura took a few seconds to proceed to walk directly over to where I wasstanding at. Once Laura had come to that particular side of the shopping cart,she immediately decided that she should probably go right ahead to (in a waythat to me seemed sort of hard) drop her brand new pink leather purse rightdown into what certainly looked like the basket like section (well, the usual onethat can be found within the front part of most of the grocery carts these days).

It was just a few more seconds (that was after Laura had made sure justthe precise spot of where her purse was located at inside of the shopping cart),when Laura quickly stood straight back up, and then a it was only few moremoments after that was done when Laura turned around to end up standingdirectly face to face with me, (and to me at least, Laura seemed to have a distinctexpression of curiosity on her face while her green eyes appeared as if they werepeering almost directly into my sky blue eyes).

So right after the next few moments of eye contact (only), Laura Danielssuddenly decided to go ahead and ask me this question, “So my dear dear Sam,please be the sweetheart that I know that you can be, and please tell me whatyou can as far as just what it is that you really have in mind in order to preparefor this trip into the Cascade Mountains? I was also slightly wondering, by anychance, have you received any 'special' requests from any of the other teens thatare coming with us this weekend?"

Then right as soon as Laura Daniels had gone ahead and asked me thoserather simple questions, she proceeded to re-posture herself so that Lauraseemed to appear like she was looking straight into my mind through my deepblue eyes. As she was doing this, I quickly responded to her question by first justgiving her a really big smile (one that was just as big as the smile I had given one



of my friends earlier this day), and then I quickly reached over to lead Laura inthe direction that seemed to be the very same lane that was the Produce/Dairysection of that Safeway store.

What ended up happening to both of us, was that Laura Daniels decidedto played along with me by allowing me to pull her forward for only a little bit of

time. Then after we had been walking for a really little while, Laura suddenlymanaged to stop us both in our track where we currently were located, (whichwas actually right before we got to what looked like the Produce/Dairy section of that store).

Right as soon as it was clear that we had both completely stopped in our movement forward, I quickly turned my upper body around fast enough so I couldeasily see that she happened to be looking directly into my deep blue eyes(which I found out she was doing just in time for her to be able say to me), “Sam,my dear, first please know that I am really wishing that I did not have to say this,however please do me a really big favor to taking a slight moment to remember the simple fact that right now, it is actually only just the two of us who are here

shopping at this store in what is our lovely hometown, and actually the last time Ihad thought about it, I seemed to remember that we were only here to buy justthe supplies that were absolutely needed for the trip this weekend, (and I believemost of those supplies mainly were for in the kitchen, and for the bathrooms thatare located inside of your uncle’s cabin)."

As soon as Laura had looked as though she was finished saying all of this,the two of us just stopped talking to each other for a few more minutes, and thenapparently Laura Daniels felt that she suddenly had to add to what she had justpreviously said to me by also saying, "Please hold on for a few more secondsthere Sam, as I was not quite finished with what I was saying to you before. Now,I do know that one could only really buy frozen food, many kinds of different

liquids, possibly some dry groceries, and perhaps even some of the personalhygiene supplies that are needed, inside of this Safeway."During the next few moments, Laura Daniels paused in what she was

saying in order to give off yet another big sigh, and that was when she continuedon by saying to me, "However right now Sam Thompson, you should know that Istill do feel that it is needed by me to say to you that if there happens to beanything else besides any of the groceries that could be found here, you willhave to go get it at yet another time (and most likely without me to be there byyour side)."

Once more Laura Daniels suddenly paused in all of what she was sayingto me, in order to glance down at the odd (and somewhat sort of bland) yellowcolored hard tile that made up the floor of this Safeway (and I have to say thatthis stores certainly did have big tiles making the floor), and then after a few moreminutes had gone on by, Laura finally added on to what she had just been sayingto me with these words, "Oh yeah Sam, I also better say this to you before Iforget to say it at all. I do feel that while I do love you, as far as all of that pre-marital pleasure that we recently have been having with each other, well, I willadmit to the fact that for me it has been kind of fun (in a rather un-decentfashion), and certainly when I am feeling sort of stressed out, I have to also admit



that it does sort of make me relax a whole lot faster when we can (but hey,perhaps it is better that we establish a true relationship between the two of us,and by that I mean maybe one of a true relationship that is based mainly on usloving one another equally)."

Laura Daniels soon stopped herself one more time to give off yet another

quick sigh, and then she finished her speech by also saying to me, "However Sam Thompson, please do realize that while I love you so much, I have realizedthat in order for me to truly receive my real comfort in this life, you and I shouldprobably completely repent about our past actions, and then just stick to seeingeach other with only some hugs and kissing each other on the mouths of eachfrom time to time, (after all, I have been slightly wondering if all of thosepleasures that you and I have been having in bed, is really what God wants of usto be doing in the first place). So please, please Sam, let us both do our best totry to avoid that temptation (for this weekend at least). Plus, I want to make surethat the person who I just be married to, is really with me because they truly loveme as the person that I truly am, and they are not just married to me only

because part of my body.”I have to admit that at first, I could only just look over at Laura Daniels for a couple of moments longer (with what is a slight expression of utter shock on myface), and then I was able to quickly change that expression into one thathopefully showed the pure happiness that I was feeling, (as a matter of a fact thisone also included what could be an awarding winning smile as well). However,this expression change was soon to be followed by me saying directly to her,“Alright alright, my dear Laura, whatever it is that makes you happy. Although,personally I do have to admit to the fact that I am really just a little surprised atwhat you just said to me. However, once again I will simply just say that if that iswhat you really want us to do for now on, then I guess temptations that are full of

lust will actually be something that probably we will both really have to do our best to try to avoid (no matter how much we end up feeling when we are close toone another)."

After I had finally completed saying that, I actually had to pause myself for another minute while Laura Daniels was standing next to me giving off yetanother big sigh (as a matter of fact, all those sighs that were coming from her were starting to get kind of annoying), and then I proceeded to add to what I hadpreviously been saying to her with these statements, "Although, I do have to saythat whenever that time comes up that you have changed your mind, and youhave finally decided that you really want to just go have some more “fun in thesack”, please just go ahead and let me know so I can find a place to be.”

Almost just as soon as I was finished saying that to her, Laura Danielslooked once more directly up into my blue eyes, and then after a few minutes of silence went on by, her whole entire face seemed to suddenly be filled with greatbrightness as her skin was flushed with new color, (actually, even her eyesappeared to brighten up a bit more).

It was also true that I could see the fact that her whole entire facesuddenly had gone from having such a serious expression to now being one witha very beautiful smile on it as if Laura was out having fun (the reason for smile to



be so beautiful was that only just a couple years ago, Laura Daniels had somedental surgery performed in such a way so now every time when she smiles atanyone, the same person who was viewing it could almost say it like one thatwas one of those smiles that was marvelous in appearance, and perhaps it mighteven be award winning as well).

Now I feel that it has to be said by me, that the reality is that it was thatmarvelous smile that belonged to Laura Daniels that was one of the very firstthings that actually “won” my heart at the first time that I saw her. So betweenthat smile, and the fact that I knew that I really loved her, it only a took a fewseconds before it was realized that I did not see a problem when Laura Danielssuddenly reaching over with her right hand in order to grab a hold of my head asshe leaned up to kiss my left cheek (which she did this without any type of prior sign that this was what she intended to do).

Suddenly I could feel that she was doing her best to pull kind of hard onmy left hand, as we joined each other while we were heading off to another section of the grocery store. Well, it turned out that the two of us were able to

quickly finished our shopping trip there, so I dropped her off at her house, andthen I turned around to go up to the cabin to drop off those supplies that we hadpurchased (after I finished doing that, I simply just went back home for the rest of the night).

Chapter 4



Pick-Up TimeSaturday, October 13th, 1993

Now, just as soon as that very next day came to be, once again my Mazdacould be seen driving on up to yet another parking spot (that at this day, happensto be directly in front of what appeared to be an old rambler style house whichhad been painted a dirty white color (actually it might be just painted white withsome dirt blown onto it a little bit later).

Also, it appeared like it had a brown colored gutter sticking out from a roof

that had black colored shingles that might have also had a bunch of leaves andsome dirt blown on top of it at some point (actually, to me it looked like as far as

just the house goes, only the gutter could be said as the most presentable thing,but even that looked like it had a weed growing from one of the far corners of it).

This house seemed to me to look like it had a rather decent sized frontyard (even thought there was what looked like a halfway dead oak tree that wasgrowing out of the right corner of the yard, and it was pretty clear that the frontyard needed to be mowed a little bit with the possibility of some weed and feed togo with it), and after a couple minutes of waiting had passed by, anyone couldsuddenly hear what sounded like a obnoxious horn blast coming from my car (inreality I would say that anyone that was actually listening, it probably almost

sounded like I had honked the horn twice).Just about two minutes later on after I had honked the horn, the wooden

front door to the house suddenly opened up really wide (and I have to say that itseemed kind of hard, as well). Then after only a few more seconds had gone by;Dwayne Robinson could suddenly be seen exiting from the inside of this house(and from what I saw, Dwayne was almost stomping his over to the car).

At that moment that he could fully be seen, I could tell that Dwayne wascurrently wearing his old jean jacket (which he seems to insist on wearing mostof the time, I have heard that sometimes he even wears during his classes), hewas also wearing some sort of rag on his head, this rag was also containing theAmerican flag on it, (and at least to me, it looked sort of like it had been

crookedly placed on his head, as if he was in a rush when he got ready to leave,although for the most part, it appeared to cover the majority of the head).

As well as all of that, it did sort of look to me like Dwayne was wearingsome kind of a double colored t-shirt, (or maybe it was a long sleeved doublecolored shirt just with the sleeves rolled up), and it also seemed to me that hewas wearing some well-faded blue jeans (with what looked to be a kind of largehole in the knee of the right leg of those jeans), and even though it was hard tosay for sure, it also looked to me like he might have had what was a black



athletic wristwatch on his left wrist (my guess was that, Dwayne was probablywearing that wristwatch just so he could attempt to look as cool as he could, wellat least at that particular moment).

As far as another thing about his appearance was the fact, that it seemedto me that Dwayne Robinson was also wearing his well-used, dirty white colored

sneakers, that seemed to look like they had new black laces on both of them,and Dwayne was coming to my Mazda with a big, black duffel bag in his righthand (which also looked to me just like it was one of those bags that was used tothe point that it was so worn out that it probably it had been so heavily used like itwas those sneakers that he wears all the time). Well I can definitely also say, thatduffel bag also looked to me like it was Dwayne’s only luggage that he had withhim at that very moment (which is why I quickly moved my hand away from thebutton that would have popped the trunk).

After Dwayne had gotten to a point where he was a only few feet awayfrom the Mazda, his mother (whose appearance alone said that she was drunk)suddenly opened up one of the front windows in order to yell outside just to make

sure that Dwayne had not forgotten anything that he needed to take with him(also, even from where I was at, it was clear that she had not yet either brushedher hair, or even got dressed, combined with the fact that she was at the windowwith a bottle in one of her hands). As soon as she asked that question, Dwaynestopped right where he was at, and he quickly turned around in order to face her.Once Dwayne had finished sarcastically (and kind of loudly, or at least it seemedthat way to me) answering her question, his mother suddenly backed up sort of fast from the window, and then she just slammed it shut (which was hard enoughso it was clear that some the glass rattled in the windows frame). Once Dwaynesaw that his mother had truly went away, he turned back around to complete his

journey walking over to the Mazda that actually belonged to me (although in the

way Dwayne was walking towards this car, one might think he was going to goenter into something that Dwayne owned).Just when he had moved right up to a point where he was standing right

next to the car itself, Dwayne quickly reached over to open up the passenger side door of my car, so he could proceed to toss his bag into the backseat (andalso it landed right onto the lap of Jeremiah Johnson, who had to squint rightwhen the bag landed, my guess to that was maybe it hit a sore spot on his legs).Then Dwayne rapidly sat down onto the passenger seat of the car so he couldquickly he close the passenger door (when he did this, it sounded to me like healmost had slammed the door), and at the next moment he turned his headaround in order to greet Nick Robertson, Jeremiah Johnson, and me.

Right as soon as Dwayne Robinson had finished greeting everyone elsethat was sitting there in the car, I suddenly looked right towards his face and for areason that I am not sure of, I ended up sarcastically saying this directly toDwayne's face, "Well, hello there Dwayne. You should probably know that I dohope that you did not end up forgetting anything now."

Right as soon as I was done saying all of that, I saw that he was looking atme with an eyebrow raised (and a frown on his face), so I proceeded to say toDwayne, "However buddy, now I feel that I must say to you that on that last



comment, I was not being very serious, so I am sorry if anything I said offendedyou. Now, I will say to you, (and I am saying this on a serious note), please knowthat I am also really sorry that we were kind of late to come pick you up. I just feltthat I should spend some extra time talking to my girl Laura (and the two of usgot into a some what big discussion), which was just before I went about the

process of picking up both Nick Robertson from his house, and picking up the J-Man here from his house as well. So, just in case you are feeling slightly curiousas to just why l had to talk to her, it is because I was busy finding out that Laurais picking up the other girls inside of her car, (which is why I am picking up all of the guys in my car). The two of us decided that after both Laura and I werefinished, we were all going to meet together in the parking lot of the Shell gasstation that is just outside of Republic, WA. After all that is done, then I am goingto lead us all on from there so we can all arrive at my uncle's cabin at about thesame time."

Just as soon as the moment had occurred when I had finally finishedsaying all of that to him, Dwayne at first just suddenly smiled to me, then he

buckled the seat belt that was on the passenger side, and then he after he wasdone doing this, he quickly turned his head back over to say to me, “Hey, myman Sam, you don’t need to worry yourself about being too late in coming andgetting me. After all the reality is, that it really just gave me some more time tomake sure that I was completely prepared for this weekend trip. I can also saythat when the time was going by, I came to realize that sometimes when aperson says they will show up at a certain time, well, the arrival time could beright at that time which was said by that person, or that person could be reallyearly (or, like in this particular case, kind of late as well).”

As soon as Dwayne was done saying all of that, a few minutes more wentby, and then I finally just gave Dwayne a big sigh, which was soon to be followed

by me reaching over to start up my Mazda so we could get going, (also this wascombined with me looking straight forward through the windshield of the car atalmost the very same time).

Then after I knew that the car was warmed up correctly, I drove forward alittle bit only to end up making a sharp U-turn so I could drive a few blocks backfrom the direction from where I had earlier came from. Once I felt that the correcttime had come, I decided to make another sharp left turn that was soon to befollowed by me turning the Mazda into the parking lot of Shell station (although,while I was making that turn, I did slow myself down just in case anybody elsewas coming out of that lot).

Almost as soon as we had pulled into the parking lot, Dwayne Robinsondecided to suddenly turn around so he was staring directly at the driver, whichwas soon to be followed by him saying, "By the way Sam, just so you will knowthat I do feel that I have to apologize for anything offensive that I said to youbefore now. I was not actually trying to get you upset, and also Sam, I realize thatit is true that some might be able to guess that in certain cases, speaking of whatmay, (or sometimes may not), be the truth can not only really hurt the person thatit is said to, but also the reactions can seriously injure the very person who isspeaking those words."



Suddenly, I made a really quick decision to stop in such a sudden way thatI had slammed one of me feet down to the floor pedals (in a matter that actuallymay have been too hard for the Mazda's brake pedal). Right a few more secondsafter that had happened, I decided to turn my entire upper torso around to myright side, so in such a way so I was directly facing Dwayne Robinson (when I did

that I saw that at that very moment Dwayne was actually looking towards me withwhat appeared to be a look of sudden shock on his face, so perhaps he was notexpecting me to respond in such a way).

As soon as I knew (from the way that we were staring at each other almost directly into the other persons eyes) I was facing Dwayne Robinson in away that I had his full attention, I spoke up in order to say right to him, "HeyDwayne my man, don't waste time worrying yourself about any of it. Besides, I doremember making a quick promise to you (after school yesterday) that I wouldarrive to pick you up at a time that was early in the next day, and actually it reallywas my fault as I made the decision to contact Laura Daniels, so in reality I wasthe one that had caused myself to run a bit later then I had intended (as these

two other guys inside of this car could probably tell you as well)."Now, for any of those that people (that for some reason) were payingattention to the contents of that parking lot, those individuals could suddenly seethat in the lot itself (for that time of the day) there was really only one car that wasin the parking lot itself. Anyone who could see this car, could probably tell thatthis dark red car was actually a beat-up Ford Plymouth that was parked at thevery far end of that Shell parking lot.

Although I do have to say that in some ways it was clear that this Fordwas most likely owned by a teenager (and I have to say that even if I did notrecognize it, my very first guess would probably be that the owner of that vehiclemight of been a girl). It is kind of true to say that despite how old this vehicle was,

it still might be kind of hard for some people to tell just who was in the vehicleitself. Mainly because the inside of that Ford car appeared (at least from theoutside of the windows) to be filled almost completely with what looked like agreenish-grey colored cloud (that looked to me, sort of like it might have evenbeen a smoke cloud).

Even what sounded like the stereo that was within that car was playingsome kind of music that was extremely loud (almost to the point where it seemedlike a couple of car window panes were just about vibrating in the frames). Tome, it also did look a little bit like one of those occupants, (that to me, actually didlook a lot like Laura Daniels, although it was kind of hard to tell for an exact fact),was very clearly lying out flat on their back on top of the car's hood in jean shortsthat looked like they were very short and tight (and she also appeared to me tobe wearing a red bikini top). My first guess (from how short and tight thoseclothes looked to me), was this lady was probably just out on there to get herself a bit of a tan (seeing how this was a extremely clear day with a very bright sunshining down on the earth), and the second guess that I had to tell me that thelady was trying to get a tan, was that lady was also clearly lying out there withwhat looked like a really big pair of some dark sunglasses on her face (which atthis moment, appeared to already be somewhat as tanned as the rest of the skin



that was showing).Right after I had pulled over on the pavement to where I was parked

safely, quickly I reached over to turn off the Mazda's engine (while also hushingeverybody else that was inside the car). When the Mazda had finally shut downcompletely, quickly I swiveled my head around to look back and forth at the other

guys that were there, and as I was looking around, I suddenly brought just myright index finger straight up to my lips to once more insist that the noise levelwent down (which apparently worked because after I had made that particular action, all of the noise that was still within my Mazda suddenly went from kind of loud to now barely hearable).

So after all of that, I made myself wait just a few seconds more, then Itried to be as quiet as I could by slowly opening up the driver side door to slowlyget out, and then right when I knew that I was out of the car, I decided to creepvery slowly up to the hood of Laura Daniels car (and yes, by now I was fairly surethat it was her car). As a matter of a fact, I was able to sneak all the way up tothe right side of the hood just so I was standing almost right next to her, and then

I suddenly said out loud, “In all honesty, I have never, ever really seen such amore beautiful sight in my life then what is lying here on top of this very car rightbefore my eyes!”

Right at the very same moment that I had said this, Laura Daniels quicklysat straight upwards, and then she immediately reached over to the right side of the Ford where she was able to quickly grab a hold of her red t-shirt (apparently,it was lying over there on top of her car hood, and also it was almost directly onthe right side of her). Then once she had finished pulling it on, Laura quicklyturned around to look directly over at me to say, “SAM THOMPSON! Now whatyou just did a moment ago shows me that you are probably a very naughty boyindeed. Just what on earth could you have possibly thought you were doing,

sneaking up like that on me? Although, I will have to admit that when you reallywant to be, you can be almost as quiet as a mouse. As a matter of fact, I was noteven able to hear that beautiful car of yours pulling its way into this Shell parkinglot (although, with how loud those ladies are playing that music from my car, I amnot really surprised either).”

All I could do at that point was first to just smile down at my girl, then after a few more moments, I leaned my whole upper body far backwards for a fewmoments, and after I had straighten myself, I put my best look of mock surpriseon my face, only to wait a couple more seconds before I brought both of myhands straight up to my chest while I said to Laura, "Who, me being a naughtyboy? I was just commenting on the very lovely sight that was laid out on thishood before me. Although, please know that I do apologize if what I saidoffended you, and your religion."

Laura Daniels suddenly rolled her eyes while sighing rather loudly, andthen as soon as she quickly finished straightening her large t-shirt, she lookedbehind her to gaze into her car (well, as much as she could look anyways,concerning the fact was that by now, her car was smoked up almost completely).Afterwards, Laura turned her head back around to look me directly in the eyes inorder to say, “Oh yeah Sam, just for your information, I did pick up both of the



Walker sisters, who happen to be the ones that are in my car right now, and toadd to that, they are for some reason sharing between each other an illegal budthat one of them had in somewhere (of course, this also means that they are bothprobably stoned out of their minds right now). Also, I do have to say that Icompletely refuse to be in that car right now until at least that awful smell (that is

within the inside of it) is completely gone from this car.”First, I looked rather curiously at her for a little bit, then I backed up a fewmore steps then where I was standing at, and after I had completely considered itfor a few moments, then I decided to say to her, “Alright my lady, your slight hinttowards me has been taken, and then you can be sure that I will deal with it. I willtalk to them, and I will do my best to get them to stop smoking (I especially don’twant anyone smoking at the cabin). That being the case (seeing how a bit of timehas most likely gone on by), so I bet at least some of the smell that is inside your car is probably really bad at this very moment, (or at least to me it appears reallyhard to see in there). With that being the recent situation, my idea to you is thatwe will just temporarily switch our cars until we have both managed to arrive at

my uncle’s cabin at the Cascade Mountains, (although you still might have to letme lead, seeing how the fact is that I know that you have not been there before).Now after I had said all of that other stuff, you should also know that I do happento know the little fact that you can drive an automatic shift just as well as a stickshift (on just about any car you get into) so I do know that you can easily handlemy Mazda (but I must ask you to please make sure to not damage my car).”

