Join us for our 2nd General PTA Meeting

On Thursday, January 25, the PTA will host our 2nd General Meeting of the year. Dinner,

provided by PDQ, will be served at 5:30pm and is free to all PTA members. Not a

member? No problem. We will have memberships for sale at the door ($8 for

individuals & $25 for families). The meeting will begin at 6pm, and we will give an

update on our budget and progress for the year. This will be followed by a

presentation on “Celebrating Differences” (see President’s message on page 2 for

more details). There will also be supervised activities on the covered courts for school

aged children. We hope to see you there!

On Friday, January 19, Westchase will host its

annual Kindergarten Round-Up at 8:30am in

the cafeteria. If you have a rising kindergartener

and are interested in learning more about

Westchase Elementary, please join us at the

Round-Up. Attendees will hear from

administration, kindergarten teachers, PTA and guidance. The morning will wrap up

with a tour of the campus with a PTA volunteer. Please feel free to bring your future

Wizards along!

Spirit Night at CHIPOTLE

Please support Westchase by eating at Chipotle between 4pm &

8pm on Monday, January 15. Fifty percent of the proceeds will

be donated back to Westchase.

A message from the President:

Hello Westchase Families,

Welcome back to school and Happy New Year! We

have our second PTA General Meeting on January

25. This meeting is being sponsored by our new

PDQ. The meeting is open to all PTA members. We

will be serving dinner from 5:30 – 6pm. At 6pm, we

will have a quick meeting that focuses on our budget

status – including an update on our Wizard Walk

money and technology update.

At 6:30pm, we will have a presentation on

“Celebrating Differences”. This presentation will be

done by FDLRS and is about the different types of

students we have at Westchase. We will focus on

how we, as parents, can be a positive influence on

our children to help them recognize and support

differences in our students.

There will be supervised entertainment for the kids

on the covered courts during the meeting. We hope

to see all our PTA members there!

Other activities in January include handing out our

second quarterly reward to all our PTA kids, and

please don’t forget to tell your friends about

Kindergarten Round-Up on January 19.

to spend the fundraising dollars. This year’s list has been

narrowed down to Technology & Upgraded Water

1. Repairing Current Technology Equipment - $5,000

2. Adding New Technology (Laptops & Interactive

Technology) - $57,500

3. Upgrade 2 to 4 Water Fountains to allow water

bottle fill-ups - $2,500

Spent: $5,000 – Repairing Current Technology

$33,000 – 3 New Laptop Carts (90 laptops, 3

carts, headphones)

Westchase Places 2nd at Math Bowl Competition

On December 19, our 5th grade team competed against other Hillsborough County schools in the annual Math Bowl. The teams had to solve 8 problems, and they scored points based on how quickly they completed the problems.

Congratulations to Jack Keller, Beaudy Beaudin, Hayden Sadler, Jacob Curé and Violet Correa! A special thanks goes to Ms. Raab for her efforts in coaching and prepping the team!

Box Tops Drive Begins 1/22

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to earn a lot of money for our school. Simply cut the Box Tops labels off and send them to school in a plastic baggie. Please be sure to include the child’s name, teacher’s name and grade in order to receive credit. The class who brings in the most Box Tops will earn a PIZZA PARTY!

Congratulations to Mrs. Barrett’s 5th grade class for winning the Fall Drive by turning in 868 Box Tops! In the fall we raised a total of $1,345.90!

Remember to clip Box Tops all year long!
