GEOSPATIAL ADVANCEMENT CANADA 2015: Harnessing the Power of Geospatial Information to Bolster National Health, Wealth and Security PAGE 3
WELCOMEDear Colleague,
Geomatics is experiencing unprecedented growth. Geospatial datasets currently represent over 96% of datasets published on the open data portal as part of the larger government priority for open government. Dramatic advancements in UAV technology, earth observation satellites and aerial imagery are increasing the accessibility of imagery to improve decision making. Furthermore with geospatial information, tools and data reaching all segments of society, the profile of GIS has elevated to new heights as companies realize the benefits of integrative services, managed assets and the efficiencies to be gained through GIS. In the context of rapid technological advancement and increasing pressures for data sharing and open government, are you confident that youre maximizing geomatics to the fullest potential to increase efficiency and inform decision making?
The 2015 program has been carefully crafted to offer a solutions driven approach to remote sensing, collaboration, data sharing and integration, web mapping and open data within an interactive format to engage in deep peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and meaningful networking. The nations premier geomatics, surveyors and earth observation experts will offer insights and solutions for the most pressing issues facing our community, from the unique requirements of the North to keeping up with rapidly expanding technology to ensure spatial datasets are accurate and easily shareable.
Day 1 Federal Updates and Collaboration Strategies to Advance Exploration and Maintain National Security and Safety
Day 2: Leveraging Remote Sensing to Improve Public Health, Police, First Responders and Policy and New Opportunities for Geomatics
Day 3: Driving Data Sharing Through Portals, Web Mapping, Open Data to Meet Open Government Objectives
Do not miss this opportunity to gain best practices and strategies being executed across the country to drive forward a robust geomatics program that will help you to achieve objectives for 2015 and beyond.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ottawa in March 2015,
Sincerely,
Marissa Alvord Event Director Geospatial Advancement Canada