Laura Daniels suddenly just stared at me for a few seconds (with a look of some curiosity on her face), and then a few seconds after that, Laura quicklywent about saying to me, “Well Sam, yes, I know how to drive that car of yours,and I have to admit that it was a great decision by you (even though I do realizethat it was sort of rude to not actually ask you if I could in the first place, so I am

sorry about that). Also, I have to say to you, thank you very much for letting me,and I feel that my question to you right now is, since what has really happenedthat made this world become so different all of the sudden that you suddenlystarted to try your best to become such a gentleman from all the time being sucha rude individual that apparently likes to sneak right up on people that he saysthat he cares about quite a lot?”

So when a few more moments had passed on by, I looked straight up intothe sky, took a really big breath, and then I looked back down to say to her directly, "Look Laura, once again I must apologize to you for sneaking up like thaton you (yes, I do know that it was really rude of me, and I should not of did it inthe first place, but hey, it still was a magnificent sight). I guess I just wronglyassumed that you would find it as funny as I would, and so then I followed it bytrying out my best to help out those who I really do love dearly." Right as soon asI had finished saying this, Laura suddenly turned her whole body around until shehad stopped right where he was standing at so Laura could reach up with both of her arms in order to give him a really big hug, and then she followed this hug bylightly kissing him on the skin of the right cheek, (which also soon to be quicklyfollowed by her giving a kind of noticeable wink of her left eye, at least it wasfairly noticeable to him).



A couple of minutes after each of us stared into the other persons eyes,Laura Daniels proceeded to suddenly almost leap off of her car’s hood, and thenonce both of her feet were on the ground, Laura turned herself around (with the

just the correct momentum to flip her hair at the very same time) to suddenlywalk off straight over to where my Mazda was parked at. After I could see that

was definitely the direction where Laura was headed off to, I found that I wasable to turn myself around so I start opening up as many of the car doors as Icould, (which my reason for this was so I could go about the process of trying toair out that Ford, that apparently now I was going to be the one driving it up to thecabin).

After I knew that I had finally aired out most of the inside of Laura Danielscar (at least enough of it was aired out so I could breath as I was driving the car),I decided to go on about the process of getting into the Ford so I could start it tothe point that it would warm its engine up (I found that this took only a couple of tries). As soon as a few more minutes had passed on by, I figured that anyonewho was watching probably saw that both of the cars that were in this lot were

slowly pulling out of their individual parking spots, and soon both of them couldbe seen driving out of that Shell parking lot altogether, (with the Ford being thecar that was in the lead).

I bet any of those who were watching probably saw that both of those carswere heading off directly into roads that contained some busy traffic, (although,how many other people really knew that it was in order to make their individualways to the same place that resided in the mountains nearby, I honestly can saythat I do not know).

Chapter 5

The Cabin VacationSaturday Night, October 13th, 1993



Just a little bit later, both of our vehicles had managed to finally arrivewithin the very first sight of my uncle John Thompson's cabin ( at least it was thefirst view for most of the others, while in my case I say that I definitely had seenthis before today), once the cabin had come into full view, suddenly both of thecars ended up stopping for a few brief moments, my guess is this was so all of the others that were inside of the cars could gaze in wide wonder at this sight

that was before them (which was only a two story house with another onebuilding that was just slightly smaller sitting right next to it, and the house had alawn with grass that clearly needed to be mowed kind of badly, and in fact, itcould be seen that most of it was covered with brownish-yellow pine needles).

Then, both of the cars slowly proceeded on forward up the crushed rockdriveway (my guess is that this was done so those that were within both of thecars knew that they could slowly drive the rest of the way up to the mountaincabin itself without any problems happening to the vehicles, because while thecrushed rock could still be seen, it was also clear, even to me, that even thedriveway needed some weeding and maybe even some more crushed rock tomake it look even better to those who saw it for the very first time).

As everybody was moving forward in one of the cars, any one of themcould see from the very first sight of my uncles cabin that it was made mostly of red brick (that it could also be easily seen that each brick on it appeared to beweathered for sure) and the big barn sitting right next door to it had wooden slatsthat had been painted most likely a bright red color at some point (although, itappears that with time, and some of the mountain weather, the paint on the barnhad faded some what so now it sort of appears to be kind of old). Also, any oneof us could see that the cabin was made mostly of walls that stopped at right thebarely seeable edge of the roof (which I only could tell that it was the edgebecause of the gutters along side it) then the cabin was finished with appeared tobe sort of faded white, wood shingles to provide for the roof top (hey, even the

surroundings were a spectacular sight, so there is no complaints from as far aswhat it looked like).

I mean to say, I had been up here before (so, to me nothing really seemedeven a little bit extraordinary), and yes, there are plenty different types of plantsback at home, it is just that when one is up here, all of the surroundings seem tohave retained more color and brightness when it is compared to the sights of Republic (in fact, even the windows of the cabin appeared to be somewhatgleaming, even though I would take a guess that no one has been up here to



provide any type of work on it for a few months). Actually, it could easily be seenthat along the walls of this cabin, it appeared like there was some dead ivy thathad been growing along the bottom edges of those walls. Despite what I haveseen before, I found that even I had to pause for a moment just to catch mybreath at the sight that was before me when we had finally pulled always the way

up to the cabin.Directly as soon as all of the cars had come to a full stop in front of thecabin, all of those that were inside each car just paused for a couple moments totake in all that was up here, and my guess is that one by one, each of usteenagers were finally all ready to get themselves out of the cars, and into thecabin. Once I saw that I was one of the first teenagers to get myself out of one of the Ford, I quickly closed the driver side door (although, I will admit to almostslamming that door onto my hand in the process, but fortunately I moved quickenough), and as soon as I knew that I was completely out of the car, I decided tomove around fast enough so I could at least unlock the trunk for the othersbefore moving myself on to the cabin, (hey, maybe I was thinking like a fool, I just

figured that if the trunk needed to closed, then I was pretty sure that LauraDaniels would close it before she came inside the cabin).Actually I was the very first one of us teenagers who had quickly walked

up to the front deck of my uncle's cabin, (which I was trying to do, in order to getto it's front door so I could make sure that once I had the door unlocked to a pointwhere it was clear that it would open up wide enough, I would have to make sureto remember to grab those keys, so I knew that I had actually remembered tohave them within easy grasp if any one asked for them, and an example could bemy uncle who has gotten after me for forgetting them before). Then once I sawthat the cabin door was open wide and I knew that the keys were on me, I let goof the brass door knob in order to quickly reach up towards the door, and firmly

place my left palm on it’s finely sanded (and cherry stained) wood, in order topush on it until I knew it was at a point where anyone could easily see that it wasall the way open, (and right after I had gotten the cabins door open wide enough,also I had to make sure that there was nothing in the walkway when the othersentered inside).

Directly after I had done all of this, while right in the doorway, I quicklyturned around in order to face all of the other teenagers so I could to say to them(before they had all entered), "Now please wait a moment, I feel that I should firstthis to all of you. Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen, to my Uncle John's very ownmountainside cabin that also happens to mostly be his little vacation retreat. Sowith that in mind, I feel that I must say, please let all that reside within these wallstreat each other, and what is there, with great care, and pure respect."

Right when I was done saying that, I just simply gestured with my hand for the other teens to enter inside, and then as they came into the cabin, I suddenlyalso said to the other teenagers, "Just so all of you know, I really am hoping thatall of your stays at this cabin will be felt as moments of great joy during this entireweekend. Now, as soon as we have all settled down a little bit, then let us allproceed onward to take all of our luggage that we have brought with us to a spotthat is in the cabin's living room, and then after all of that have been dealt with,



then we all can get together to go on about the simple process of discussing our sleeping arrangements within either this cabin, or maybe even in the other bedroom (which is located on the top level that is inside of the barn next door). If anyone ends up sleeping in there, please know that my uncle did spend a bunchof time designing it so hopefully it will not be uncomfortable at all."

Just as soon as I had got done saying all of that, I saw that all of the other teens had finished coming inside (it looked to me like all of them actually hadtheir own luggage already in their hands, and although some appeared to looklike they about to just drop the bags wherever they were standing at, amazinglyeveryone took the time to carry the bags into the living room). So once I couldsee that every teen had come inside and put their bags in the living room, thenwe just sat around and spent some time talking about any arrangements thatneeded to be made (although, right after we finished talking, Laura Danielsimmediately decided to move all of her bags from the pile in the living room to aseparate spot that was on the floor of the cabins foyer, and then afterward, Lauraquickly lowered herself to both of her knees most likely to pray to God, and I

hope bless this house for protection).Now, right as soon as it seemed that her whole prayer was finely finished,I saw Laura Daniels quickly stand straight back up from the very spot where shewas previously praying, and then after just a few seconds passed on by, Lauraturned around to look directly over at me, which I knew from the expression onher face, that I would go show her where she could unpack for the rest of thisweekend. So I guided her upstairs to show her where we were sleeping (yes, wewere sleeping in the same room), and as the two of us exited from the room,upon walking out of the bedroom door, she almost walked right into JeremiahJohnson. After a few more moments went by, the three of us took as long asneeded to make sure that we were all just fine, and then with Laura Daniels in

the lead, we proceeded to head back downstairs.After what seemed to be around an hour, first I left those two in the cabinskitchen so I could rush about as I gathered the other teens into the living room.Once I knew for a fact that they were all in there talking away with each other, Ihurried back into the kitchen when no one was talking to me, and a few minuteslater, all three of us could suddenly be seen walking at a very slow pace backinto the cabin's living room with what appeared to be plates of steaming hotdinners combined with a glass in each of our hands (also, it all must of appearedto be barely balanced by any of the others because it definitely felt that way tome). Fortunately, I can say that not one of those dinners fell from the hands, or arms, of anyone that was carrying those plates, and glasses (yeah, no mess for anyone to have to clean up).

Now just as soon as all of us teenagers had repositioned ourselves so wewere all just sitting down with our dinners set directly in front of us, my girl LauraDaniels suddenly went ahead to speak up to all the rest of us teenagers thatwere also there, "ATTENTION. Could I please have the attention of everyone isthis room? Now, I kind of feel that I have to speak out loud sort of quickly, inorder to ask that right before we all begin to eat our dinner, (or if some of us havealready began to eat, please let those people just pause for a moment before



they get even further into those dinners), and please let all of us that are heretake a quick moment to bow all of our heads for a brief moment, and then let usall proceed to show our appreciation to the Lord, by giving some grace to theHeavenly father for having all of this blessed food that is before us all on thisparticular night."

Just as soon as Laura was finished saying that, all of the teenagers thatwere sitting inside of that living room all took a moment to humbly bow each of our heads in order to say some grace to the Lord himself. Once we were all donesaying thank you to God for the gift of this food that we have presented with, weall went on ahead to either start, (or in a couple of cases, one might as well sayfinish off), our dinners that were prepared for us on that night.

Right as soon as it had appeared that all of the teenagers had allmanaged to finish off their dinners, Jeremiah Johnson, combined with myself,had both stood up from the places in that living room where we were both sittingat, and then after a few seconds, we proceeded to go about collecting every dirtydish that had come from those other teenagers (once both of us knew for sure

that all the dishes had been collected, then we took them all back into the kitchento go about the process of getting those dishes clean).Then after just a little more time had gone on by (which I guess started

from the moment J-Man and I had entered into the kitchen), Jeremiah Johnsonand I both finally were able to return into the cabin's living room (although, at thistime we were empty handed, and kind of damp as well). When we had bothcame all the way through the doorway, Jeremiah and I just stopped to lookaround the room, and at least I quickly realized that everyone of the others werestill inside the living room of my uncle's cabin just chatting away with each other like there was nothing different.

As I saw all this, it looked to me like all of the other teenagers had

apparently decided that they just decided to hang out with one another for a littlewhile (actually, once I spent a few minutes listening to some of the things thatwere being said, it seemed to me more like those teens were really just takingthat particular time to go about the process of sharing some of their personalsecrets with each other, without the chance of having any ears around that werenot wanted, which I am guessing is the reason why I have not heard at schoolsome of that stuff that was said during this night).

Now just as soon as those next few hours had passed by, the old coo-cooclock that was located on the north wall of the room actually chimed that the timewas midnight. So, a couple of moments after the last chime, in a very silentmanner both of the two Walker sisters had apparently decided to stand straightright up from the very spots where they both had been sitting at the time. Theyapparently did this, so both of the girls could go walk off in their own waystowards separate directions that most likely led to the bedrooms that theyselected earlier, (although in reality, I probably would of thought that both theWalker sisters would wanted to have wanted the same bedroom, and so in thiscase, it appears that I was really wrong).

Then for a just little while longer, the rest of the other teenagers haddecided to continue to stay inside of the living room (it appeared that part of what



kept them there was the fact that Dwayne Robinson, and I, were sharing with therest of the other teens a little joke that we had recently heard from our goodbuddy Nick Robinson, which also happened to be a joke that was actually sostupid that it managed to get most of the teenagers that was there listening to apoint where we were all laughing at the very same time of the others).

Just when a few more minutes went on by after that joke was said outloud, then it was Jeremiah Johnson who suddenly decided to stand up in order toturn around (in a manner that seemed rather quick to me) in order to say goodnight to each one of his friends who were just sitting around in the living room of this cabin (really all, he was basically was saying only two words to us, whichwas simply "Good Night").

Finally it had seemed that Jeremiah Johnson had succeeded in sayinggood night to all of the other teenagers that were there in that room, and as Iwatched him, Jeremiah turned around in the way that he apparently felt that heneeded to go in, which was so he could walk straight into the cabin’s foyer inorder to go on over and open up the front door. Once the door was open wide

enough, Jeremiah briefly paused before quickly heading outside (as a matter of afact, because of what he said to me earlier that day, my first guess would be thathe was most likely heading in the same direction that Jeremiah probably thoughtChris Walker had gone off to, which he was most likely thinking was the bedroomthat was in the barn, at least I think that was where Chris chose to go sleep).

When a few more minutes came around after J-Man had left the cabin,those of us that were still within the living room, took a few more moments to turnback and forth as we were facing each other to in order so we could say goodnight, and then after everybody appeared to be finished, slowly all of us juststood straight up to end up heading off into our own bedrooms for the rest of thenight (and yes, Laura was heading in the same direction as I, because we found

a room within the cabin that actually had two separate single beds in the verysame room, so we could keep true to what was previously agreed upon).

Chapter 6

On The Very Next Day



Sunday Morning, October 14th, 1993

As this next morning came about, I slowly came down the cabin’sstaircase (actually, saying that I was limping would most likely be the better

words to describe my actions). I only had on what was a light colored pair of greyplaid pajama bottoms on me (also, I was told later on, that it was pretty clear thatI woke up with kind of a wild hair day that morning as well). Right as soon as Ihad finally reached the bottom step of those stairs, I stopped for a moment tobreathe a huge sigh of relief (which I did because I was happy that I had made itsafely downstairs that morning because, in truth despite of the facts that I onlyyoung enough to be a senior student in high school, and I had just woken up, Iwas not feeling that great).

Once I was completely down the staircase, then I proceeded to turnaround to my left side, in order to end up walking right into the cabin's kitchen. Afew minutes later, it could be seen that I was followed by my girl Laura Daniels,

who also appeared to be having her red hair look kind of wild (and this to a pointwere it was clear that she had not brushed it all). My guess was that she washaving a bad hair day herself this morning, (and not even I had known before thatshe sometimes slept in pajamas that looked almost like they were the pajamas of a bunch little kids).

Now, the cabin that had such a big kitchen that it also seemed to havesuch a big wooden dining room table directly within the middle of the room. OnceI had finally entered into the cabin's kitchen, I suddenly paused in order to lookback and forth among the teenagers that were already in there, (which almosteveryone, with the exception of Christina Walker, who my guess was apparentlystill sleeping in her bedroom, because she clearly was not here). As soon as my

eyes had finished going back and forth, I quickly just shook my head, and then Iwent about saying to all that was there as nice a greeting as I could (which wascombined with a simple question that was on my mind), "Well, good morning tomy fellow cabin dwellers. I am just slightly wondering, how is everyone doing onthis very nice morning?"

At the very same moment that my girl was sitting down at the kitchentable, Jeremiah Johnson quickly looked up from where he was sitting at to lookright at me, and apparently right when Jeremiah could see that I was listening tohim speak, he proceeded on to say directly to me, "Well Sam, I guess that I amgoing to speak for all those that are here at this moment, by simply saying thelittle fact, that in our own ways, we all appear to be doing just fine on this lovelySunday morning. Although I am curious, why are you limping?"

Right afterwards, the only thing I could do for a few moments was to lookright into Jeremiah's black eyes, and then as soon as I was able to, I went aboutputting a smile on to my face that most likely would win some type of an award,then I had to force myself to look down to the floor, and when I looked like backup, I saw that I was looking directly eye to eye with Jeremiah Johnson (and yetafter a few seconds, all I could really do was wink one of my eyes at him).

A few minutes later after that had happened, I found that I was able to turn



my head back towards the refrigerator that happened to be right inside thecabin's kitchen. Once that was done, I proceeded on to walk straight over to openthe refrigerator's door, to reach inside of it to bring out the orange juice galloncontainer that was inside of the refrigerator, (and directly afterwards, I felt that Ihad to put that orange juice gallon on to the counter top that was actually on the

right side of my body).Just after I had finished taking the juice out of the refrigerator, I reachedup to take a tall glass out of the cupboard, and then I reached over to pick up theorange juice so I could pour myself a glass of it. Then after I had finished pouringthe orange juice into the glass, and right when the glass was filled up, I decidedto walk straight over from where I was at to be at the kitchen window (to proceedto look outside at the very same time as I was drinking my tall glass of orange

juice).As soon as I had drank about half of the contents that were within the

glass that I was holding, I really looked like outside and then I ended up pausingright in the middle of what I was doing. Just right when I really looked I leaned

forward where I was, so I could look even closer through the kitchen window thenwhat I could see like as if I was just quickly passing by the kitchen window, andthen right before my face was actually touching the glass panes that was in thekitchen window, I quickly gasped very sharply at what I could see was lying onthe ground outside of the cabin.

Once I saw what was outside it led to me accidentally spilling the rest of my glass of orange juice right into the stainless steel sink, meanwhile I managedto keep a tight hold of the glass itself at the very same time that my hand tipped(so it did not actually drop into the sink, although it still might of cracked theglass, considering how hard I was suddenly holding on to that glass), and then Iproceeded to go about leaning very even more far forward over the kitchen sink

so I could look even closer as to what was lying down outside of the cabin on thatperiod of the day.The very next thing that I did was to quickly put my tall glass inside of the

cabin's sink, and then I proceeded to quickly spin around in order to face all of those other teenagers that were sitting at the cabin's kitchen table. At that point, Iturned my head around so that I could ask all of those guys who were sitting atthe cabin's kitchen table, "Alright, all of you guys that were involved had better confess up to whoever the teenager it was that knocked over those garbage cansthat were outside of this cabin last night. I mean, whoever it was that strew outthe garbage within those outside garbage cans, how (and why) did whoever itwas manage to get it strewn it all over the front lawn and onto the cabin'sdriveway?"

Jeremiah Johnson quickly looked right up at me, and once he knew thathe had my attention, he suddenly asked me (with a very genuine look of curiositythat was on his face), “Sam, you happen to know every one of us that are hereare all from the very same school, and every chance that we get we all manageto hang out together. I mean it when I feel that I have to ask you, why is it thatyour first thought that you apparently believe that it was one of us that made thatmess?”



I turned myself around to face Jeremiah Johnson, and then once I knewthat he was really listening to me, I said to him (actually it was directly to hisface), “J-Man, all you teens are the only people that I know are up here with me(at least, as far as I know) in this mountainside cabin, and I know where I am atthis moment, so I am pretty sure that I know where I was currently located last

night. Also, I know for sure that Laura Daniels was in the same room with me lastnight so it could not have been her either that was outside of the cabin. This veryfact will leave so the rest of you guys could go sneak outside last night, and messwith each of those garbage cans last night!”

Right after that had been said by me, Laura Daniels quickly turned herself all the way around, which she suddenly followed by Laura taking her crossnecklace out from underneath her pajamas in order to start rubbing it, and thenshe quickly walked out of the cabin's room to go back upstairs. Although, Lauradid pause to humbly bow her head for a couple of minutes, and then a fewmoments after she paused, Laura straighten her head and she decided to backup the cabins stairway (although where Laura went to exactly, I don't really know

for a fact).A few minutes after Laura had gone back up those stairs, Nick Robertsonsuddenly spoke up from where he was sitting at inside the cabins kitchen, andthen right at that moment he said to all of those who were listening to him, “Sam,while it is nice to know that the two of you are able to stay in the same roomwithout doing anything naughty. However, it's time to for me to speak up for myself, so please just let me speak out loud right now to you. Now, as far as I goon this particular subject that we have just been talking about, yes it is true, lastnight I was walking around outside in the middle of the night, although anyonethat is here can be sure that I did not touch those garbage cans (in fact, last Isaw of those cans, they were all doing just fine as far as I could see of them)."

Nick Robertson stopped for a moment to take a really deep breath, andthen after a few seconds, he went on by adding to what he was previously sayingwith, "Although, I do have to say that while I was amidst my walking around lastnight (I have found that sometimes I need to get sleepy), I did end up seeing atrail that looks like it leads on a path that goes kind of deep into the CascadeMountain forest. Although, I do have to say that the trail did look kind of rocky, soif we do end up go about the procedure of taking that trail, we will have to be sureto wear very good, (and from what I saw, probably very tough shoes), someclothes that are very tough too, and we will also have to be sure to keep an eyeout for any forest dangers that could be blocking the path.”

