4-H Committee Members Needed

Nominate yourself or someone else by January 15th to serve on the Highland County 4-H Committee! Committee volunteers are comprised of volunteer advisors, parents and the business community. The terms are below. Contact Kathy or Danielle at (937) 393-1918 for nominations for one of the following positions:1 – NE (Leesburg, Greenfield, Hillsboro) – 3 yr. term1 – SE (Berrysville, Belfast, Sinking Spring) – 3 yr. term1 – SW (Buford, Mowrystown) – 2 & 3 yr. terms1 – At-Large – 3 yr. term

New Volunteer Applications

Now is the time to recruit new volunteers for 2020! Any adult who is going to be alone with 4-H members must go through the volunteer selection process. If volunteers want to be active in 2020, they need to complete the selection process. Applications for new advisors will be due the last Thursday in February in 2020. The forms are available at highland.osu.edu.

4-H Camp Counselor Applications –Due January 9, 2020

The 4-H Camp Counselors are a group of 4-H teens selected to assist in being responsible for campers during 4-H camp. As a result of participation, counselors will develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations needed for adult success, and the Highland County 4-H program will be strengthened and expanded.Applications are available in the OSU Extension office or online at:https://highland.osu.edu/sites/highland/files/imce/2020%20%20Camp%20Counselor%20Application.pdf. The deadline to apply for 2020 is before January 9, 2020 by 4:00 p.m. in the Extension Office.

Buckeye Leadership Workshop

Buckeye Leadership Workshop is a learning, sharing “workshop” intended as a balanced program of social, physical, mental, and spiritual activities. We believe that Buckeye Leadership Workshop provides a powerful learning environment in which anyone who works with people, professionally or informally, can develop programming for youth or adults. Buckeye Leadership Workshop is March 25 – March 29, 2020. For more information contact the OSU Extension Office at 937-393-1918 or check out https://buckeyeleadership.com/.

Youth Poultry Clinic

The 2020 Clinic will be held Saturday, April 18, at OSU ATI, Wooster. The postmark deadline for registration is Wednesday, April 1. The cost for the clinic is $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for youth. Registration material will be available at https://ohio4h.org/animalsciences/poultry/poultry-calendar-events.Refreshments and lunch are included in the registration fee. Vendors will be present.

Search for new and different projects to take. Learn all about projects, what other people think of it, and view sample pages. Rate a project you have already taken and share your feedback.Please take time to rate the projects you have taken! This will give feedback to 4-H Educators as they continue to update and create new projects. Do all this at: www.ohio4h.org/projectcentral4-H Graduation Cords

4-H Graduation Honor Cords will be available this year for current 4-H seniors to purchase. These green and white cords will proudly proclaim seniors’ long-time active involvement in the Highland County 4-H Program and their local 4-H club. The cords, pictured here, are available from OSU Extension Highland County. To order yours, please send a check, payable to OSU Extension, Highland County, in the amount of $15.00, on or before Thursday, April 9. We will place the order with National 4-H Supply, and let you know when you can stop in to pick up your cords. Of course, purchasing and wearing the cords is optional. We will provide all area high schools with a list of all our graduating seniors who purchase a cord so they are aware of what the cord represents. Let’s show our colors at graduation. Ohio 4-H Conference

The 2020 Ohio Volunteer & Teen Conference will be held March 9 at the Columbus Convention Center. There will be a bus providing transportation to and from the conference – let’s fill the bus from Highland County. To register you will need to submit your enrollment form and list of the sessions that you would like to attend by February 6, 2019. Registration and sessions list is available at: https://ohio4h.org/events/ohio-4-h-conference or at the Extension Office.This is a great educational opportunity for 4-H Youth and 4-H Advisors.
