Who ever thought that getting older could be so much fun? So, let us tell you that Blazin’ M Ranch in Cottonwood, AZ was an excursion that brought laughter to a new level. The moment we arrived, we were greeted like family and many stepped onto the tractor-pulled wagon ride circling the ranch full of horses, pigs, chickens and park areas lined with country stores, horseshoe pits, lively saloon and shooting range. Once the dinner bell rang, the barn doors opened and the aroma-filled hall was ready with a complete cowboy dinner. And it only got better from there… Our sweet Marjorie was serenaded by P.U. who so wanted a new wife. She fit all his requirements and more! We laughed and shared our stories of the wonderful entertainment for days to follow. P.U. and his cousin, Otis couldn’t come home with us that evening, however, I reminded them that we are seeking more residents!

Howdy Y’all,

Your friends at Majestic Rim Retirement Living

That Majestic Rim is celebrating its Ten Year Anniversary this month? And who better to introduce than our first resident,

Mary Lorrig!

Guided by goodness, loyalty, faith, and fun

In a recent interview, Mary reflected on her transition and what she gained from this experience may surprise you. “When Bob and I moved into Majestic Rim 10 years ago, we were so excited. We selected the largest apartment available and it was over 1,200 square feet which was plenty of room for the both of us. Bob particularly liked the balconies. Funny now to think back on those first few years, we hardly ever sat outside,” Mary giggled and shrugged her shoulders. From a young woman attending the Conservatory of Music studying piano to an adult who traveled the world, she has a deep appreciation for friendship. Continued on page 3.

“My life has been blessed! Traveling the world, exploring new places, meeting new people and continuing to learn along the way has been an adventure that I don’t take for granted,” shared Lorrig. Majestic Rim was under development when they looked for a new home in the Rim County where a cooler climate would be a great relief from the Phoenix heat. “I don’t know where the time goes; it’s hard to believe it has been 10 years already. Since Bob’s passing in 2010, I still feel like my family of friends are here to support me.” She shared that the residents are more than friends… We are family!

because they grow old;

they grow old because they

quit playing.”

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

On June 3, 1950 Citation, an United States thoroughbred, set a new record for running the mile at the San Francisco Breeders’ Cup Mile with a completed race of one minute, 33.6 seconds.

Citation April 11, 1945 –August 8, 1970

Father’s Day is a rich tradition for many families and we want to recognize all the gentlemen in our community for their sincere value of family, service to country and care for others. Each of you have a unique story to share with others and we thank and honor you for your continued love and happiness that you bring to Majestic Rim.

Citation was owned by Calumet Farm in Lexington, Kentucky yet his pedigree was mostly European. Trained by Ben A. Jones and Jimmy Jones, Citation won eight major races from 1947 to 1951, as well as winning three Triple Crowns at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes all in 1948. Citation retired in 1951 after winning the Hollywood Gold Cup which Citation received the honors of becoming the first racehorse in history to earn more than one million dollars. He was later inducted to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1959. Citation was recognized in the Blood-Horse magazine Top 100 U.S. Thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, where he was ranked #3.