Suddenly at that very point, the back door that was within the inside of thecabin's kitchen quickly came open (actually in reality, it almost seemed to slamopen), and right at that very moment that door was open wide enough, suddenlyChristina Walker came rushing inside the cabin's kitchen (with a type of appearance that had a look of someone who was just woke up, and then thatsame person who let themselves get extremely frustrated at was there in thatroom).

When Christina Walker came all the way inside of the cabin, it was prettyclear by the way that she had gotten dressed that she was in a quick hurry (she



was wearing a pair of old jeans that was right now on her in such a way that wasso crooked that it was pretty clear that she almost just yanked them on, an old t-shirt that was clearly still her shirt that Chris wore while asleep last night). Also,Chris had put on some sneakers that were worn down, and it also appeared tobe slightly torn on part of the shoes themselves (in fact, both shoes were tied

really badly, in such a way that both of those shoes looked like they could comecompletely untied at any moment while she was wearing them).Right as she entered into the kitchen, Chris immediately proceeded to trip

over the garbage bin that was in her way, and then she fell almost right onto thekitchen's dining room table. She looked right up towards Jeremiah Johnson, andthen she immediately asked him, " So, Jeremiah! Just what on earth did you doto that bedroom, in order to get it to the point that it was trashed up like that whenyou had left?"

Jeremiah Johnson quickly answered Chris by directly saying to her, "Well,good morning to you too, Christina Walker. Chris, so far this morning, you can besure that I did not do anything inside that room except wake up, get off the couch

that was in that room, pull some clean clothes on me, and then I proceeded toleave that bedroom, in order to come into this cabin’s kitchen to have somebreakfast. So, anything at all that was done to that bedroom must have beendone by either you, or somebody else altogether!"

Chris Walker made a really big sigh towards Jeremiah Johnson, then sheturned her head around until Chris was facing me, and then she decided to sayto me (with an expression of relief on her face), "Although in a way it is reallyhard to accept it, I really do actually believe him. Mainly, because J-Man does notseem to be the type of person who would go about trashing a room like thatinside of that barn. Although that also does mean that if it was not really him thatmessed with that room, then somebody else snuck up inside of that bedroom

while we were both inside of it, and then proceeded to trash it up knowing thatthe two of us were the only ones who where in there at that moment (all thosethat did come in to do that inside of that bedroom, most likely guessed that Iwould most likely be the one to actually notice what was done, and all of thosewho did that, probably also guessed that I would automatically blame the J-Man)."

At that same bit of time that was right after Chris finished had saying all of that, I just shrugged both of my shoulders, and then I responded to what she saidwith this answer, "Hey now, old a moment. As far as Laura and I, well first thingsfirst, we have been in the same room so nothing was done by us last night, andas far as this morning goes, both of us woke up around the same time and camedown into this kitchen at the same time. Besides Chris, does it look to you like wedid anything more than wake-up and come down to get something inside of ourselves?"

When I was clearly finished speaking, Dwayne Robinson quickly lookedup from where he was at inside of the kitchen, and he said out loud, "Hey Chris, Ialso have no good idea who was responsible for whatever happened last night,(all I can say is that it definitely was not me). So if that room was indeed messedwith in a very bad way, then you can be sure that it must have been done by





After a few minutes passed by, suddenly I laughed out loud, and then Iproceeded to ask Jeremiah Johnson, "Okay J-Man, now you have me standinghere feeling kind of curious. Just what is it that you think you are doing to myUncle John's cabin, and also, I would really like to know why it is that you aredoing whatever it is that you are doing to the floor of this cabin?"

Jeremiah Johnson quickly sat back up, only this time with a kind of small,dirty, and black colored book in his left hand, and once again it appeared thatlook of curiosity (that they have seen before) happened to be on Jeremiah’s faceonce again.

At that moment, Jeremiah Johnson looked directly upwards (right to thepoint where he was looking into my big brown eyes), and then after a fewminutes went on by, Jeremiah proceeded to ask me, "Sam, I remember that youpreviously had said to us that you knew almost everything there was to knowabout this place. So, I am wondering, did you know that this old book was in your Uncle John's floor?"

At that moment I looked closely at him, and the old book that was in his

hand, and on my face I was looking with a similar expression of curiosity likeJeremiah had, and so I suddenly said out loud to him, "Actually J-Man, I amgoing to tell you the absolute truth. I had not any real idea that this book waseven in this cabin. Actually, I do have to say that I am kind of curious to see whothat book even belongs to, and just what it might contain within it."

Then Jeremiah put the old book right onto the table in the cabin's kitchen,he leaned a little bit backward in his chair, and then Jeremiah decided to reachover to slowly open the books cover. He leaned even closer towards themysterious book, and then Jeremiah began by reading out loud, "PrivateProperty. This is the last Journal of George Thompson." Just after he finishedreading that, Jeremiah then looked straight up towards me, and then Jeremiah

immediately proceeded to ask me, "Hey Sam, isn't George Thompson the nameof your other Uncle?"Now a few seconds after he asked about that, I slowly reached over to

grab the journal from Jeremiah Johnson’s hand, and when I finally had it in myhands, I spent a few minutes reading a little bit of it. Once I got to a section thatseemed like it might contain some information in it, I paused in what I wasreading, and I looked to say to my friend, “You know what I think so Jeremiah,although why his journal would be inside of this cabin (that actually belongs to hisolder brother), now that is something I do not have any answer for. Here you goJ-Man, please take this book back, and read out loud to the rest us some of whatit says in the last entry. Perhaps, by taking the time to read some of those words,it might (at least in some way) actually do some explaining for all of us.”

As soon as that was all said, I simply tossed the old black book backtowards Jeremiah (actually it landed sort of hard onto the kitchen table). Oncethat journal had finally landed on the table (and afterwards the light dust cloudslowly had settled down), Jeremiah slowly reached forward to carefully pick upthat book from where it was at that point, and right after Jeremiah had picked itup so he could read it, he leaned forward a bit in order to start flipping throughthe brittle pages that inside of it (hopefully, he was just trying to find the very last



entry).Just as soon as he was almost done going all the way through that old

journal, Jeremiah suddenly paused which led to him suddenly sitting straight upfrom the chair that he was sitting in, so Jeremiah Johnson could say out loud (toeveryone who was there listening to him), “Ah, here we go. Now, this seems to

be what appears to be the very last entry within this journal. So yes, Sam, I willgo ahead, and read it out loud so the rest of you will be able to know what it says:Entry #66, Date: Friday, October 13th 1978, Well, to let whoever is taking

the time to go through to be reading this (which I am only saying if they are not myself now), this happens to be my very last entry in this journal. So that being the case, I have thought about it, and I have decided to explain why I haveentered what I have been forced to leave in this entry. Also, because of the fact that I am hiding out within this cabin, this journal might end up being found in my brother’s cabin (so I have to also have to attempt to be sort of brief as well, eventhough I will leave it in a spot where I doubt anyone will look in).

First things first, I feel that I must tell about the little trip into the forest

recently. While we were hiking through the nearest forest, at one point we had tostop because I had gotten my foot stuck in a way that I could not reach far enough to it to get it out. So, my loser of a brother ended up helping, and assoon as my foot was dug out, we found it! This was a book that was obviously old, and faded, (within it contained an arcane text of a language that was hard for even me to decipher it (when we first saw it, and even some time later, it took bringing quite a few others to beyond the point of life just to be able to read someof what it contained). Now, a month or two after we found it, my brother decidethat he wanted nothing to do with it (although, in my mind, I can comprehend asto what his real reason was for making this decision (as far as I go, well, I found that this book was really interesting and I what to learn as much as I could about

it). Some very snotty teenagers (that in my mind, are nothing much else but little Christians with attitudes) have all suddenly disappeared (without any trace)from the local community, which is a community that includes me because I livewithin the areas where I know the community boundries cover. So, I know that their first thoughts were most likely to look in my direction, because they know that I do not really believe in any form Christianity (even if they do), and I do, at certain times, even practice a little of some basic witchcraft (that even includessome human sacrifices), so then I have to assume that most likely I must be the

prime suspect they are looking so hard for. I doubt that they are suspecting my brother even though he spends time here as well. Also, the fact that I have acriminal past does not help to have them overlook me.

After all, there is no way that it can be my loser brother, who has really been nothing but a goody-two-shoes for basically all of his life, (although, I haveto say that my sister is sort of cute and intelligent, so I am pretty sure that any children of hers will most likely be perfect to live with). With that being the case, I will just finish by saying that maybe I am the culprit that they are looking for, and then again maybe I am not. Even if I were, I would not even tell it in this book (unless, it was really important to me).



So, the local authorities have found enough evidence to the point that they have been able to make it very clear to me that either I leave any area in theentire community (and stay gone), or I will spend the rest of my time on this

planet, in jail while they investigate deeply, and completely into whether or not I actually am the culprit (and they have been known to take forever in their

investigations). I will just go spend the rest of my time dwelling down in a placewhere (for the most part) there are only shadows and darkness! "A few moments after that last word had been read, it was clear to us that

Jeremiah Johnson just stopped reading from the old journal when he slowlylowered both his arms (as he put the old dirty book right back down onto thekitchen table). Then it could definitely be seen as Jeremiah proceeded to lift uphis head (along with his hands quickly pulling his black hair straight back at aboutthe same time, and also for some reason his hair appeared kind of damp to me),and a few seconds later, Jeremiah looked directly over to me to ask me just onesimple question, “Well, well, my man Sam Thompson, did any of that materialthat I just read out loud answer some of the questions that you had inside of

you?” I reached downward towards the kitchen table, and then once I was closeenough that I was able to have picked up the book from the table itself, (and hesaid as soon as he had that book), “Actually J-Man, there was a lot of what wasin that entry that you just read, that did answer most of the questions that I had.Although right now, I suppose that we should all just put this petty stuff aside and

just go get in the best, and probably most protective clothes that we have with usthis week end, and then we should all just go take a quick hike on that trail thatNick saw last night when he was messing around. True, it might be old with someitems on the ground blocking the path, although I think between all of us we can

most likely find a way to clear up anything that is on the path and in the way.”



Chapter 7

Inside the Big Wild Cascade Forest Sunday, October 14th, 1993

Now as this day went on by, I ended up leading all of those other teenagers outside of the cabin, right until we had all reached what appeared tobe the very beginning of a trail in the woods (which appeared to be the one that Iwas told earlier started close by to this cabin). As we started to walk onto the



trail, I managed to push some pine branches away that happened to be danglingright in front of my face as we walked down the trail. Only once it seemed that assoon as those first few tree branches were moved away, then our entire groupwas able to continue this hike into the forest (without much blockages).

After a few feet, I suddenly had to completely stop right where I was

standing at that moment, so afterwards I proceeded to turn around to face all of those that were right behind me (actually, Laura Daniels and Jeremiah Johnsonwere almost right beside me, so I it is true that with them I almost turned right intothem), and then I had to say to the rest of the group, "Alright all of you guys, (andyes, I am saying this to you girls as well), you all should be very careful whereyou walk down this path. Please be sure to help each other out (even if it onlyslightly appears that aid might be needed), and you definitely should be sure towatch out for anything that is blocking the path (although most of thoseblockages that come upon I will do my best to get rid of first, so those that near the back of this group might not come on any blocks at all). After all that hasbeen said, seeing how most of you most likely don't want to go back to school

next week, you do not want to be absent because you are on the injured list for being seriously hurt either."Then I turned around right at that point, and I led the group as we

proceeded to go farther down that trail. After a few minutes going a ways on thetrail (I have to say that during the walk, there was a bunch of twist, turns, andfallen trees in our way), soon we had come to a Y-split that was along the trail'spath. As soon as we had walked right upon it, we had to stop in our tracks,turned our heads far enough to the right side so we could see (at leastsomewhat) what was behind us, and then I felt like I had to ask the other teens,"Alright all of you, so please tell me. Do you want to explore this other mysterioustrail that is leading off to the left side, or do you want to continue going along

hiking on this trail (which appears to me like it goes on to the right side)?"As soon as the teenagers were asked this, the teens quickly lookedaround at each other which led to Jeremiah deciding to speak up to say out loudto me, "Sam, I will be brave to speak for us all to say that as much as we all aresomewhat curious as to where this other path actually leads to, we did go aboutstarting this hike into this forest with you as are guide to lead us, and so whereever you decide that you want to go, then you can be sure that we will probablyfollow and go as well."

Once that had been said, I just shrugged both of my shoulders, turned myhead straight so I was looking in front of me, and then a few seconds later, Idecided to continue to go along with the original trail that we started on (besides,that other path looked like it had been less traveled upon, and it was clear thatthe most recent tracks were tire tracks).

Now, while the rest of us were moving on, Nick Robertson and StacyWalker were busy whispering away with each other, and probably because theywere at the back of the group, both of them were only really paying attention toeach other. My guess as to what happened was that without realizing it at all,both of them accidentally started walking onto that other path (so they ended upheading away from the other teenagers).



Another guess of mine is that once they had both suddenly realized thatwhile the two of them were so deep into their conversation, both of them hadmanaged to stray away from the other teenagers, (and so maybe the two of them

just ended up heading down that same trail path, and they were probably hopingthat both of them would either end up being found, and/or they would find their

way back to the cabin).My assumption is that a few minutes later, Nick Robertson, and StacyWalker had probably paused one more time to turn around to look directly intoeach other's eyes. Then right as soon as a few more seconds went on by, both of them probably quickly followed this action by shrugging both of their shoulders atthe very same time as each other, and then they decided to continue on withwalking along same trail that they were currently traveling upon at that verymoment.

Right as the two of them ended walking onto the other path, most likelyNick Robertson and Stacy Walker probably ended walking right up ontosomething I found a little while later (but I will still describe it here as what must of

appeared to them to be a kind of dirty, black colored cottage with only a smallyard). In fact, both of them probably were able to see that the color on the lawnwas a brownish-yellow as it looked like it had dead leaves on the groundsurrounding what looked like an old trap door (most likely, the main reason for there being dead leaves there instead of pine needles was because unlike theother trees that were within the Cascade forest, there happened to be a witheredlooking, almost black colored oak tree that was located in the middle of the yard).Anyways, in reality I would would not really see this until later, and my guess, isthat as soon as the two of them had stranded off of the trail to go investigate,then that was most likely when they both disappeared.

Meanwhile, the other teenagers and I, have all come upon a slight

problem on our hike. In fact, the group had to suddenly stop in our movementforward, and mainly the reason for why we had to stop was because, in theprocess of walking along this strange trail, we had suddenly come across whatwas once a small clearing that was just sitting in the middle of this forest, untilnow as it had three very big trees laying directly in the middle of it (so, I wouldguess that now it probably really could no longer be called a clearing, actually itmight even be called a dead end to this trail).

Now, after we spent a few minutes of trying as hard as could, it was prettyclear that all three of those trees happened to be way too big for any of usteenagers to be able to move, and as soon as I realized that was the actual case,the first thing that I ended up doing was to give off a very noisy sigh (that I bet alot of the others heard), and then I turned my head around so I was also lookingbehind me towards those faces that belonged to the rest of the group.

After I knew that I was seeing all of those that were there with us, I turnedaround my head back around in order to say (as loud as I could just so everyoneout there could hear everything that I had said), “Well, seeing how these treesseem to be extremely large, we all can probably take a guess that we were notmeant to go hiking in this direction, and perhaps we should not even be on thispath at all. However, I have to say that my suggestion for this situation is, how



about we all just decide to turn back around so we can try that other trail paththat we had came upon earlier.”

I paused to turn my head back and forth as I scanned over the group for amoment, and then I quickly added this statement, “Also, I have noticed that acouple teens are missing from our group, (and I know that we started this walk

with them). So, while we are going down that other path, we can also probably goabout a procedure of looking for both Nick Robertson, and Stacy Walker, (it is myguess that is most likely the way that they went on). As a matter of a fact, I amwilling to bet on that neither of them even really realized that they had bothparted ways from this group.”

Now just as soon as I had finished saying all of that, the other teenagersthat were with me started to look around to each other (actually some werestarting to look into the forest, probably to attempt to see either one of those twoteens). After only a few more minutes had gone by, I could finally see that it wasthen that most of them all had realized the fact was that those that were missingmight not be around at all. So within a few more moments of looking around, the

teenagers finally started to go about the simple process of calling out the namesof both Nick Robertson and Stacy Walker (and maybe one of those two evenheard one of those calls).

After the teenagers finally realized that we were not going to get any typeof answer to our calls, then the whole group started to walk back down the samedirection the teens had originally came from when we started this hike. Onceevery one of us teenagers had walked back just far enough in order to reach thestarting point of that other trail path, I suddenly made a quick movement with myright arm in order to make a motion so the group would follow me down this other trail, (in fact, while we were walking this other path some of us were periodicallycalling out Nick Robertson’s, and Stacy Walker’s name).

Right after we had walked down that other path for a while, suddenly wecame up onto what looked (to me at least) like a very small yard with whatappeared to be an old, kind of dead look to most of the grass (also, there waswhat looked a lot like an old wooden trapdoor in the middle of the yard, or fieldmight be the better word to use in this case).

So after a few more seconds of staring at different spots, we all just lookedover at each other which was followed by the rest of our group walking together as one whole unit until we had gotten even closer to the cottage itself. As amatter of fact, it was close enough so we could also clearly see that there was awithered, black colored oak tree that was growing in the middle of this yard(which I do have to say that at least to me, this particular tree looked sort of "outof place" in this pine tree forest, and maybe it does not really belong in this statealtogether).

I continued on forward with the other teenagers up to the cottage's frontdoor when a really noisy (and kind of strong) quickly blew through thesurrounding plant life, I suddenly stopped directly where I was at (just so I couldturn around to face most of the others in order to make sure that we were all stilltogether, I would hate to suddenly lose someone else while we were out here).Once I knew for sure that we were all still there, I suddenly said in a really loud



voice (in fact, just why I said it this loud, even I do not really know), "Well, sincewe are all here, then we might as well go investigate into this shabby cottage(and just maybe, we will even be able to find those of us that are missing fromthis group)."

Right after I had said this, I turned made myself turn around to face the

cottage, and I knew that I was walking with Laura Daniels following right behindme, I proceeded onward into the inside of the cottage (most likely, my girl wasalso in the cottage as well, even though the inside did seem really dirty, andappeared kind of small). As a matter of a fact, when I looked behind me I couldsee that most of the other teenagers were on their way to come inside as well(which is kind of what got me to turn and start looking around).

Both Laura Daniels and I went on walking through that dirty, (and so far iteven appeared to be almost completely empty as well), cottage while we wereeven calling out both the names of Stacy Walker and Nick Robertson (just incase they were within hearing range of us, even though if they were notresponding those calls from outside then why would we expect any different, but

still we tried). When it was clear that there was no answer that was going tocome to either one of us, both Laura and I went back outside the cottage to sayto the other teenagers (as they came out as well), that as far as we could tell,there was no one else is inside of this depressing cottage.

Now, just as soon that all of that information had been said to every one,both Chris Walker and I suddenly went back inside for a few moments to end up

just turning to face one another to stare at each others face with looks of concernand frustration, and a few moments after that, both of us ended up heading backoutside of this cottage, and once a few more seconds had gone by, the rest of usheaded back down the rest of the trail until we had reached the cabin

I do have to say that while all of the teens continued to walk down the

main trail, at least once every minute or so, some of those teens that remainedeven tried to call out both the names of Stacy Walker, and Nick Robertson (andthis was probably done, in case either one of those teenagers were withinearshot, and they could be found). I know that if I knew where ever those twomight be at, I would most likely even take some extra time to go looking for thosetwo (even though, I am sure that they both still might just find their own way backto this cabin, or maybe they will end up back at home in Republic).



Interlude 2

Wake-Up Call For Stacy



When Stacy Walker finally was able to wake up enough to think, Stacyquickly figured out that she was also barely able to slowly open her right eye, andthen a couple minutes afterwards, Stacy went through a process trying to blink afew times with her left eye until she was able to open that one. After she tried for

a few times, Stacy found that she was finally able to slowly open up both of her eyes at the very same time, (although she had to admit once more to herself thatthere was still the fact that both of her eyes were only able to stay open for shortperiods of time, no matter how hard she tried).

So just a few minutes later, Stacy Walker found that she had to blink her eyes for a couple of times, and once more Stacy was pretty sure that she wasable to look through both of her eyes once again, (however, once more both of her eyes were only just barely open enough so Stacy could see everything thatshe could possibly see that was within that room), and this is when Stacy had her first real thought about her surroundings (at least, since she woke up) which wassimply that she probably was no longer within the forest that was on the Cascade

Mountain (at least she had never seen this room before now).As some more time went on by, Stacy Walker found that she was able to

turn her head back and forth so she could lat least look around a little bit (so thatbeing the case, Stacy tried to see as much as she could). In fact, she tried to gothe process of trying to be able to see just what she was sitting in, (and whatappeared to her was that she was in a kind of dirty, and badly painted white,chair that was in the opposite side of this room from the stairs). Also, it looked toStacy Walker like there was odd flickering lights that was apparently coming fromsomewhere on the floor.

After a few more minutes had passed on by, Stacy Walker went fromhaving her bowed to suddenly turning her head around one more time so she

could scan the room once more (well, again as much as she could look at), andthen Stacy slowly realized the fact that the only real reason that she could seeanything at all, was actually because it seemed that those flickering lights shehad noticed earlier in this room was only actually lit up by five red candles thatlooked like they were arranged in some sort of star shape on the dirty stone floor (otherwise, the room seemed kind of dim lighted to her, which was combined withwhat appeared to be a light dust cloud that was hanging around).

Once she was finally done trying her best to look around, Stacy Walker paused before she tried just wriggle herself free for a small amount of time, onlyto quickly realize that the tight pressure she was apparently feeling was sometype of coarse rope, or another coarse cord of some kind, that was on both of her

wrists, as well as her ankles.At that moment that she had realized this little bit of information, Stacy

Walker proceeded to take another guess that the most likely reason that shecould not really talk is probably because of a gritty cloth that was inside her mouth, (and the truth was, that to her it felt like it was almost as tight as the verycords bound her to this chair, so there was no way she get out of her mouth firsthaving her hands free).

After a little while longer, Stacy Walker tried to wriggle around for a little bit



more, and after a tiny amount of time, Stacy stopped to try to yell through thegag, then Stacy suddenly stopped once more in order to let loose what soundedsort of like a very large sigh. A few seconds after she breathed this sigh, her nextthought that was inside of her head was basically a realization the fact was thatStacy knew that she did not like the situation she was in at all, and as much as

she tried, Stacy was not going to be able to get out of it either.After she had completely realized this, she decided to just bow her head inhumility, and then she looked back up so she could to turn her head around to anoise she heard from the right side. So, when her head was turned as far over tothe right side as she could move it, then Stacy found that she could see rightwhere her friend Nick Robertson was located at, and after a moment or two of trying to get a good look at him, she finally was able see enough to guess that hewas not really appearing to be in any good condition at all.

As Stacy Walker looked as close as she could (which she achieved bybending her neck forward a little bit more than it was before), she could moreclearly see that her friend’s current situation did not look to be any better then

hers, (as Nick appeared to her to be in kind of a unconscious state, and itappeared like he was hanging from a wall). A wall which was located in thecorner of the room that seemed to be farthest from where Stacy was at thatmoment, and also to her it appeared that this wall happened to be right next towhat looks like the only real stairway into this dark, and dirty room.

Also, when Stacy was looking as she could, Stacy found that she was ableto see that Nick Robertson appeared to be bound in such a way that his wristsseemed to be tied together while they were hanging over his head, and also, hisface seemed to have (what looked to Stacy Walker) like a single stream of areddish-brown liquid running down his left cheek (to her it looked like it wasblood). Stacy was also able to barely see that what his wrists appeared like they

were actually hanging from seemed in a way to look a lot like it was some kind of a rusty hook that was really coming from the interior of the wall itself.Now the very first reaction that came to her, (after Stacy Walker finally

was able to see her good friend Nick Robertson), was that Stacy made adecision that she was going to try to do her best to yell out to hopefully get hisattention, (even though she knew that even if he really could hear her yell, he stillmight not even be able to do anything being bound up like he was).

Right when Stacy tried to yell out to Nick Robertson a few times, suddenlyStacy managed to make the small white chair that she was bound in, reallyshake back and forth on its wooden legs (and it did not seem to be very steadyas it rocked like this). After a couple of seconds of enduring this, Stacy felt it asthe chair that she was in, fell over to what seemed to be the left side of her, andright as soon as the chair had fallen onto the floor, Stacy managed to slam theside of her head onto the cold stone of the floor (which was quickly followed bythe rest of her body falling onto the left side).

At the same moment after Stacy's head smacked onto that cold stonefloor, the expression on her face quickly changed from one of concern into quiteanother as she suddenly made a grimace of pain. So, for the next few minutes asshe was trying to figure out just what she was going to do, Stacy also suddenly



realized that the rest of the silence that was within that room was disturbed asshe could suddenly hear a slightly low sound as if someone was sharply whistlingin shame, at a distance that was behind where she was laying at.

That sharp whistling sound just kept coming closer, and closer to her, rightuntil it sounded almost just a couple feet behind her, which when it got to that

point, the sound Stacy was hearing was suddenly replaced with some type of adeep, rough sounding voice speaking (and it almost sounded like it was justabout directly into one of her ears), “Well my, my, my. Here happens to be sometype of a little girl who has managed to make her chair, and herself, manage tofall over onto the hard, cold floor. Which this was probably because she was notbeing a very good girl, and I know just what to do with all of those little girls whohappen to be acting kind of feisty. Although, I do know that there are certainlysome things that are really hard to take care of, however in this particular case, Icertainly do know just how to take care of this little lady. Oh don't fret yourself, Iam sure in the end things will be just fine (for one of us at least).”

Right as soon as this was all said, then that voice suddenly had gone

completely silent (in fact, to Stacy it seemed like whoever was speaking beforewas not even breathing, or at least she did not hear any breathing sounds), andafter some time went on by, Stacy Walker could suddenly hear behind her something that sounded like it was one of those old, cord-start chain saws thatcould be seen used by many kinds of villains in so many different movies. After afew seconds Stacy could hear it shut down, but what sounded like a couple of hard pulls soon afterward, it started right up just a little way behind her, (and fromthe sound of it, Stacy could tell that whoever was holding it was coming closer).

Right at the same time that she realized that the sound of that old chainsaw was clearly coming even closer to her, she started to freak out and startingwriggling even more than before. Suddenly Stacy could hear that low, rough

voice speak up one more time in order to say to her, "Oh yes, by the way littlegirl, you can do me a really big favor, and don't bother yourself to worry aboutwhether or not your friends will actually find us where we are at now. After all, Imade sure that both you and I are nicely tucked away in my hidden basement,which also happens to be far enough away so it will not be found with myrundown cottage, (which means that if your friends do go looking for you, thenthat cottage will be all they will really manage to find, unless they are smartenough to go looking around and maybe see the doors leading out)."

Just after her captor had apparently sounded like he had finished sayingall of what he had to say, the sound of the saw sounded like it was almost rightbehind her, and at the next moment (and along with the noise coming from thatsaw), Stacy Walker could hear what sounded kind of like (well, at least itsounded very similar to) very evil laughter like what she had heard before insome old movie.

In a few more minutes, all the noises stopped in the room except for thatother voice saying out loud, “Well, now that has been taken care of, I have get togo clean all this off me (fortunately, I personally know that blood comes right off if one gets to washing it quick enough), and then I get to figure out what I am goingto do with this.”



Chapter 8

Cabin Homecoming Sunday Night, October 14th, 1993

As soon as the rest of us had finally walked out of the forest to reach thefront of my uncle's cabin, we all paused for a minute to end up very briefly talkingwith each other, and after a couple of minutes, we decided to finish walking from



the start of this trail on up the dirt driveway in order to get to the front door of thecabin (which this group ended up doing in total silence the whole entire time thatwe were moving).

Now, once the group of teenagers had finally reached the cabin, I quicklyrushed forward in order to go unlock the cabin door (I only hurried so I could do it

without the pressure of having anybody standing either directly next to me, or right behind me). Then right as soon as I got started opening up the cabin’s door,I quickly found out that the front door was suddenly squeaking really loudly(which led me to believe that perhaps the hinges might be in a little need of somedoor hinge grease).

Right when a few more moments had passed on by, (and I could definitelysee that this front door was certainly open wide enough so I knew for sure that Icould enter and not be in the way at all), I quickly made a choice to try once moreat attempt to be a gentleman to the rest of the group. So once I was inside, Isimply stood back to hold open the cabins door (at least until I could see thateveryone who I was with had managed to enter into this cabin, and once I was

able to see that finally the last of the group had entered inside, that was when Idecided to cautiously close the front door, and after I knew it was closedcompletely, I proceeded to turn around to face the others).

Now, even though in a way I was feeling sort of happy to be able to besuch a nice guy, as I looked around me, I could tell that my present actions werestill not enough to prevent all those other teenagers from entering with the sametype of looks that made it pretty clear that those teens had come back kind of upset (probably about what happened), and perhaps some of them might beslightly worried about those missing teenagers (at least, I know for sure that I amsort of worried, after all, I wonder if they will ever be found up here).

Among my next thought was the realization that one of those concerned

faces that I saw come inside my uncle's cabin was my the face of my beautifulLaura Daniels, so I suddenly decided to get moving from the front door to turningmy body around enough to walk at a kind of fast pace into the cabin’s kitchenwhere I was pretty sure that I had previously saw my beautiful girl walk off to,(although, I do have to admit that I really was not positive about what I saw until Iwas able to her leaning against the table drinking a glass of ice water).

As soon as I realized that I had now moved to where I was standingdirectly in front of Laura Daniels, I simply reached up my left hand so it was aboutchest high, and right when it had been raised to the correct height, I simplymoved that hand so it was turned upwards (so Laura could easily see that thepalm of it was facing up towards her face). At first she just spent a coupleminutes looking back and forth from my palm up to my face, and once I could tellthat she might of realized what I wanted, suddenly Laura decided to grab a holdof that hand and I led her out of the kitchen to go into the living room, (sohopefully we could both just talk with each other in private). As it was apparentlyclear that the two of us just needed to be alone for a little bit, because once weentered the room I saw it as Jeremiah Johnson, Dwayne Robinson, NickRobertson, and Chris Walker quickly decided to move from the living roomdirectly into the cabin's kitchen.



I was told later on that week (while I was at school), that almost right whenJeremiah Johnson had entered into the cabin’s kitchen, he headed straight over to take a quick look inside of the refrigerator (my guess would be that he waslooking for a snack, or something to drink), and I was also told that after he stoodthere for a few minutes just holding open the refrigerator’s door, Jeremiah

suddenly shut the door kind of hard, and directly afterward just stood there in thatsame spot for a few moments without really making any kind of motion at all.Apparently, after a little while, Jeremiah suddenly gave off a really big sigh thatevery one of those that were inside of the kitchen could easily hear only to followit up by just heading over to go sit down at the table to talk to some of thekitchens occupants..

Once a few minutes had passed on by, I suddenly got up to walk from theliving room into the cabins foyer just to go back again, and when I returned Ifound that I could hear into the kitchen itself where it sounded kind of apparent tome that Chris Walker was probably making it kind of clear to Jeremiah Johnsonthat she wanted the room in the cabin's barn all to herself tonight (which was I

figured that Jeremiah would probably go to the hall closet first, because that iswhere he most likely figured would where my uncle John would put anything thathe would need as far as bed garments go), and even right before we had gotteninto the cabin itself, Jeremiah had already whispered to me that it was most likelya good possibility that he might end up sleeping on the sofa that is in the cabin'srecreation room for tonight.

Almost right after the two of them spent some time talking about what hadhappened to us, both Laura and I watched as Chris Walker suddenly walked (atwhat seemed to me to be a very fast pace) straight from inside the kitchen to goplop herself down onto the big sofa that was located in the living room (it was myguess, that Chris was most likely spending some quality time away from the

others as she was possibly thinking about where her sister just might be, andmaybe she also spend some time thinking about the current situation that Chriswas in at that particular moment).

When a couple minutes of her just sitting there had gone on by, ChrisWalker decided to suddenly stand straight up from the living room sofa, and Icould see it as Chris turned herself around so she was facing the door way thatled to the living room, and after a brief pause, so it appeared as though she wasgoing to walk straight out of the living room in order to head directly over towardsthe kitchen, (which she did not do, and instead she decided turn to come talk tome about hopefully going out to search for her sister, and also our friend Nick, asfast as any of us possibly could get to it).

After a bunch of moments of me having to really consider this requestwent on by, I finally came to the decision that I had to just let Chris know of thefacts as I could see them. I ended up having to tell her that most likely if StacyWalker has not returned to the cabin by the very next morning, well, Chris canmost likely be sure that they will do whatever is possible for them to do on thistrip, (although, I also did have to tell Chris, that she should not be very surprisedif there was some things that could not be done at all, even if she wanted them tobe done, after all, lat I checked none of us were really that skilled at tracking).



As soon as that was all said out loud, I watched as both Chris Walker, andsurprisingly also my girl Laura, immediately looked right over at me (which theyboth did with looks of complete frustration on their faces), and then a couplemoments after they had been staring at me hard, I suddenly felt that at least Ihad to say to Chris Walker, "Hey Chris, you know you probably do not need to

worry very much. After all, just like you, Stacy Walker is a very self reliant girl,and more then likely Stacy will make it home on her own, (and even if she stilldoes not show up, I bet she will be found as quickly as it is possible)."

Suddenly a few minutes later after I finished saying that, Chris Walker ended up nervously jumping a little right as soon as Jeremiah Johnson suddenlyspeaks up while he was standing right behind her (I did not really realize thatanyone could stand back there), and despite everything that was actually said byhim, it turned out that all Chris Walker actually heard him say was the simple factthat he has to kind of agree with what I has just said to her.

Christina quickly stood all the way up, and then she turned herself aroundto face Jeremiah Johnson until she was looking right into his eyes, and then right

before he was able to say anything more to her, Chris Walker suddenlyproceeded to lightly slap Jeremiah's right cheek. Then Chris Walker turnedaround so she was facing the direction that she apparently wanted to be in, andonce she was turned around to the correct point where she wanted to be, Chrisstormed (at a very angry pace) directly out of the cabins living room to move outof the front door, (I could only really guess that she wanted to go to the room thatwas on the second floor of the barn).

I watched as Jeremiah Johnson watched Chris leave the cabin (in fact, Iwatched him even flinch a little bit as soon as she almost slammed the front door when she closed it), and then only a few minutes after she was gone, he quicklyturned his head around in order to face me (right to the point where we were just

about staring directly into each others eyes).Then he quickly shrugged both of his shoulders, and at the same timewhile rubbing (kind of hard) on his left cheek, he said to me, "Well Sam. I guess Ishould have been more of a man for her, and tried harder to handle that situationwith Chris Walker just a little better then how I did it." At that precise moment, Iquickly made a gesture towards Jeremiah Johnson to have him come sit with meonto the bottom step of the stairway in the foyer of this cabin.

Right after I had made that motion, both of us went over to go sit on thestairway, and as soon as we were there we turned our heads so we were facingeach other. After that had been established, I finally just ending up saying toJeremiah, "J-Man, I have to guess that if you want to go fix things with ChrisWalker, then my man, you are just going to have to go out there, and talk to her face to face. My suggestion is that once you know that you have her fullattention, you probably should first re-assure her by complimenting her (as bestas you can), just what she needs to hear, so she will hopefully realize that you doactually care about her sister as much as she does, and then I would say to you,do your best to be a man to let her know that you really do want to help her outas much as you can. Now J-Man, so to put it more simply, go to her and be her friend (and my suggestion is that you hurry up to go as fast as you can)!"



A few seconds after I had finished saying all of that to him, JeremiahJohnson proceeded to quickly get up from the cabin's stairway to turn around,give my hand a fast shake, and then he turned back around so he was headeddirectly towards the front door of the cabin. Once it was clear that the front door was opened up wide enough, Jeremiah headed outside of the cabin as fast as it

was possible for him to do, (my guess, is that Jeremiah was probably headedright towards the direction of the barn, hopefully to go say the right things to ChrisWalker so she at least be feeling a little bit better). Besides those odd events thathad occurred earlier, there was nothing else unusual happening for the rest of that night.

Chapter 9



Extra TimeMonday Morning, October 15th, 1993

Now as soon as I woke up the next morning, I ended up hearing some oddnoises that were coming from a different room in the house, so after I spent aminute or two just listening to those noises, I ended up getting all the way out of bed in order to head down the stairs to go into the cabin's living room (to only endup seeing that those noises were both Dwayne Robinson, and JeremiahJohnson, who were just sitting on the same living room couch so they could both

just face one another to talk back and forth with each other, just as if they had nottalked to each other in a very long time).

As soon as I stepped into the living room, I immediately had to makemyself pause right inside the room, and after a couple more moments went on

by, I decided to go on with what I was doing by turning myself around to faceDwayne in order to say to him, "Well, good morning Dwayne, and I hope you arehaving a good morning as well, J-Man. I do have to say that I hope that both of you are having a nice time just chatting away with each other. I do have to makea slight request that the two of you quiet down a little bit while you are talking witheach other (and please remember that there are other people that are trying tosleep in this cabin)."

It was only a few more minutes after that, when the cabin's front door almost slammed open hard, and then we could see Chris Walker immediatelycome inside through the doorway (in fact, she was moving so fast that shealmost tripped over something while she was coming inside (although, I never

found out what that thing ever was), and from the way that she was moving, tome Chris Walker did not appear to be in a good mood this morning).Right as soon as Chris entered just a little ways through the front doorway,

the very first thing that she did was to stop directly in her tracks, (and then shesuddenly bent downward to grab ahold of her chest while Chris also had to catchher breath at the same time). Then a few seconds after that, Chris Walker lookedright up towards me, (and then once Chris saw that she my attention, she quicklyturned her head around to look the other teenagers that were also within thatroom at that moment), and as soon as Chris apparently realized that everybodythat was there was paying attention, she proceeded on to just end up saying,"Hello, you guys. I do hope that you all are having a good morning, (however, Ido have to say that, if you guys will come take a look at the cars outside, then itmight not actually remain to be such a good morning)."

Right at the moment that I knew that she was finished saying that to us, Iquickly rushed over to stand so I was looking directly into Chris Walker's eyes tosay to her, "Well hello to you to Chris. Now, please slow yourself down a little bit,and then please tell me just what is it that is going on outside." Soon after I hadsaid that, Chris just continued to look into my eyes, and then she just pointedtowards the same direction that led to the outside of the cabin (which I am betting



she decided to do possibly because she thought I was more likely to believe itwhen I saw it, and the scary thing was that she was correct).

When we had all proceeded on towards either the nearest window, or wehad gone all the way through the front door it was so we could see what ever itwas she was pointing at (in fact, by now all of us gotten to the point where when

we were all looking outside of the cabin, then the first thing that probably most of us saw was that the Mazda had what looked like a really big tree branch stickingout through it's front windshield, and also, we all could almost see that theMazda, with the Ford, had what looked like every one of those tires clearly slitopen so by now they were all completely flat).

Now, as soon as I saw these things, I shook my head while the othersaround me were gasp at the sight of what they were seeing, and I decided to sayout loud my thoughts which were, "Well, I guess who ever did that certainly hasno intention of letting us leave (and now I have to wonder just how I am going toafford new tires and buy a brand new windshield)."

A few more minutes after I had seen through one of the windows just

what had happened to my car went on by, I immediately turned around to rushtowards the outside of the cabin, and then after a few seconds of standingaround in frustration, I hurried back inside to try out the main phones that I knewwere inside (even though when I tried them out, I only ended up finding out thatthey were not working at all, so it certainly seemed to me to be odd as to why themain phone lines had possibly been tampered with, and yet, the electricity withinthis cabin seemed to be working just like it did before, which also said to me thatperhaps there was someone who was messing with us, after all, I planned to beon my way back home, but at the current moment I was not really sure on justhow we are going to get back there).

Right a few minutes after I was done doing that, I quickly turned around to

end up seeing that Dwayne Robinson, Jeremiah Johnson, and Chris Walker,were standing almost right behind me. So, after I saw the concerned looks upontheir faces, it was my decision to suddenly put down the phone that I washolding, and right after I could see that it was set completely back onto its hook, Idecided to look directly over towards the direction that I knew Dwayne wasstanding in.

As soon as I figured that he was listening to me (and I knew he was notletting his mind wonder), I suddenly chose to ask Dwayne, "Hey Dwayne, myman, I was kind of wondering, (and please note that I am only asking thisbecause I did not see her at all when I was upstairs, and before I came downhere, I did happen to notice that one of the bedroom windows was open reallywide (and I have to say that was sort of odd to me, seeing how I know that LauraDaniels easily gets really cold at night, sometimes even when she knows that thewindows are all closed), so with that being the case, I am really wondering, if you, or anyone else that you have talked to so far today, actually have seenLaura Daniels at all so far this day? Again, I am only asking about this, becauseso far during this morning as I have looked around a little bit while coming downto the living room, and yet, I did not remembering seeing her around."

Dwayne Robinson suddenly decided to pause for a moment in what he



was doing (which I am really hoping he did in order to think about what was justsaid to him for at least a minute, or two), and then just a few minutes later,Dwayne proceeded to just shake his head from side to side a couple times, and afew moments after that, the other teenagers that were standing around in thatroom started to also answer my question (even if I did ask them) either by

shaking their heads from side to side, or simply just saying no.A minute or two later on after all those who were in that room had stoppedproviding an answer to my question, Chris Walker suddenly looked around whileslightly shaking her head a little bit, and she made the decision to speak up to inorder to say, "Hey now, wait a minute you guys. I have to wonder if Laura Danielsis around here at all. I also do have to wonder if the reason that Laura is nowmissing is because she had something to do with either the dead phone and/or all of the messed up cars that are that are to be seen outside. Of course, it alsotrue that Laura might have disappeared before our cars were messed with. I cannot really make any type of judgement without knowing everything that evenhappened."

Immediately after she was done saying that, I found myself suddenlylooking straight down towards the ground which only led to me give off a kind of big sigh (which in truth, I do not have any type of explanation as to why I did this),and a few minutes after I let off that sigh, I ended up looking back up in order tosay directly towards Chris Walker, "Well, I do realize that it is probably kind of true that her sudden disappearance may be slightly mysterious to some people.However, I can say that (mostly because I am one of those that my entirerelationship with Laura Daniels has been close enough to know for sure), I wouldreally bet that there is not really any way that Laura could have possibly doneany of these events that we are seeing this morning, (although, I do tend towonder just a little bit how someone else could come up, and take her through

the bedroom window without waking me up at all)."As soon as I was finished saying all off that, I suddenly found myself making the decision to stop talking altogether, and after a few more minutes wentby, I was quickly surprised when Dwayne Robinson quickly looked right over inmy direction, and almost right as soon as Dwayne had done that, he proceededon to say to me, "Sam, those of us that know you well, know that the two of youwere very close indeed, (and probably some of us might even would go so far asto say that you really loved Laura Daniels with all your heart). However, after considering the events that have recently happened combined with her suddendisappearance, it can't really be ignored that Laura Daniels happened todisappear around the same time."

Now right after I had heard all of that, I ended up pausing to only bend myhead down to the floor (and right after I did this, I suddenly shook my head a littlebit). As the next couple of minutes went on by, the talk in the room was beginningto look very bad for Laura Daniels position, and then all of a sudden, JeremiahJohnson stood up from the chair he was sitting at in order to hush everyone else.Then we watched as he quickly walked over towards the living room couch inorder to bend down, and pick up what appeared to be a very slim object fromright between the living room couch cushions.



Right after he had stared down at the item for a few seconds, JeremiahJohnson decided to suddenly stand so he was standing all the way straight up,and right as soon as he knew that he had stood all the way up, Jeremiah startedmoving back through the room in the direction of the chair that he was in before(also he was walking with what appeared to me to appear like a look of curiosity

that was on his face).My only guess as to why Jeremiah suddenly had that look on his face wasbecause he had realized that he had found a slim, red cell phone which Jeremiahprobably also realized might be one of the only phones that was working, (andthen once I ended up being able to see the phone that was in his hand, I wasable to recognize the cell phone as one that looked a lot like it might of belongedto Laura Daniels). So, it was completely clear that once he had realized just whatit was that he had picked up (and who it probably belonged to), I ending upwatching as Jeremiah Johnson quickly stopped directly in his tracks, and lookedright up in my direction.

As soon as I could see that he was staring at me, I looked down into his

hand, and it definitely appeared to me that it was Laura Daniels cell phone. Withthat being the case, I decided to say in a rather loud tone (just in case, therewere still any of those teens that were actually listening to what I was saying atthat precise moment), "Well, I can't say exactly for sure as to just why LauraDaniels now appears to be missing, however, I do know that it is a certain factthat Laura was not the type of lady to voluntarily have left her cell phone, (or anyof her other stuff that she considered to be the most valuable), just laying aroundas she got up, (of course, I am saying that is if Laura did not leave this cabin onpurpose, and even she did leave on purpose, what the reason for doing thatwould be, even I do not really have a clue). What I do have a clue about is thefact that for her to not have kept track of where that phone was then she must

have been really exhausted."The very next thing that I did (after I was finished saying all of that) was towalk straight over until I was now at almost the exact same place that JeremiahJohnson happened to currently be standing at, and right as soon as I saw that Iwas now currently standing directly in front of Jeremiah, I promptly reached over to end up taking a hold of that cell phone, (and at the same time, I was alsohoping that I could remember the current phone number that was needed inorder to get in direct contact with my uncle John, although, if that did not work,well, I suppose that I might end up calling back at my home, for if I can not getahold of my uncle then my parents will most likely come get me).

Right after I quickly realized that I did remember my uncles number, Idecided to quickly look back up to say to Jeremiah, "Hey J-Man, pleaseunderstand that you certainly do have my apologies if what I just did was kind of rude to you (in any way, shape, or form). As soon as I saw that was Laura's cellphone, I suddenly decided to come right over here, and grab it directly from your hands (which I only did because suddenly I had a idea on just how to at leastattempt to get us home from this place). So once again, I really do feel that Ihave to say to you that I am truly very sorry about what happened (I amespecially feeling very bad for not asking you first place)! I certainly would



understand it, if you make the decision that you did not want to accept thisapology (in any way, shape, or form)."

When a few more seconds had passed after I had finished saying all of that to him, Jeremiah Johnson only just waved his left hand from one side to theother directly in front of my face, (my guess was that it was to say that happened

was really was no big deal at all, or at least I that was what it meant). So after amoment or two, I bowed my head downward to peer closely what might havebeen on the cell's main screen, and right when I looked for a few seconds, I wasable to see that not only did the cell phone actually still have half of its power inthe phone battery, it also looked to me like it also has enough signal bars on thescreen itself (which was good enough in order to show me that I might be able touse it to make a call, or two). Of course, I found that this was really amazing,because of the obvious fact, that we were inside of a cabin that was somewhereclose to the very top of the Cascade Mountains.

Now as this was happening, I was later told that Jeremiah Johnson couldbe seen watching me with a look of complete astonishment that was set upon his

face, and right when he was able to see that I was busy talking away onto thatphone (inside of the cabin's Recreation room), that a few moments afterwards,Jeremiah Johnson quickly turned around to face Dwayne Robinson in order tosay to him, "Dwayne, I do feel that I have to tell someone the real truth which is,that at first I was kind of thinking his actions were slightly rude, although I dohave to admit that as soon as Sam apologized like that for what he had did, I waskind of feeling too amazed to really care about his previous actions towards me."

Once a few more minutes had gone by, I could be seen quickly walkingback into the living room of my uncle John's cabin. This is where I went because Iknew that the others were most likely there as well, and also I did this, only to letthem know that even though my uncle was not there, so I just left a quick

message on his machine. So, those that heard me know that I do not knowexactly for sure when help will end up coming to this cabin, and I followed thisstatement by inviting the rest of the teenagers that were there inside that room tocome join me into the cabin's kitchen for some breakfast.



Interlude 3

A Surprise For Laura



As soon as Laura Daniels was able to wake up that morning, Laurafigured out that she actually had to blink kind of slowly for a few times before shecould really see just where she was at (even though it still seemed that Laurawas only able to see through one eye at a time, and the truth was that she did

not really feel like opening her eyes at all). Only right as soon as as she was ableto look through both of her eyes, Laura figured out that one of her very firstthoughts was that she really wished that she could really open both of my eyes atthe very same time, (although, it occur to Laura that if she could finally just beable to open both of them at the same time without any probable at all, then itwould possibly appear to be like there could a better room for her to be inside of,say for example, back in the cabin).

So right as soon as Laura Daniels finally figured out just how she couldopen her eyes enough to just plainly keep them open, (which actually turned outto end up taking a couple more minutes then she thought it would be), Laura wasfinally able to figure out just how she was able to perform the action that she

most wanted to do, (even though directly afterwards, all she just had to do was toblink for a few times to open up both of her eyes to really be to see everythingthat she could see in that room, and be able to keep her eyes open no matter what happened).

When it was said to be directly afterwards, it was actually up to a couplemore minutes later on that Laura Daniels finally came to the decision that if shewas really wanted to know just how well she actually was able to see, so Lauradecided that first things first, she had to close both of her eyes at the very sametime, and then while she was also decided to open up both of her eyes at thevery same time, (and this time, the action was done in such a way that once shewas able to open up both of her eyes, it seemed to Laura that it was just wide

enough so that she could actually see of the fact that she had put inside whatlooked to her like a very dirty, and also kind of dark, room that might have beenunderground). Although, just exactly where this gloomy room was really locatedat, even Laura Daniels had to admit the fact that she did not really know for sure.Of course, there is the question of how in the world, could she know this fact,(especially since, the very last thing that she even remembers is going to sleepinside of the cabin bedroom).

So right after Laura finally stopped trying to figure out just where thisdismal location might be, she made herself pause for a few more moments, andthen she started to attempt to do her best to go about the process of movingaround as much as was possible for her to do. Mostly this consisted of Laura

trying to wiggle both of her arms, and her legs, around for a little, (and this waspossibly done just for her to figure out exactly how much movement she actuallyhad, even with those tight cords that where apparently tied around both her body,and the chair that she was sitting in).

So, after she spent a minute or two attempting to move around as muchas she could, Laura finally settled down a bit once she manage to realize the factwas, that her only real ability to move around was mainly by turning her headback and forth (if she just wanted to look around some more, and she also was



apparently able to move her eyes around). With that being the main factconsidering her movement limitations, she decided to turn her head in a quick arcto proceed with scanning the entire room that it seemed that she was stuckinside of.

While Laura was in the process of moving her head back and forth a

couple of times in order to scan the room (which looked even more dismal to her as she was looking about), Laura was able to find out that she was clearly able tosee that her good friend, Nick Robertson, appeared to be hanging on whatappeared to be rusty hook of some kind, and it seemed to appear like he was notconscious at all (although it was also clear that his face was ashen with just asingle stream of what looked like brown blood running down the left side of hisface).

Also nearby in that room (and for some reason laying on the floor), Laurawas even barely able to see what appear a lot like her friend Stacy Walker (whohappened to appear to be tied up on to a chair that did not look any different thanthe one that Laura was tied to). Although, she had to admit that even though she

could see that it really did look like Stacy Walker, also it seemed that Stacy couldbe unconscious (because there was really any movement), and the odd thingwas that as hard as tried to look, Laura could not really see either one of her arms at all (or the persons face, which would helpful to see in order to correctlyknow for sure who it was).

Because of where she was, Laura was able to see that Stacy appeared tobe lying almost in the middle of what seemed to be a kind of large pool of a verydark brown liquid (a liquid that did not really appear any different that what wasseen on Nick), and from the cloth running around the head it might have alsobeen that the person's mouth was gagged almost in the same way that Laurawas.

Out of what was sudden desperation (and even though Laura Daniels waspretty sure whether it was Stacy Walker, or not, the person probably could notreally answer her), Laura tried what was her very best to make an honest (andsort of loud considering the situation that she was in) attempt to call out to theperson who Laura was hoping was Stacy Walker indeed.

Then when a few more minutes had passed on by, Laura finally decided tostop trying to call out through her gag (after all, if it really was the type of gag thatthe other person had then in reality that person might not be able to hear LauraDaniels anyway), and as soon as she realized that was most likely the fact, Lauraproceeded to close both of her eyes while at the very same time humbly bowingher head just like she knew that another person would do in order to make anhonest prayer to God when they are asking for help from the holy Lord.

Just what seemed to be only a few minutes later on (actually, it wasalmost right when she had finished her prayer), Laura Daniels suddenly endedup opening up her eyes to hear what sounded like a very low, (and in a way, kindof rough sounding) voice speak up in order to say (in a direction that sounded

just about directly behind her), "My, my, my. It seems that what we have herecould actually be a lost, little Christian girl here with us right now. Do not fretbecause you will be taken care of (although, perhaps if you ever get to leave you



should take more care about your things)." Right after this was said to her, Lauragot to watch as her silver cross necklace (with the initials LD were engravedupon it ), and the way that it was being held up, Laura's necklace was alsocombined with what appeared to be her rosary (that in reality, she had actuallyattained only recently).

After a few more minutes had gone on by, a figure that was extremelydark colored (as a matter of a fact, he seemed so dark colored that anyone whowas really looking, could say the darkness was almost deep enough to be thecolor Jet Black) had suddenly appeared right out of nowhere to quickly turn thechair Laura was in around, (which was apparently done so she could go taking abetter look at Nick Robertson). Suddenly, right as soon as Laura really viewedher friend, she suddenly started to cry to a point where it seemed like she wasalmost pouring a river from her eyes, that same dark figure suddenly turnedaround to stare right towards her (in reality, the only thing she could see was theeyes of that figure).

Then after a few more moments had gone on by, Laura Daniels suddenly

could hear that same deep, rough voice speak up one more as it was saying toher, "Now you can just rest easy there little lady, in fact you might as well stop allthat crying, and moaning. Because the truth is, none of it is really going to helpyou get out of the situation that you are in right now, (as a matter of fact, I kind of find that your emotions are actually sort of annoying to me as well, so please juststop)."

Just after that dark figure was done saying all of that to her, it could beclearly seen by Laura Daniels that the dark figure that spoken before now wasquickly walking over to yet another section of this miserable room. Laura did notreally think anything about until it was clear to her that same figure was intendingto continue moving on until he, or she, was a point that was directly behind Laura

Daniels once more.After the dark figure had reached right where ever he, or she, (there was aslight thought by Laura that in reality she had never really ever heard a womantalk that low and rough) was intending to get to within the room, then Laura couldalmost feel it as that same figure had quickly bent down in such a way that wasapparently to reach around Laura’s neck, and the figure quickly made a motionwith both of his hands just like he was going to force her chin upwards, and thenhe was going to slit her throat (even though his hands were clearly empty at thatprecise point).

After the next few moments went by, with out Laura Daniels fully reallyknowing what was going on, the dark figure had suddenly made the decision tostop everything that he was currently doing, stand up in such a quick manner sothat figure was standing straight upwards (but also seeming like he was suddenlykind of drowsy), and after some more seconds had gone on by, Laura could seeas the figure was walking back around to another part of the room. As soon as hewas completely within her viewing range, the next thing that she saw this figuredo was to walk over to what actually looked sort of like an old, rusty refrigerator (that was actually standing over towards a far corner of this room).

Then as soon as that figure had reached the point were he was standing



right in front of that rusty refrigerator, he quickly stopped in his tracks, turned tohis right side, and then after a few more moments, the figure decided to suddenlyreach over to open up the door to that old refrigerator (just wide enough for LauraDaniels to see what was inside of that room's refrigerator).

When the refrigerators door was open wide enough so Laura Daniels was

finally able to see just what the contents were that refrigerator had within it, thevery sight of what was in the refrigerator ended up causing her to beginscreaming, (well, in reality Laura did as much screaming as she was able to doconsidering how tight her gag was around her head and in her mouth). So to tellyou the truth, the sound of it might not have been very loud at all.

Just a few moments after she had started, Laura quickly noticed it as thehorrible figure had turned around once more to face her (apparently, this wasprobably because that dark figure had heard her attempting to scream), so at thatpoint Laura could tell that the dark figure actually had turned far enough aroundso that it had occurred to her that the dark figure probably had clearly seen thatshe was attempting to view even farther inside of that open refrigerator.

So just a few seconds later, with out any kind of warning that very samedark figure suddenly started to produce what sounded to Laura like a very, veryevil laugh that could really be heard from anywhere inside that dirty room (intruth, Laura had to admit that she had heard anyone else laugh like that unlessthey were a fictional character on a movie that she had seen). Laura suddenlypaused for only a couple of brief moments, and then after that final moment hadgone on by, Laura Daniels tried one more time to attempt to scream at whatseemed to be at what sounded this time like it was at the very top of the lungsthat she had within her.

Just as soon as a couple more minutes (that consisted mainly of anybodywho was listening hearing Laura Daniels attempting to scream through that gag

that was on her) went on by, that dark figure suddenly walked straight over towards where she was tied up at within the room.Then once the figure had reached the place that held Laura Daniels (who

was also a dark person who seemed to be a very sick person indeed, who wasreally kind of twisted in his own horrible way), that dark person quickly pickedLaura straight up from where ever she was at (chair and all, so whoever thisperson actually was, it had to be someone who was very strong indeed),apparently so after a few moments of just staring at her, he could proceed tocarry her quickly over towards what appeared to be a nearby set of dark browncolored stairs (actually even those stairs looked kind of old).

Now, as this dark figure that had control over Laura Daniels appeared toapparently be in the procedure of going on up those old wooden stairs until thetop step was reached, and then that same dark person went about the process of pushing open both of the wooden trapdoors that Laura could see where closedbefore.

Just as soon as the villain had completed opening up both of the doors(which must have been a heavy job, because in order to get them all the wayopen, Laura had to be carefully set down so that dark person could push themopen one at a time). As soon as both those doors were open, the dark figure



hurried back inside to pick Laura up one more time, and then the same personturned back towards the outside where Laura was taken.

As soon as Laura was finally brought all the way outside, the mysteriousfigure carried her over to be put inside of what looked to Laura Daniels) like itwas a very dirty looking, old faded blue van (with, from what she saw, had a very

cracked, front windshield on it, and a couple of the doors appeared like they werescratched up a little bit).Right before Laura was put all the way inside of the van, she could also

see that there was a bunch of big branches that were laying on the ground agood distance away from that van itself, (and also, just before she was placed far enough inside of that van to not be able to see anything at all, to Laura this vanwas on the very same trail that the group of teenagers had seen fork off from themain trail that they had traveled upon). Laura just figured that those brancheswere what might have been covering up the wooden trap doors that she wentthrough.

Chapter 10

Time to LeaveMonday, October 15th, 1993



Now if there was some who peered from the far side of the main drivewaytowards the outside of my uncles cabin, probably one of the first things thatanyone might be able to see would be the front of my uncle’s cabin (along withpossibly being able to see some of one of the sides. So, if any that were lookingdecided to slowly come closer to the cabin, that view may even move forward

enough to see into one of the windows, and perhaps it would be the one where itcould easily be seen that I was once more casually leaning up against one of thekitchen counters, with yet another half-full glass of orange juice resting in the gripof one of my hands, and the rest of the remaining teenagers were all just weresitting around at the kitchen table with a bunch dirty dishes sitting in front of themand some where even staring up at me).

Also, to anyone who was looking inside of the cabin windows (although inreality I don't have a clue as to they would want to), it could be seen that therehappened to be a slightly big pile of suitcases, and even a few bags, that hadbeen piled onto a single spot that was within the front foyer of my uncle’s cabin.Then a few more moments after that pile was probably seen, the one and only

person that could really be heard talking out loud, was in reality myself (who, atthis very moment, was kind of busy talking towards all of the other teenagers thatwere within earshot of me).

At one point when I first started to talk, I started by first rubbing two of myfingers back and forth on the skin that was located on my forehead, (and this wasalso combined with what probably looked like a very frustrated look that was alsoon my face) and then I decided to say, "Alright you guys, lately I have reallystarted to wonder to myself, just what are we going to do now? I mean, first, twoof our school buddies, Nick Robertson and Stacy Walker, suddenly disappear onus at the same time that we are all out exploring a mysterious trail going into theforest, and now, so far during this day, we can't seem to find my girl Laura

Daniels inside of this cabin.So, even if any of those that are still here for sure, are able to make it outof this place without any problems coming to our bodies, we will all still bereturning three teenagers shorter then when we left in the very first place, (and allyou guys probably know, that it is most likely that the families of those missingteens will be kind of concerned about their children, and will probably want toknow just what happened to those kids). So, at some point we are all going tohave to take a few moments to figure just what it is we will (if we are asked aboutwhat happened up here, and what happened to all of those who apparently notreturning with us)."

Right as soon as I was finished saying all of that (with tears flowing frommy eyes as I finished speaking), Jeremiah Johnson decided to wait just a fewmore seconds before he quickly stood straight upwards from the seat where hewas currently sitting at, only to then make himself rush over to the very spotwhere I was at so he could first reach out to hold onto my shoulders (as hestared directly into my eyes for a couple more moments), and then he suddenlydecided to give me a great, big, bear hug (which my guess was to show hiscompassion towards me). Actually, I do feel that I must admit that hug sort of surprised me a little bit, because that was something that I did not really expect



to come from Jeremiah at all.Once Jeremiah Johnson had held for a few moments in that hug, he

quickly followed that hug by standing back a few feet (which personally I do havesay that I was glad for because I certainly had to catch my breath), and then J-Man proceeded on to say directly to me, "Sam Thompson! Calm down, my good

man. First off, please remember that Nick Robertson has had Eagle Scouttraining (and he is pretty tough If I don't say so myself) so he is most likely doingfine. Also, we can pretty that Stacy Walker probably will do everything she canthink of to get back to her sisters side, and I am sure that if God wants LauraDaniels to return to your side, then don’t worry because I am sure that the Lordwill make so she will return! Also as far as we go, I am sure God will havesomething great suddenly happen so we can go home to Republic (and hopefullywe will not have any problems waiting for us there), which we might not evenhave any problems at all, and even if we do, then let us all just remember the factthat no matter what the situation is, the Lord will never let us fall from his grace(although if something ever does happen that we do not want, we just have to

also remember that everything is going according to the plan of the Lord, whether any of us agree with what ever happened)."Right when Jeremiah Johnson had finished saying all of that, suddenly the

noise of a engine could be heard coming from behind me, and so I turned myhead around to the right in order to look outside, just in time to see a rusty, (andin my view, kind of old looking), off blue colored Ford car driving its way up to thecabin.

After a few moments, those of us who saw it watched as it suddenlystopped just before it appeared to me like it is going to hit the other vehicles thatwere out there even though, it still was almost directly in front of the cabin), andwhoever was driving that car suddenly honked the horn for a couple of times

(which every time the horn it was sounding kind of loud, well, it did to me atleast).After the horn had sounded for a couple times, suddenly that group of

teenagers suddenly started to rush around to various parts of the cabin, (andwhile they were moving about so quickly the teens some times ended up pushingeach other around), my guess was because they might have been in hurry to getout of the cabin so they could just be back in their own homes. When some of those teens had finally managed to get outside of the cabin, the drivers side door of the Ford opened up (if act it open sort faster, and harder, than I have wouldhave guessed it would), and it was my uncle John Thompson who was gettingout of the car to come greet those that were staying there, (as well as to offer them all a ride back to Republic).

Right after I had said to the teenagers that were there that this was myUncle John, my uncle turned around to what was his left side, and then hewalked right around the cars trunk to unlock it so it would open up wide enoughto receive any of the luggage that needed to be put inside. A few more secondswent on by, and then two of the male teenagers, (which in this case was actuallyboth Jeremiah Johnson and I) decided to quickly turn around to run back insideto grab a hold of some of those bags that was just sitting on the floor.



Later during that same day I was told, that only a few moments after Jeremiah Johnson and I had gone inside to get some of that luggage, the rest of the teenagers began following the two of us back into the cabin, (and apparently,the main reason that they did this was because that those teens had intended tohelp grab some of the luggage that was in there, oh what decent teens, although

those that helped might have also been in a rush to leave). This went on for afew more minutes as the teens continued to busy themselves by just walkingback and forth from the cabin to my uncle's car, (and repeatedly this lasted untilall of the available luggage had all been loaded into the car's spacious trunk, or ina few cases, in the back seat).

After a few moments of me making sure that all of the current luggage thathad been loaded up was in a manner that was correctly fitting for the trunk, (andthen I had to make sure that the trunk was closed all the way shut so I couldproperly lock it up, and yes I did realize that I was also being watched by myuncle, only it probably was so he knew that I was doing it correctly), then myuncle, and all of the remaining teenagers proceeded to get inside of the Ford

(which they managed to all fit with only a few tight squeezes in the back seat).At this point we all to briefly wait as my uncle John had to make sure thathe knew for a certain fact that all the car doors were shut completely, andeveryone of us had our seat belts buckled all the way. As soon as he realizedthat was the case, all I had to do was hand him back his set of keys so my uncleJohn would be able to get his car started. Only as soon as it had been revving for a couple of minutes, I noticed as uncle John suddenly paused in what he wasdoing for a moment, after which he quickly turned his head around a little bit, (myguess was this was probably so uncle John would know that he was able to backup a little bit in whatever direction he meant to head towards).

Once he had backed toward the left a little, then I could see that my uncle

was able to quickly shift gears so he could turn around so he could then drive onforward to a direction that was moving away from that cabin, and back to our hometown (although, I have to say that even the Ford we were in might havebeen old enough to almost call it a classic, well, lets just say it was really clear that my uncle John needed to get some new shocks for this car, and I noticedthat one of my friends appeared like it those bumpy movements from the roadwere making it look as if she was sick, but nothing really happened).

When we were only a little ways away from the cabin, suddenly my uncleJohn pulled his car over to the side of the road, and after he looked aroundenough so he could easily see that the car was not in the road, uncle John turnedhis head around enough so he could inform me, (and all of the rest that werewithin that car), "The main reason that I stopped was just to let you guys know,that none of you really need worry yourselves about anything that might of gonewrong within the cabin itself, because as soon as I get back up to it, then I willdeal with it."

At that point, uncle John looked down for a few moments, and prettyquickly, he looked up to add, "Oh yes, also if what I was told over the phone iscorrect, then there is some of you guys that went up to my cabin on Friday, andnow some of you teens are missing somewhere up in these mountains. Any of



you that are here, and at least sort of are worried about those teens, please relaxa little bit as you can be sure to know of the fact that as soon as I can I will takecare of it to the best of my ability. As a matter of fact (although I will only havethis done if it is really needed), I might even have some of the local WashingtonState forestry people that around my cabin search the Cascade forest for any of

those missing teenagers."Right at the very moment after he was sounding like for now he wasfinished talking, I quickly turned my upper body around as much as I needed toso I knew that I was directly facing my uncle, and right as soon as I was sure thatI had my uncle's full attention, I quickly said to him, "Uncle John, all of us herehave to thank you so much for every thing that you have already done for us,(and also I feel that I should say thanks to you for every thing that you willprobably end up doing for us). In truth, I really don't now how I was so blessed tohave such a great relative such as you. After all, you always seem to be there tohelp me when I absolutely need it (and I do not really feel that I deserve anythingthat you have provided, or will provide)."

My uncle John only proceeded to respond to what I had said to him by justgiving me a really big smile (which was almost as big as one of my own smiles),and after he had smiled for a moment, my uncle decided to turn back around tolook at the road, (and the direction that we were heading in). Once a few minuteshad passed after he had turned around to look forward, Uncle John suddenlyreached over to start his car back up (which I was personally surprised that hehad not done earlier), and then my uncle continued to drive onwards to drop usoff in Republic.



Chapter 11

Conclusion??

Monday Night, December 15th, 1993

As now we come upon this story's end (?), I sighed in relief when my uncleJohn, the rest of the other teenagers, and I finally arrived back at our hometownof Republic, (and once we entered into the city limits, my uncle John apparentlymade the decision to just drop us all off together at what was this city's towncenter).

As soon as it was most likely pretty clear to my uncle that almost all of usteens had completely exited his car, without warning my uncle John suddenlyreached far over to his right side in order to grab ahold of my left sleeve before Ihad completely left the vehicle, (I am guessing that this was done so he knew for sure that he had received my full attention, and I am also taking a guess that hemust have waited right until I was just about the last one that was exiting from thevehicle).

Probably right when he knew for sure that I was definitely listening to him,uncle John suddenly decided to say to me, "Sam, could you please do me areally big favor, and just hold up for a minute or two for me? Right before we allfinally arrived into this town, I felt the need to let at least you know that the last



time the family was together at that cabin, I had received a sudden phone callthat ended up telling me that I should be aware about the fact that your UncleGeorge had recently been seen in various spots among those same mountains,and I was also given a warning that George currently has a bunch of warrantsthat are out there for his immediate arrest. Personally, I hope he does not have

anything to do with your friends disappearances."At the very moment after he had said that to me, my uncle paused for acouple more seconds, and then my uncle continued on by also saying to me,"Now, I do realize the fact that none of the teens that are missing could be in hispossession, but on the slight chance that they are in his slimy grasps, then itmight be a good idea that you don't expect to see them at any time. Now, here isthe key to the trunk of this car (just so you guys can get your luggage), andplease, don't forget to lock it back up when you are done. Also, as far as your vehicles at my cabin go, what I will do to take care of them is that I will call in afew more favors, in order to get them repaired so both of those cars can bereturned to you ASAP and in great condition."

Right as soon as that was all said to me, I quickly leaned over to my uncleto give him a great big hug to once more show him my appreciation for everything that he has done for me. After I was done giving him a hug, I quicklyfollowed with finishing my exit out of the car, and once I was sure that I wascompletely out of the car, slowly I ended up closing my uncle John’s car door.Now, (I am guessing that this was done because I had actually taken a littlelonger time leaving the car then the other teenagers) once I had exited thevehicle, Jeremiah quickly walked up to me to ask me if there was anything wrongthat the rest of them should know about.

I just turned until I could make sure that I was facing Jeremiah's eyes inorder to say to him, "Nope J-Man, there is nothing wrong at all. Now, let us hurry

up, and finish getting our luggage out of the car so my uncle can leave." After itpretty clear that all of the luggage had been removed, and I had closed the trunk(so it was locked enough so it will stay closed), I simply walked over to wavegood-bye to my uncle.

After I spent a couple minutes watching my uncle drive away, I quicklyturned around to the other teens in order to say, "Now, so we can settle down alittle bit (and maybe talk for a while), it is my suggestion that we all go over to myhouse to at least get something to eat. After all, it's really only a couple of blocksaway from here, and the walk should be kind of short."

Later on, I was told by my girl Laura that the old dirty blue van that Laurawas set in, pulled to a stop into a some sort of parking stop (that seemed to bekind of bumpy to Laura as the van slowed down). A few moments after itstopped, that same large, dark figure from before turned around, exited the frontsection of the vehicle, then pulled open up the back doors of the van itself whichwas enough for Laura Daniels to at least see that she was now in some sort of park.

That person reached inside, and then pulled Laura so that she ended upmoving outside the van itself. Right as soon as she gotten outside of the van,Laura was able to notice that there was a bunch of loose gravel on the ground



close to where she had been placed when that dark figure brought her out of thevan, (and she also said that after a couple seconds, she knew just to do).

So, the first thing Laura said to me that she did was look up to make surethat her captor was not really watching her at that moment, and then a secondslater, she proceeded to kick a bunch of that loose gravel so it went even farther

underneath the van, (and Laura said that it sounded like it came from the other side of the van).As soon as that dark person had rushed over to go see just what had

caused all that noise, Laura managed to quickly get herself out of the bonds thatwere on her wrists, and legs, just enough so she could move mare freely about.As soon as Laura was soon as was free enough, she got up and ran as fast asshe could into the nearby forest (meanwhile, she was also pulling the tape off of her face so she could remove the cloth gag that was in her mouth.

Now, let us get back over to Republic to now see that the other teenagers,and I, were just sitting around at my Tri-level home, eating some food, whiletalking and laughing with each other. At the same time that we were all just sitting

around on the living room furniture, we were also laughing at a joke (that in mymind did seem sort of dumb) Dwayne Robinson had just told them.When a few more minutes went by, suddenly out of the blue my front

doorbell could be heard ringing (and I can say that I did know for sure that myfolks were not due to be home until a couple of hours from now, and as far as Iknow no one ordered anything, so actually I had no real idea who it might havebeen at the door).

Almost right as soon as the doorbell went off for the second time, I stoodstraight up from my seat on that living room couch, and then at a quick pace, Iwalked over to open up the front door (personally, I really did not feel likelistening to that bell ring again). When the door was open wide enough so I could

look out to see who it was, who was it that was actually standing there, but noneother then Laura Daniels herself (who at least my opinion, was also very dirty,which I have to say is not like Laura Daniels at all, and it was also clear to methat she was incredibly tired, both her jeans and her shirt were torn open, andLaura had a big scratch on her left hand, which looked pretty nasty to me).

A few after I saw that it was Laura Daniels that was outside of my door,one of my first actions was to make a sudden gasp at what I was seeing, andthen I proceeded to quickly ask her, "Laura, honey, it is wonderful to see you.Although, I have to ask, what in the world has happened to you? Where have youbeen?"

In a very slow manner, Laura raised her head up to look directly intoSam's eyes, and once knew that she was fully within her man's attention, shetook a couple of deep breaths, and afterwards Laura was barely able to say tohim, "Hello Sam. It is great to see you as well (especially considering where Ihave been). You know what, I will be sure to answer all of your questions thatyou might have. However first things first, I need to come on inside, and at leastcatch my breath!"

A few quick moments after she finished saying this to me, Laura quicklyforced herself into my house (as soon as she came in, Laura was almost pushing



me aside as she came in the door). Soon as I knew for a fact that she hadentered all the way into my house, I quickly shut the front door to my home, andthen I paused for a moment, then I quickly whirled around in order to actuallytake a good look at Laura Daniels (only this was done to end up seeing that shewas currently on one knee with her back right up against the nearest wall, in truth

I was slightly surprised to see that she was nearby after how much she was in ahurry to come inside).Some more moments passed on by, and then Laura Daniels was

suddenly looking straight up at me. This was soon to be followed by her standingstraight up while at the very same time she was smiling directly at me, and thenLaura proceeded to say to me, "Thank you so much for all the kindness that youhave shown me, Sam. Now, as far as what have I been doing out there, well...notto long before I came here, I have been running through a nearby forest (actuallyI fell a couple of times but I was able to get right back up), and I ended uprunning through these very streets, and I luckily managed to stop right in front of your house (I stopped because I needed to catch my breath). Just so you know,

the reason that I was running so hard was because I knew that there wassomeone chasing me, and I knew that someone who was chasing me was mostlikely was the same one who had previously whisked me away, and taken me asa hostage (most likely to defile me, and kill me). Personally, I don't think Godintended for me to rejoin him in the way that dark person wanted, because I wasbrought your way, (and as far as the of the rest of details go, I will tell you later onas to what I know had happened)."

Now of course, right when it appeared to me that she had finishedspeaking, I found myself quickly rushing over from the door to the place whereshe was currently kneeling at (to me, it was also clear that she was trying to dothe best that she could do in order to stand up), and once I was close enough to

her, I pushed forth both of my arms so they would all the way around her (inorder to give her a great big bear hug, hopefully to show Laura how much I reallylove her). After a few more minutes had passed on by, I finally let go in order tolook directly at Laura so I could ask her, "Laura, please tell me, do you know justwho that person actually was that was chasing you, (or do you have any idea asto why you were being chased at all)?"

Laura took a couple moments to just stare at me, then she decided to givea big sigh, and then a couple more moments after she was done doing all that,she proceeded to say to me, "Actually, the only answer that I have to both of those questions that you just asked me would be a big fat, No, I do not know.Although, off and on I was thinking that it did seem kind of odd to me just howthat person in some way managed to keep a deep darkness around him thatmanaged to make it very hard to see who that person really was (although, I dohave to admit there was something about that particular darkness that seemed tonot be very normal, and I have to say that at least to me, even the way that hetalked seemed a little like that journal entry that you had the J-Man read to us)."

Right when it was clear enough to her that I was still paying directattention to she was saying, Laura Daniels proceeded to add to what she hadbeen saying with this statement, "Now as far as where have I been goes, well, to



be completely honest to you, I am not exactly sure where the location was,(although, I have to admit that some parts of the location did seem familiar to me,so, maybe I just need some time to remember). However, what I do know for afact, is that on Sunday night, I fell asleep right at your side, and a little while later,I ended up waking into a dark dirty room, then after some time I was moved to a

dirty, blue van by a mysterious (and dark) figure. After there was some timespent driving, I finally was able to get out of the van into some park that Iguessed was nearby to wherever I was, and then after some quick thinking, Imanaged to be able to trick that person in a way so I was able to run through anearby dense field in order to head right into Republic."

Just after the moment had passed by when Laura had finished saying thisto me, I watched as Jeremiah Johnson could suddenly be seen walking directlyup to the two of us in order to suddenly say to us, "Well, well, well. If it is notLaura Daniels, who has suddenly come into Sam Thompson's home. You knowwhat Laura, I hope that I do not sound egotistical to you or Sam, however itseems that I was actually kind of right in what I was saying about how God would

most likely lead you back to Sam Thompson. After all, one has to remember thathe is the one and only true God, so to him such actions such as guidance of thelost, and blind, just have to be as easy, and very simple, just as a breath easilyblows in the wind."

Chapter 1

Beginning Messages

Monday December 22nd, 1993

Well, hello there. I must say please, do not be alarmed in any way; after all, this isonly Jeremiah Johnson that is talking you readers out there, (or if any of you would rather

to just keep my name more simple to say, J-Man, like my buddies from school call me,

will do just fine). I know that for most of the story so far, it has been Sam Thompson whowas the one who has gotten the privilege of telling it to you (with possibly just a few

interludes, so yes this part may have one or two interludes, and a some final comments at

the end). So now, I am to guess that it is my turn to be holy blest to be able to do my very best to entertain all of you readers out there, (or at least, I will try to do my best, so for



whatever I might miss, I ask that may the Holy Spirit help me in any way that I need).

First, I really hope that all of you that are reading this, please do know of the

precise fact, that I certainly am hoping to the Lord that not one thing that I say here willend up really disturbing any of you out there. As a matter of a fact, I really do hope that

those who are reading what I say here are fully able to get a wonderful message from

these words that I say within these lines, hopefully will almost get one as easily as a breath will blow in the wind, (and water will slide right off of most icy surfaces).

Now here we are, about just over a week has passed since our group has finally

returned from that interesting trip into the Cascade mountains, and so far as I know,nothing more that really bad (and unusual) has happened to any of us that managed to

come back from that awful place (at least, it is considered to be awful in my mind). Of

course, I am sure that the whole teenage group probably ended going through those

experiences so all of us could be tested by the Godhead in spiritual paradise, (although, personally I have to admit that it sure was a interesting way of testing us, if that was

certainly what it was).

As far as where each member of the group are at during this very moment, well,

what I do know is that Sam Thompson and I, are currently just chatting away with eachother as we walk down the main hall of the Republic high school, (and mostly I am just

having to listen to Sam chatter on and on about his girl, which seems to have been themain thing that has been on his mind for most of this last week). In fact, it certainly does

seem to me, that I remember that there have even been a couple of times during the last

week when I have heard Sam Thompson mumbled a little bit about the fact that he was

kind of wondering just who it was that took Laura Daniels in the first place (and he wasalso wondering how that person did it so quietly that it did even wake anyone up when it

happened). Now, I do have to admit that also I have slightly been wondering about that

little fact as well, (and to tell you the truth, I do not know just where the others arelocated at this precise moment).

What I do know for an absolute fact, is that in just a day or two (or maybe less, if

the high school administration change their minds), all of us high school kids will get tohave something for us to look forward to, as every one of us get to have some time off for

the Christmas/New Years winter vacation, (and actually, it might be good for our

teachers to get at least somewhat of a break from us kids). So to me, it is really nowonder that right now Sam Thompson seems to be extremely happy, (and as far I can

guess, the other students are most likely to be feeling just about the same way as well).

Anyone else that this time off affects, well, let me just say that I hope that the Lord will

help them find some fun during all of this vacation. With that being the case, I guess wewill just have to take a slight pause in this part of the story; so a little break can be taken

from the dramas of the characters, (oh don't worry yourselves, we will come back to this

part of this story).As far as what I know about the rest of this day goes, well, I do have to say that

(at least, in my opinion) this day was mostly lacking of any interesting events that was

not unlike everything boring that happens on a school day, (with perhaps the exception of that moment, when right after school suddenly my cell phone rang, but right after I had

managed to answer it, whoever it was that was on the other line just hung up at the sound

of my voice, and a little while later, Sam Thompson called just to ask me if I had called

him, which I had not done at all). Oh well, I know that some times these odd things can



happen, (besides these phone calls were probably just some people who had the wrong

numbers).

Chapter 2

An Odd Return

Wednesday January 8th, 1994

Well, hello everybody, now did you all get to enjoy that little break? I really hopeso, as a matter of a fact, I am willing to bet that a lot of the kids that are coming back

from this vacation probably are wishing that it has not even ended yet, but I know God

wants each one of his children to make ourselves better every day, (and my guess is that

most likely will not happen if we are just sitting around not really doing anything exceptstuff like only watching television, talking to each other on our phones, and only playing

video games). Another thing I should probably say is the fact that (now, I am only saying

this just in case there are some who are wondering about who it is that happens to betelling what is going on), yes, this is definitely Jeremiah Johnson that has returned back

here to continue to narrate to you on the current story events.

One of the first unusual things that I know of that had happened, actually occurred

almost right as soon as we returned to our school (in my case it was coming back to, ugh,High school), and the only reason that I found out about it was because of the fact that it

happened when I was talking to Sam Thompson before the students had to go to their fist

classes of the day (this event also happened while Sam was getting his stuff from hislocker at school). What had occurred was that right when Sam Thompson opened up the

door of his high school locker, one of the first things that could be seen (at least by the

two of us) was an upside down, black colored star inside of a circle (I believe the paganscall it something like a devils star, or a pentagram) that was drawn in black on the inside



of the door itself (and knowing Sam as I do by now, he never would have willing defile

his own property, in fact, to my knowledge these past few days he has seemed more into

Christian faiths then into anything else).Well, after a few more moments had passed by, Sam quickly grabbed everything

that he needed for his classes, and then as I was watching, Sam shut the door to his locker

as fast as he could, (and fortunately, there was no one that had walked by us at any pointduring all that which had just transpired). At the next moment, Sam looked right over

towards me, and he quickly proceeded to have me promise to not tell anyone else on what

we saw that was on the inside of his locker door, (which was a promise I had no real problem giving to him, and I certainly had no intention on ever breaking this promise).

Mostly the rest of the day at school seemed to go by rather simply (with the

exception of a couple little things that happened during our lunch time). For most of

lunch went by likely it always has before when at one point, I was just sitting at a tablewith Dwayne Robinson, Sam Thompson, Laura Daniels, and Chris Walker, when I

noticed what looked to me like a really dark figure that seemed to be just standing out in

the middle of the high school parking lot (I only noticed this figure because at that point

during the day, the school parking lot was kind of bathed with a lot of sunlight, so at leastto me, the person kind of stood out, even though when I looked away for a moment and

then turned view back to the parking lot, that figure that I had seen was no longer there).Anyways, the other unusual thing that we ended up talking about (before we all

had to return to our classes) was the fact that those of us that were sitting there found out

that over the last couple of days, Laura Daniels had been receiving a couple of strange

phone calls. The first one was just the phone ringing a couple of times, but as soon asLaura had answered it, whoever was on the other end just hung up (so Laura basically

just figured that it was probably somebody pulling some silly prank, or possibly the other

person realized that they might have had the wrong number so they hung up when theyhad heard Laura's voice).

However, just a little while later on, Laura told us that she heard the phone ring

one more time, only this time when Laura answered it, there was some heavy breathingnoises (for only a few seconds), then a voice that was described to the rest of us as a

voice sounded very deep, and it was almost barely hearable, proceeding to suddenly say

to Laura, "You should know that I know where you are, you little Christian girl! So, don't bother to run and hide", and then the person on the other end just suddenly hung up the

phone that had been used for this call.

Laura told us that in truth, it did surprise her a little when whoever it was on the

other end just hung up the phone right before anything more could be said (so, Laura hadto tell us that at this time she was very nervous and having difficult time getting her

phone back onto the receiver). I simply just told her that she probably does not need to

worry (after all, it probably was just another prank caller because it is not a secret thatLaura Daniels has become a Christian sister, and also, she should not remain critical, or

pass any type of judgment, because that job belongs to the Holy Father and his son, and

besides it was most likely just some kids trying to entertain themselves). Truth is no oneknows who we are better than God, Jesus Christ, and ourselves, so if there are others who

just want to stray away in order to go have fun (personally, I do not agree with that

thought line but kids are kids). As soon as a few more minutes passed on by, Laura

quickly turned to me to say that I was probably right (although she also said to me that it



did freak her out a little bit, mainly because that voice that she had heard kind of sounded

like the voice Laura had heard up there in the mountains, and Laura also said that she was

seriously hoping that person from before was not stalking her).Well, after that slightly unnerving conversation had reached its end (and the bell

rang suddenly that was saying that it was time to go back to class), all of us that had been

sitting there split up to go on about our day at school, and as far as I know nothing muchelse happened (at least, not anything that was really interesting happened while we were

proceeding with the school day). A few hours after I arrived back home (oh, thank you

Lord for getting me through yet another day of school), I heard the telephone ringdownstairs while I was up in my room, (and I think my mom answered it on the second

ring, which was good because at that moment I did not really feel like stopping my

personal scripture study to go down to answer the phone).

A couple of moments later, I heard someone walking up the stairs (and after thatthere on a knock on my bedroom door), which was followed only a few seconds later by

my mom’s head sticking in through the door frame in order to tell me that it was Sam

Thompson who was calling, and he wanted to talk to me. Well, at that point my mom

handed me the phone, and I had put down my version of the gospel to bring the phone upto my right ear, so I could just say to him, "Hey there Sam. How is everything going for

you (now that we are out of school)?"Sam quickly answered the phone by saying to me, "Hello there J-Man. Normally I

would be saying that everything was going just fine, however, in this case I am feeling

kind of concerned. I will get right to the point by asking if you have seen, or perhaps

maybe even talked to Laura Daniels since we got out of school earlier? I am only askingthis, because I called her house earlier and her parents answered the phone only to end up

telling me that neither of her parents had seen her return home yet, and they even

suggested to me that I call around a little bit just in case she went to go spend some timewith her friends, (and if that did not work, perhaps just try to call back at Laura's house

later on)."

There was a brief moment of pause after he had finished saying that, and then Idecided to give my answer to Sam Thompson by saying, "Actually good buddy, I have

not seen or heard from Laura Daniels, so I have to simply answer your question by saying

that yes, Laura did came up and talk to me when school got out yesterday, but I have notseen her since I had left the school grounds. I am very sorry that I could not be of any

more help to you (although I am sure that if it is the heavenly fathers will, you will most

likely find Laura Daniels, or at least know where she is)."

A few more seconds proceeded to go on by, and then afterwards Sam immediatelysaid right to my face, "Hey, I am just saying all of this because I don't want you to end up

getting yourself all worried about these events because I am pretty sure that Laura

Daniels is probably just hanging out with someone else for a little while. After all, I havenot even slightly finished calling around to all of the people that she knows, (and even if I

can't find out where she is right now, I can almost bet that I will probably get a hold of

Laura at some point later on). So J-Man, please do note that I am very sorry for taking upany of your time, and at the very least, I can say that I will talk to you tomorrow, good

buddy."

A couple of seconds passed on by after Sam Thompson had finished saying that to

me, which then I just simply said goodbye to him, and then we just proceeded to hang up



from each other so we could go on with what each of us were in the process of doing for

the remainder of that night (which I know that, at least in my case, was a combination of

some personal scripture study, video games, dinner, prayers, and the daily boringhomework that I needed to get done before it was time for me to go to sleep).



Chapter 3

Weird Calls and Mysterious Disappearances

Thursday January 9th, 1994

Welcome back to another day at Republic high school, (and as I am saying this toyou, I am pulling into the schools parking lot myself, and at this point, I am close enough

to the main building so I can see the modern art statues in front of the building). As soonas I got out of my used car (it was recently purchased), shut the drivers side door (kind of hard, but oh well), turned around to the left side of the car, and then started to walk up to

the main doors of the high school, I could not help but notice that for some strange reason

there was a lot of the students that were being as quiet as they could be, (and some of those few that were being kind of noisy, seemed to quickly quiet down right when they

noticed that I was walking near them).

A few minutes passed by when I had entered into the school (and yet, everywhereI walked, there was either some more sudden quietness, or there was some quiet

whispering). So, I was kind of startled when Dwayne Robinson suddenly came rushing

up to me, and once he knew that he had reached me, Dwayne quickly turned me around

so he was looking face to face with me in order to directly say this, "Hello J-Man. Now, Ido know that this is a weird way to start this morning, however, I got to ask you if Laura

Daniels has contacted you in any way at all?"

A few more moments went on by, and then I could only answer this question bysaying to Dwayne, "Hello Dwayne, thank you for the greeting this morning, and no, I

have not been contacted by Laura Daniels. In fact, I have not really seen her at all today,

(and could you please, tell me what all this is about, at least as far as Laura Daniels isconcerned)?"



Just as soon as I finished saying that to him, Dwayne just shut his eyes, gave off a

big sigh, and then he opened his eyes so he could stare at me eye to eye, and then after a

few minutes, Dwayne proceeded to say to me, "J-Man, I am really am sorry that I was sorude that I did not first say good morning to you, when I saw that you had arrived here,

and as far as my question goes, well, Laura Daniels did not come home last night, Sam is

going nuts trying to find her, and the last person that even remembers seeing her, onlyremembers that last time that Laura was seen was when she came up to talk to you

yesterday (and so just lately, there have been various rumors about the two of you that

have suddenly been bouncing back and forth among the student body)."Right as soon as I had heard Dwayne had finished saying that to me, I

immediately turned around in a 180 degree arc, and once I had finished that arc, I simply

just stopped moving in order to yell out really loud, "Good morning everybody, and first

things first, please know that I, Jeremiah Johnson, have not seen or heard from LauraDaniels since she came up to me yesterday while on the school grounds. So I must ask

that anyone who is spreading any type of rumor about me and Laura Daniels, please

cease what is being done, and if there is something that absolutely must be said, please

stick to the truth, and let us not just take a guess (because I know that sometimes when a person guesses, the mind can fabricate information that is not true at all)."

I quickly noticed that once I had said that, a lot of the students who were listeningto me suddenly decided to bow their heads, turn themselves around, and then slowly walk

away (my guess was that there was a lot of stories that were being spread around about

the two of us). Right after the next few moments had passed on by, I just shook my head

and then I promptly walked right over to Sam Thompson's locker (which was right wherehe turned out to be located at, just as I figured).

As soon as I realized that I had gotten his attention, I helped Sam Thompson calm

down enough to tell me just what he knew, (which was basically that everywhere Samcalled last night Laura was no where to be found, when he showed up to her house so

Sam could offer Laura a ride to school her parents told him that she had not come home,

and so far today Sam has not seen one little bit of her).Just as soon as Sam was done saying that to me, suddenly a ring tone could be

heard from someplace nearby (it was one those tones that is really the ending song from a

popular movie, (in this case, it sounded like the movie "The Breakfast Club"), and thenSam Thompson bent down to pull the cell phone out from the front pocket of his book

bag. He went ahead to answer the call, but after a few seconds went on by, Sam quickly

turned his phone off, and then he only said to me that call was no big deal.

Well, a little after that had happened, we separated to go off to our next classes,and really nothing rather interesting happened (at least, I can say nothing happened until

it was time for lunch). Once it was lunchtime, I came into the cafeteria, and sat down

right at the same table to be with Dwayne Robinson, Chris Walker, and Sam Thompson(who looked really concerned, no doubt because of the fact that so far today, Laura

Daniels still had not been seen).

Halfway through lunch, the guidance counselor for the school, Mr. Danielson,suddenly could be seen walking up to the side of the table (that was facing the entry way

to the cafeteria) in order to come tell Sam Thompson that if Laura Daniels does not show

up and Sam finds himself getting upset in any way at all, Sam can certainly feel free to

come talk with Mr. Danielson in his office. A minute or two after he walked off, I looked



over to ask Sam Thompson about that call he received just before school started, and Sam

said that when he answered the phone, all Sam could hear was someone saying that now

three sides of the star were covered, and then after a few more moments, that same personthat was on the other end, just hung up the phone before anything else could be said.

Well, around five minutes before the lunch bell rang, Chris Walker quickly stood

up from the table, and said to us that she will see us later, (Chris also told us that she hadto go out to the parking lot real quick before lunch was over). After Chris left the

cafeteria, those next minutes passed on by (in a kind of quick manner), and then once it

was the time to, the rest of us went back to our classes. Now, I have to say that right until my second to last class of the day, I had not

heard about anything else unusual happening at the school. However, just before my gym

class was about to start, the teacher, Mr. Stanson, came over to ask me if I had seen

Christina Walker at all today (which I have to admit kind of startled me, because I wasnot really expecting to hear anything like it coming from my teacher).

Of course I told him the truth, that yes I had seen Christina Walker at lunchtime,

and once it was clear that I could, I ended up asking him why was he asking me about

this, (after which I was told that Chris's gym teacher was just curious because ChrisWalker did seem to Mrs. Stanley as the type that would not show to class). I am guessing

that I was asked that, possibly because of the fact that over the last couple of weeks thetwo of us (meaning Chris and I) had gotten kind of close.

As soon as I was finished with that gym class, I did some more asking around

while the day went on by, and still Chris Walker was no where to be found (at least by

me). So as soon as the school day ended for me, I got my stuff from my locker, and then Itraveled straight over to Chris's house in order to hopefully find out that she was at least

at home (or if she was at a friends house, perhaps those that were there would be able to

tell me just where she was, and maybe even, give her a message that said to her that I waslooking for her).

However, as soon as I arrived at her house, I quickly found out that Chris Walker

was not at her house, (and it seemed that there was no one else at the house either). Now,I knew that she did not have a lot of friends to go spend some time with, so I just figured

that I would make a call to her house later on that same evening. Hey, if worse comes to

worse, the Lord will most likely make it so I will just have to wait until tomorrow tospeak with her, (after all, I am figuring that the Lord will make sure Chris Walker will

most likely be there at school tomorrow, right)? Sure he will (unless Satan and/or one of

his own creepy drones interferes in some way to make sure Chris does not make it to

school tomorrow, oh boy, it certainly is time for a really heartfelt prayer).

Interlude



A Surprise for Chris Walker

Chris Walker ended up barely being able to open up her eyes in order to find outthat, first things first, she was in what looked to Chris like a really dirty (and possibly

kind of old) room that looked more like a basement, and then after a few more seconds,

the next thought that came to her mind, was that it also seemed to Chris to look like itwas sort of crowded with a couple pipes and a lot of junk (some of which looked kind of

old as well, and broken to a point where it was not usable by anyone, in fact some of it

looked like it had been eaten away by some type of bugs).

Also, the room appeared to only be lighted up with some type of light that wasflickering in such a way that appeared just as if it was sort of like candlelight, (and when

Chris was able to find a way so she could look even closer, Chris could see that on the

ground there looked like, there was a big black star like shape that also looked like nowthat the shape was faded into the concrete, perhaps it could of simply became part of the

stone floor itself, and with that being a possibility, Chris figured that most likely that

drawing probably had been there for quite a while).At the very next moment, Chris Walker suddenly started to act like she was really

in a panic, and Chris tossed her head around in a back, and forth, motion as Chris was

trying her best to look around that room, (well, it is true that Chris could only look

around just so much considering of the fact that there was the combination that she waslaying on the ground, against a wall with her arms tied behind her back, her legs were

bound together, and Chris had a gritty gag inside of her mouth). So of course, Chris

Walker was only really just trying to escape her situation, and get out of where ever it

was that she was at right now.After the next few minutes went by (with no real results happening), Chris just

finally gave up trying to escape. Then after she hung her head (at a slight angle) whiletrying to relax at the same time, Chris turned her head to the right side, and then she saw

what looked to her like a pair of legs and feet that were just laying there on the ground

(actually a few moments later, and once she had done everything that she could do tolook some more in that direction, Chris Walker was able to see that there was a couple

different pairs of legs and feet that were laying on the ground of that room).



Then a couple more minutes later, she looked up to a spot on the wall, in order to

end up seeing that there was a slightly hook that was coming from the wall itself,

(although to Chris it did look kind of old and rusty), but that hook did appear like it stillhad a sharp edge to it, and Chris realized that if she tried she possibly could cut through

those ropes around her arms (after all, the hook was just low enough for Chris to be able

to do that).So she moved herself towards the hook, after some effort cut the bounds that were

around her arms, and turned her head so she could make sure that she was not cut while

standing up at the same time), but when Chris turned her head back around, she ended upseeing that one of those pairs of legs and feet belonged to Nick Robertson (who was lying

down right on one of the points to that black star that was on the ground, and he had skin

that looked kind of grey in color as well).

Then Chris turned her gaze to look over just a little bit to end up see that another point of that black star had Laura Daniels lying on top of it (it appeared like there was no

blood, although Laura's skin looked really pale, her eyes were wide open, and it did not

appear to Chris that Laura was breathing at all), and then Chris turned her gaze one more

time over to end up seeing that another point of the star had a headless girl (who also hadskin that grey) laying on top of it.

She started to scream as much as she could, and then after a few seconds, sheinstinctively turned around as if she was trying to run away. Instead, those bounds that

where around her ankles caught on to something that was on the floor, and it ended up

making so she would fall over to her left side (and she fell down just like Chris Walker

was a tree falling right onto the stone ground of that dirty room).As soon as a few more seconds passed on by, a really deep voice could suddenly

be heard by Chris Walker, and it was saying to her, "Well, hello there little girl. Maybe

you should try calming down some, and even staying right down there so you don't haveto see the sights perhaps would be a better thing for you. Although, if that which is in this

room bothers you, personally I do not really care." Then a tall figure, who had a strange

darkness that was surrounding him just like it was part of him, walked on by ChrisWalker in order to head over to what looked like an old, and dirty, refrigerator (also, to

Chris that refrigerator looked like it had a few spots of rust on it as well).

Then once that figure had reached it, the refrigerator door was quickly opened upwide, and suddenly Chris could see that her sister's face was in pain and terror as it could

only be seen from directly within a big glass jar (only the face was also surrounded by a

liquid that sort of yellowish-green in color), and it was looking almost right towards the

spot where Chris Walker was located at.Chris Walker managed to start screaming even more loudly than she was

screaming before (which in itself was slightly amazing, considering the fact was, that

Chris still had that gritty gag deep inside of her mouth, and that being the case, Chrisshould not have been able to become any louder, but Chris Walker still found a way).

So right at the very next moment, the dark figure suddenly turned around sharply

in order to look directly over at Chris, and when that figure saw the direction that Chriswas looking in, that figure looked down at the jar and said out loud, "Oh my word. Well,

I guess that could be kind of unnerving to some people (seeing a sight like that)

especially if that someone is like my loser brother. Perhaps I should have considered

finding a different place for that jar, something like a week or so ago."



Then that dark figure reached inside to bring out a bottle of beer, afterward

proceeding to close the refrigerator's door sort of hard, and then that dark figure walked

right over to an old wood work table (which was in another part of the room altogether).After a few more moments had gone by, that bottle was suddenly slammed down hard on

top of the table, and then once a few more seconds had gone by after that, that same

figure quickly reached down to grab a hold of some sort of shiny object (at least for thatmoment, exactly what was kind of object was hard to tell, but Chris saw that whatever it

was, it certainly did appear to her like it was kind of sharp).

Then that dark figure quickly turned around to look directly at Chris Walker inorder to say to her, "Well, if you just can not quiet yourself down, then I guess that I will

just have to make sure that during the whole procedure you will not make any more

noise, and oh yeah, I just want to say by the way that guy that I have seen that you have

been hanging around with (J-Man, I think you teens call him), will most likely be the guywho I finally end up having to kill in order to complete this star."

So at the very moment while she was suddenly feeling a weird mixture of fear and

astonishment, Chris Walker found that she could only see the dark figure coming towards

her with that object (and it was glittering as it was still in the figures right hand, whichnow that object appeared to Chris to look a lot like it was actually a small, sharp surgical

knife, (and that dark figure was coming towards her in a way so it was all she was reallyable to see, right up to the point when the darkness seemed to envelope her in such a way

that Chris Walker could really be seen no more).

Chapter 4



Just Another School Day

Friday January 10th, 1994

Well, hey there. Here we are on another weekday, and so far, I am going to haveto say that during this Friday, everything has started out all right, (by saying that, I

actually mean that there have been no odd events, and nothing unordinary has happened

as far as I have seen). Suddenly, I realized that I might have spoken just a little to soon asa sudden chill made my whole body shiver, right as I was walking on up to the main

building of the Republic high school.

Then for some reason, I simply stopped in my tracks, and I looked right over

towards the stairway that led to the high school's football field, where I could suddenly

see that Sam Thompson was just sitting there on the top step (he was sitting so his back was facing me), and from where I currently was standing at, it looked like Sam was just

staring off into the football field itself (really only the godhead could know for sure rightnow just what was going through his head, after all I certainly had no idea).

So after watching for a few minutes, I walked right over to Sam, and I proceeded

to just about immediately question him about just what was going on at school (I only feltlike asking him because when I was walking up to him, I could see that he had an

expression on his face that was clearly a look of concern, and/or worry). After a couple

more seconds of Sam just staring into far off distance, suddenly he just shook his headreally quickly, and then Sam turned his face to look directly into my eyes. As soon as

Sam Thompson came to the conclusion that he had my full attention, he proceeded to tell

me that all morning he has just been worried about a couple of things. Sam said to methat mostly it was just a combination of recent concerns that was basically made up of facts like that no one has seen, or heard, from Laura Daniels since the day before

yesterday, when Sam got into his car he found a mysterious note laying on top of the cars

dashboard (once Sam had read what it contained, then that note really seemed odd to SamThompson), and so far as he knew, so far no one has seen or heard from Chris Walker

since yesterday.

Right at the moment when Sam Thompson had finished telling me that, all I couldreally think of doing was to momentarily completely stop in what I was currently doing,

and then once a couple more minutes had gone by, I made myself rush over to quickly go

grab the school things that I needed take from my locker, cram inside of my locker all of

that which I did not really need, and as soon as I was done, I hurried over to the office of this schools guidance counselor, (after all, as far as I knew I was the last person that had

heard anything about Chris Walker, and I hope the Lord is on her side right now).

After I was told that I would have to wait (because the high schools counselor wascurrently in a meeting), I only had to sit down to wait about five minutes or so, and then

after a short period of time, Mr. Danielson came out to sit down in the seat that was right

next to me. He asked me just what my issue was about, and so I told him about the eventyesterday when the gym teacher had come up to ask me about the location of Chris



Walker. After I had informed him about that point, suddenly Mr. Danielson was very

interested as far as Chris was concerned, and he waited to hear if there was anything else,

(when nothing else came, Mr. Danielson thanked me for coming to tell him that, and thenhurried me off to my classes with a note because I was late to class).

Now for a while it seemed like I would not have anything to tell you because

really nothing else odd seemed to happen (until my first break of the day came around).When that break had finally come (it seemed to me like so far today time was just

creeping on by), I took a little bit of the time to walk outside for a minute to get a breath

of fresh air (the halls did seem unusually stinky and slightly hard to breath in a little bit,at least, it was that way for me so far), and it was right when I had stepped outside of the

school that I suddenly noticed that there was a dented, and rather dirty blue, van that was

just sitting out there in the parking lot, and to my eyes, that van simply just stood out of

place from the rest of the vehicles (perhaps this was because it was clearly parked in aspot that was slightly farther away from the other cars).

At the first sight, it did extremely look out place, however over a few more

seconds, I did remember that some of the other students, and some of the school staff

members, did have some guests that were here today, and although I have no idea whythere would be any guests, but still that van, as strange as it may look to me, might just

belong to one of those that are visiting today (again, I have no idea why anyone wouldwant to, but I am sure that there is a purpose to having them here).

Once I returned to my classes, I had to wait just a few hours and then it was time

for lunch. Now this time when I sat down at the usual table that we share, I only saw

Dwayne Robinson and Sam Thompson sit down with me. I quickly looked right over atDwayne and asked him if he knew if anyone else coming. At which Dwayne turned his

head around so he was looking directly at me and then he said, "J-Man, as far as I know

this is it. After all, Chris Walker has not been seen or heard from at all since yesterday,and Laura Daniels has seemed to have disappeared almost completely. Plus, all these odd

events that have been happening to me is sort of upsetting as well."

At that moment, I saw that Sam Thompson was just staring off into space (whilehe was also barely touching his food), and so I suddenly said to him, "You know Sam,

that food is only going to get older the longer you just stare, and not touch it at all. I will

tell you what, how about you give me that note you found to read, and then you get someof that food eaten before lunch time is over. After all, that gift was not presented to you

for you to just ignore it."

Sam reached down into the left pocket of his jeans, and then after a couple of

seconds, he handed me a crumpled piece of paper (I also have to say that after I hadgrabbed the note, I did notice that he finally began to eat his lunch), and so after a few

moments I unfolded it, and I saw that it said in dark red ink (at least I think that was ink

because it did have a brownish tinge to the color, and I have do also have to admit thatthe handwriting was very poor, and the note was sloppily written), "Sam, I just wanted to

let you know that I have four corners of my star completed now, and then after I have

taken care of these last ones, I will be able to continue becoming everything that I knowthat at least I have ever dreamed of being. GT."

Right when I finished reading all of the note, I quickly stared back up at Sam

Thompson (just in time to see that he was looking right back over at me). It is my guess

that he must of saw that there was now a new expression on my face (it was probably



showing Sam that I had some questions as far as the contents of the note), because right

out of the blue, he suddenly stopped eating his lunch so Sam could say to me, "J-Man,

Please know that: I have no idea why that was left for me to find, I have no real idea as towhat that person in the note could be talking about, and I have no clue as to who GT

really is (as far as I know, this note could of been some one's idea of prank, although how

that was put inside my car while afterwards the car door was locked back up almostexactly as it was before, now that would certainly be interesting to know). Oh yes, in case

you might have been wondering J-Man, that stuff that was drawn previously on the inside

of my locker has finally been removed."At the very next minute, the sound of the lunch bell suddenly ringing could be

heard, and the three of us got up to leave the cafeteria in order to head back to class. For a

reason that I do not know about, I suddenly glanced in the direction of the school parking

lot, (and in fact, I believe that dented van was still outside, which I thought was odd because as far as I know most of the guests had already taken off before it was lunch time

for the students). After not moving for a few more moments, I just shrugged both of my

shoulders, and I thought to myself, oh well, maybe there were still some more people that

were left to visit this excuse of a high school. Although, even I have to admit that I dofeel a bit surprised that there was reasons for people to stick around.

For the remainder the school day, there was nothing else odd that seemed to behappening (at least as far as I saw). The hours went by, and oh yeah, I do have to say that

while the school day went on I still did not see Chris Walker, or Laura Daniels, at all

(which was did seem kind of odd, because usually at least see Chris coming out of the

gym before my class, seeing how she has a gym period right before mine even occurs).Even as I was walking out the school building at the end of this weekday, I can say that

there seemed like there was nothing unusual happening, (as a matter of a fact, there was

even no weird cars or vans that probably would not have belonged outside anyways).So as soon as I realized that was the case, I simply just turned myself around, and

went my way back to my home. Although, when I had finally reached my home, I

suddenly found myself pausing for a brief moment, and then for an odd reason, I glancedup enough where I could see that there was a van parked just a little ways down the street

(and to me, even at such a far distance, this van looked very similar to the van that was

sitting outside of the high school earlier on during that day). Hey, in fact to me it lookedlike there was no real difference from the one I saw earlier, and the one that was currently

within my viewing range. As I walked on up to the front door of my house, I could hear it

as the van was just slowly driving behind me (which suddenly led to me speeding myself

up, so I could get inside without there being any problems).



Chapter 5

Weekend Warning

January 11th & January 12th, 1994

So far during this Saturday, I admit that things started out for me just like they

have always started out before on this day (which is usually a simple combination of



mostly waking-up, saying the usual morning prayers, going to the main bathroom to take

care of a couple of things, going back to my room to change from my night clothes into

some clean clothes for the day, then going on into the kitchen for some breakfast, andafter breakfast was eaten, immediately going on into the living room to go watch some

television).

At least, things were happening like they usually happen for me as I went aboutthis day, then around the middle of the day to the beginning of the afternoon, I suddenly

got a call from Sam Thompson, who made a point of saying to me (once he got the

chance to), that he had spent some extra time yesterday (right after school but before Samwent on home) in the school library in order to do some looking into that drawing that we

previously found on the inside of his locker.

During my conversation with him, Sam told me that it was a slight surprise when

almost as soon as he started looking for a place to start his little investigation, he quicklyended up finding a simple book that was about basic pagan beliefs, and after he said that

after he spent some time flipping through the pages for a little bit, Sam ended up stopping

that flipping when he saw that he had reached a drawing that was just like what we found

on the inside of his locker door.Sam told me that he made the decision to spend some more time reading about

that drawing, and he said that it told him that apparently there are some pagans out therewho actually believe that when this star is drawn in blood/or wax on the ground, and it

has all five points covered with death, (with a lit red candle at each point as well), only a

truly evil person just has to stand in the middle of the star, and then all that which that

person has desired will suddenly come forth unto that being (Sam also made it a point tosay to me, that there were no indications that this belief ever worked).

There was a small pause as I took a few seconds to think about this, and then

afterward I had to ask Sam why he was calling me to say this (although, I did have toalso add that I was kind of curious because I know that compared to some of all those

people that he knew, I previously kind of felt not that important). Sam Thompson then

told me that first, I was one his best and original friends (and he said that he can motignore that fact). Second, Sam told me that the book he read also said that at least two of

those points had to be covered by the death of the death of truly devoted followers of

Christianity (Sam also said to me, that he did try to call Laura Daniels as well, althoughhe still did not get any answer). After Sam said that to me, we said our goodbyes to each

other, hung up our phones, and then I just sat down on my bed so I could just reach over

to grab a hold of my gospel to bring to my chest.

Other than that phone call from my friend, the rest of the day proceeded on justlike most Saturdays usually do for me (which was basically a combination of prayers,

eating food, some television at a off and on pace, I believe that I maybe even played a

couple of video games, I read a bunch of my personal scripture, I put a entry into my own journal, played some of my music while I did my homework, afterward I watched one or

two family oriented movies, and then at some point during the night, finally I went on to

bed).On the very next day, I first started out the next day in a way that was very similar

to the start of yesterday, (although, instead of the non-formal clothes that I usually dress

into for my period of relaxation, I proceeded to get myself dressed into my formal clothes

in order to go participate worshipping God, his son Jesus Christ, and the holy spirit for a



few hours at the nearest church ward).

When I returned later on during that Sunday, I looked up to see that a dented van

was once again parked a little way down the street (actually, to me it looked like it wasabout the same distance away like when I saw it as I had came home from school on

Friday). After a few moments of looking, I just quickly shrugged my shoulders, and

proceeded on inside to go about worshiping the Sabbath day (although as soon as I could,some of the available time I spent changing from the formal clothes that I was wearing

into the non-formal clothes that I usually wear on my off time).

Just when I was almost finished changing my clothes (in fact, I had everythingelse but my t-shirt on), for some reason I stopped everything that I was doing to take a

quick glance outside, and I ended up seeing that same old, blue van very slowly driving

by my house. Oh well, I just figured that it might not mean a thing for me, still, I

probably should be more careful as to what I do during each day of the weekends, (just incase, there is anything bad that does end up happening to me).

Also, I figure that it might not be such a bad idea to pray for some stuff: such as

some extra safety, the ability to keep both the mortal body, and the spiritual form healthy

(even no matter how terrible some of the times can be), and to ask for guidance from theGodhead; so anything bad that does happen, I will be able to be led in such a way that I

can get away from that situation, (and hopefully I will be guided into a better one).However, it was realized by me that I probably should make sure that I did as

much as I could to respect this Sabbath day as best as I possibly could, and in reality, I

only needed to just relax (at least, bask in relaxation to the best of my ability). Everything

was going just as I had planned for it to proceed, (right until I had turned off the bedroomlight, laid down on my bed, and shut my eyes in order to go to sleep).

A couple of minutes after it could be felt by me that my eyes were completely

closed (at least to me, it seemed like it had been only a couple of minutes), suddenly itcould rapidly be heard as my bedroom window slowly slid open to a certain point, and

then I opened up my eyes right in time to see a big, dark figure rush directly over to

where I was laying at, in order so, one the figure's hands could extend over me (with whatlooked like a white cloth which smelled really weird, so it could be put directly over my

mouth), and then while the next few more seconds went by, everything else within that

room just seemed to fade away into complete blackness for me.



Chapter 6

Jeremiah's Sudden Awakening

Monday January 13th, 1994

After I found that I had to blink for a few times to actually be able to finally be

able to open up both of my eyes. Then as soon as I knew that I was fully awake, I

suddenly came to the realization that I had been moved from my bedroom to a barely lit,dirty, (and kind of musty smelling), basement of some kind. There was a cloth gag that

had been put into my mouth, and I was tightly bound to a rickety wooden chair (well, it

certainly felt like the chair was made of wood, although it was also kind of clear that it at

least had 4 legs).



As I moving my head in order to look more upward, not only did I see what was

most likely the star that someone seemed very determined to tell Sam Thompson about,

unfortunately, I also got to see some of my friends laying down dead on the floor, (eachone that I recognized, was laying on top of a star point, which is also just how Sam had

read about in that book), and I could see that there was another point that had a

decapitated body laying the star point (although I could see that the clothes looked a lotlike the ones that Stacy Walker was wearing when she disappeared on that weekend trip).

During the next few moments, I suddenly noticed that there was a sharp chain saw

lying on the ground pretty close to where I was at, (so I started to make the chair that Iwas in, rattle back and forth while it inched along the ground at the same time, it is true

though that as rickety as this chair felt, it still was a tough piece of furniture that even

with the muscles that I have was not about to break apart). When I could see that I had

made the chair so it was close enough to the saw's blade for me to possibly be able toreach enough, barely I was able to manage to lean over a little bit to my left side, and

then I suddenly could move my body quickly went far over to the right side, so the chair

would fall over hard enough to finally break apart.

Once I knew that I was laying on the ground (with my body in the correct positionso I could easily reach the saw blade), I moved myself up to cut the bounds that were

around my wrists (and arms) to quickly end up reaching upwards once more in order tofinally remove the cloth gag from my mouth. Then after I had paused once more, I

noticed that there was a small knife (it appeared like one of those small knives that

doctors sometimes will use, and I also noticed that the blade had a distinctive reddish-

brown color) that was lying on the ground almost right next to me. After I paused againfor a moment or two longer, I bent down to pick up the blade (oh man, all I can say is that

this blade was certainly slimy enough it was just short of simply being flat-out gross), and

I proceeded to cut loose the remaining bounds that were around my legs (and I can nothelp but wonder just what that knife was used for before, because whatever it was

certainly did a good job in dulling the blade).

As soon as I was completely free, rapidly I got up in order to hurry over to whereI had previously seen Chris Walker laying on that cold stone floor (also, once I had

reached where she was laying at, I noticed that it did not appear like Chris had moved any

since I had last seen her). Then after spending some of the time in tears, I was barely ableto move the eyesight as I noticed a small table nearby that only had on its dark wood

surface a single book that looked to me like not only was the cover old and faded, (at first

I did think much of it until I saw that there was also a small symbol on the spine of the

book that appeared a lot like a upside down cross in the middle a triangle), also some of the writing was written in a language that appeared to me as if it was a early form of

some type of Latin.

A few more seconds went on by, and then I turned my head in order to look back down towards Chris, and it was right then that I made my decision to lean down in order

to pick her body up so I could drag her body over to the closest wall, (which I also ended

up doing with the bodies of Nick Robinson and Laura Daniels as well, but I have to admitthat headless body I did not go near, because I did not really want to get any messier than

I already was). Then only other reason that I did not touch that other body was because I

really did not want any more of the reddish-brown liquid on me (and there was a lot of

that liquid surrounding that body).



It was then that I heard what sounded like an engine arriving sort of near by, (or at

least it sounded like it had driven right up to what looked to me like the only exit), and

after a brief moment, I rushed over to a nearby set of stairs that I had previously noticedwas in the same room (I must say that I did accidentally kick over a red candle while I

was in the process of getting to those stairs). Now right when I was about halfway up

those stairs, and both of the doors that where at the very top suddenly opened up all theway, (and after another moment, two heads quickly appeared in what made up the

opening). While I was listening, the bigger head simply just yelled down "hello", and

then the smaller one yelled out to ask if there was anybody who was alive down here. Now, let us back up a moment. Right when those doors first started to open up, I

did suddenly make myself stop in a way so it seemed that I was almost completely frozen

where I was currently standing at, but once the doors opened and it was clear to me that

most likely it was some friends that had arrived, I got myself moving to hurry the rest of the way up those stairs. When I finally got to the very top step of the staircase, I quickly

found out that those two heads that I had seen before, actually belonged to my good

friend Sam Thompson, and his uncle John Thompson, (and as soon as I had reached the

doorway at the top, both of them proceeded to help me get out of that place).As soon as I had finally completely exited that room, Sam Thompson looked from

my face down into the hole only to turn his eyes back up to mine, and after a few moreseconds, he said to me, "Hello there, J-Man. This is certainly not a place that I expected

to see you in, and I should probably say that we better get moving if we want to leave

before my other uncle comes back." So at that point, the three of us started moving

through some parts of the forest that we were in until we arrived back on a road, (and Icould see that just a tiny bit of distance done the road, an empty taxi cab was sitting on

the side of the road just waiting for us).

After all of us had completely gotten inside of the cab, we started it right up, and Icould turn my head in order to see through the back window that we were driving in a

direction that was moving away from that horrid room, so I quickly turned my head back

around to look at Sam Thompson (actually I was looking at the back of his head becausethis was all I could really see at this point), and so I suddenly asked him, "Sam, while I

do have to thank you for coming and getting me (because I really appreciate that you

did). However, I do feel that I have to say that I am feeling slightly curious, just how didyou know that I was even in there, (or where you, and your uncle, just looking to see if

there was someone down there)?"

Right once I had finished saying this, my school friend quickly turned around

enough so he could look directly at me while he went on to say to me, "Actually J-Man,the truth is that we were not really expecting to find anyone at all down there (but hey,

perhaps it was the will of the Godhead that my uncle and I were led directly to you).

Although, I do have to say that this is certainly a welcome surprise for me (mainly, because I have not seen you all day, and I kind of need someone from school to talk to)."

It was after he finished saying that to me that I paused for a few more moments, and then

I looked back over to Sam in order to ask him, "Now, wait just a moment Sam, you saidyou have not seen me all day, so just what time is it anyways?"

My buddy quickly glanced down to the watch that was sitting on his left wrist,

and then he looked back up to me to say, "J-Man, right at this particular moment, it is

4:30 in the afternoon, and as far as how we ended up looking down there, well, some



fresh tire tracks were recently discovered not only going to the cabin, but also leading

into the Cascade woods. The reason why that I seen them was because I had just gone to

the cabin in order to go have a quick talk with my uncle John (I realized that I probablyneeded to at least tell him about the note that I had found last week, and I was probably

going to also add about how I figured out that those final letters that were within that

note, GT, might of been the first letters that were on my other uncles first and lastname)."

It was at that point when Sam Thompson had to stop himself for a few seconds so

he could catch his breath, and then a couple moments later on, he continued onward byalso saying to me, "After a few minutes went on by, I quickly found him sitting at the

front deck of the cabin (along with some others who looked like local police, who also

appeared to me like they were just aimlessly looking around). When I finally got a chance

to go talk to my uncle, I ended up telling him about that second trail, and what was foundon it during that weekend. So my uncle and I, followed by some of those police, just

simply proceeded to head on down the trail so we could go take a quick look around. A

couple of minutes after we had been walking down the second trail, I suddenly noticed

the trap doors, and at the same time as my uncle I saw some drag marks that were leadingdirectly to them, so my uncle and I made up our minds to just go on over to take a quick

look at it, (oh yes, in case you were wondering, I also should say that the reason that thiscab was just sitting there on the side of that road was because that happened to be where

my uncle had parked it earlier on, my guess is that my uncle John did not have many

other choices as far as where to park when he arrived)."

I just responded by simply smiling at what was said to me, and then we went therest of the way to our hometown in complete silence (well, of course, except for the noise

of the taxi cabs engine running, and the noise that was made, when it could be heard that

John Thompson's cell phone was ringing, which once it was answered by him, JohnThompson had a conversation on it that made him look to me like he was at first very

concerned, and then, around the same time that he got off of the cell phone, John

Thompson suddenly had a expression on his face that him look a lot more relieved, thanthe expression on his face said must of been feeling before he actually started to hear

whatever it was that John Thompson ended hearing over that call).



Final Results

When we finally arrived back into Republic, I exited the taxi just before Sam

Thompson got out of it as well. Quickly, right as soon as Sam was out of the car, he

walked around the front of the cab in order to go give his uncle a hug through the window

on the drivers side door, and I waited as Sam ended up spending few more minutes over there, (my guess was that his uncle was apparently telling him something through the car

window before they parted to go their separate ways). Just as soon as Sam had come back around to the other side of the car, Sam waved once more with his right hand, and then

John Thompson proceeded to drive off (in a direction that looked to me like it was back

toward the Cascade Mountains).When his uncle's car could be seen no more (at least by me), Sam Thompson

quickly turned around in order to directly face me, and then after a few seconds he said to

me, "Well J-Man, now there was certainly some good news. Apparently, that phone call

that my uncle got while we were coming back here was a call from some of those policeofficers that were at the cabin, and they were telling my uncle John that a little while after

we left, a van was seen slowly pulling up towards the cabin. Suddenly it stopped on thedriveway, so the officers that were there moved towards it. After a few moments the back doors of the van suddenly flung open, and those officers just started to run up to the back

of the van. After a little chase down the road, a man in black was captured by an officer

tackling him to the ground. One of the officers reached up to take off a mask (it was oneof those black masks that stories like to say criminals use to hide their faces), only in this

case the officer could only really grab the bottom edge of the mask (so when it was

pulled off, a necklace also broke apart and suddenly the identity of that person was as

clear as it can be). It was none other than my other uncle, George Thompson (whoalready had a warrant out for his arrest), and then some of the other officers that were

there, looked into the back of the van in order to see a combination of odd books,

narcotics, and what was described to my uncle John as a face in a big jar (whatever thatwas all about)."

After he was finely finished speaking, I quickly sat down on a ledge that was

nearest to me, and after a brief moment, Sam came over to join me. Then after the nextfew moments, I turned my head to look in his direction, and as soon as I knew that I had

his full attention, I said to him, "Sam, while it is a great thing that the police have caught

him, please know that he is not only going to prison for what is most likely the remainder of his life here on this planet, and you can also be sure that when his time comes to be



judged before God, most likely he will probably end up in spiritual prison (otherwise

known as hell), because your uncle George Thompson has certainly sinned big time.

Please also know, that at least you are being told this by your closest friend, and not bysome stranger who you hardly know. Sam, I have to say that I am really sorry about this,

but I have some bad news to say to you."

I took a few more seconds to pause while I was taking a deep breath at the sametime, and then after a moment, I felt it as Sam slowly moved my head so I was looking

back up at his face, and that was when he proceeded to ask me, "Alright please tell me J-

Man, what is it that is troubling you so deeply?"After he asked me this, I breathed in a deep sigh, and then I finally was able to say

to him, "Sam, I must tell you that while I was down there in that room, or basement, or

whatever it was, I found our missing friends (although not in the state that I was hoping

to find them in). That evil pagan of an uncle was the one who made it so now they aregone, and not one is going to come back to us. When you guys found me, I was truly the

only thing alive down there. Although on Chris, Nick, and whomever that decapitated

body was, blood was on the bodies. However, the body of Laura Daniels did appear to

have any blood, although her skin looked to be pale, and I could see that there was bruising around her neck as well. I am not really sure just what kind of monster that man

was, but his soul is not going to like what is coming to him, and as far as Laura goes,well, I think the lord wanted her to be with you or else the first time she was captured she

would not have been led to you. That pagan just decided to stalk her, and right when he

got a chance to, I bet the devil had that pagan suddenly strike."

Right when I finished speaking all of what was on my mind, I watched as SamThompson slowly stood all the way up, and I was watching as Sam proceeded to walk off

towards the steps that led to the local church. When he reached around the front of the

first steps, Sam turned around to a point where I could see that on his face there was anexpression that was clearly a combination of grief, a bit of inward pain, a little fear, and

perhaps even some abstract anger. As soon as it was clear to me that I could go do this, I

rushed over to give him a great big hug, (and as a result, proceeded to get to cry enoughso the shoulder of my shirt was so wet, one could almost say it was almost to soaked to

keep, but hey, there is always other shirts to wear).

After a few more moments of being just like that, finally both of us found that wewere able to pull away from each other, and that was when I said to Sam Thompson,

"Hey now, don't let yourself be troubled so, and any anger that is there I know should

most likely be towards the other people that would be so anti-religious that they would

commit crimes, sin against the godhead, and do things like what has happened to our friends. After all, is hat not what Laura was against? She will probably remain with you if

you take into your heart what was in hers, help those that you see that need it (even if it

means taking away from yourself, after all, is that not they same way that Laura Danielswas most likely saying that she was feeling like just before she disappeared (the reality is

that exactly what she was talking about would have towards you seeing how the two of

you were sharing the same room). I can say that there are Christian beliefs (like in thetype of church that I go to) that believe that if are truly faithful to the godhead, and not

the devil, that person can be baptized with water and fire, and then that same person can

go the closest holy temple to at least be sealed to the lost loved one (of course, that living

person would have to remain faithful until the time comes to be together once more).



After all, just like I loved Chris Walker and all that she said to me that she really cared

about, my suggestion to you is that if you truly loved Laura Daniels, take her dreams and

what she cared about into your heart, and soul, then you will never truly be separatedfrom each other!"

After a few more minutes passed on by, Sam Thompson wiped the tears away

from one eye (then he wiped the tears away from the other one), then he suddenly cameforward one more time in order to give me yet another great big bear hug, and after a few

moments went on by, he managed to whisper right into my left ear, "Jeremiah Johnson, I

feel that I must say to you thanks a bunch (for you have been my only true best friend,and certainly my brother during this day)!"

After that was done, the two of us went our separate ways (oh, we still sat with

each other during the school lunches, though between me and Sam Thompson our

subjects that we talked about changed just a little bit, and sometimes we would go spenda little time together outside of the school). I heard from my school friend Dwayne that a

little later during the start of the next week, funeral services were held for all those that

had died, and the mortal bodies were buried shortly afterwards.

Also, I was able to find out that George Thompson got taken before a mortal judge, and George was sentenced to life without even the possibility of parole, then he

got sent to a jail where almost no one has been able to escape from so far, (and I hear thatanother part of his sentence was that he was also banned from any type of reading

material at all, although I actually do not have a guess as to what the purpose of that ban

was for, but I am sure there was a significant reason). My opinion is that how I see it

there are people who choose to change, and there are others who refuse to change (andthey may even be related to each other).

For example: Sam Thompson chose to change from a person who seemed to

really only care about his own image, and his materialistic wants, into a person whoreally cares about others and he is willing to put those things that he truly needs before he

desires (no matter how hard it might be), and then there his uncle, George Thompson,

who chose to never really change from the selfish and greedy person that he was (after all, this is a guy even attempted to tempt his nephew when George never really knew him

either). I was amazed that Sam Thompson was refusing all those times to give up to the

point where he would have strayed of the path of the Lord and into the darkness of evil.I know that Sam Thompson had graduated from high school and the last thing
