THIS WEEK: The Jacksonville Jaguars look to even their record as they playthe first of back-to-back road games on Sunday, November 2 against theCincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. EST.

David Garrard threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns last weekagainst Cleveland, but a late rally fell short as the Browns pulled out a 23-17win. Matt Jones tied his career-high with eight receptions for 117 yards. TheJaguars tied the game at 17-17 early in the fourth quarter, but the Brownsadded two field goals in a 30-second span to regain the lead.

“It's really crucial that we find a way to get that consistency that we'relooking for and that we be able to play more consistently as a football team andthat's my mission, ” Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said. “There's only oneway to go about it. You can't just talk about it, you just have to roll up yoursleeves and go to work. It's what I know, it's what I believe in. We're going tostay the course in terms of correcting and moving on and expect to be bettergoing forward.

“What you are provided is an opportunity in this league. You get 16regular season opportunities and we've got nine remaining. We've got to focusour attention, our efforts and our energies on preparing the best we can and goout and compete in each and every ballgame as hungry as possible, and that'sthe way we're going to do it."

The Jaguars are 2-1 on the road in 2008 with wins at Indianapolis andDenver and are looking to win three consecutive road games for the third time(2005, 2007) and second consecutive season under head coach Jack Del Rio.

The Jaguars have faced four of the top five teams in the AFC throughseven weeks and join Baltimore as the only teams to open the season witheight consecutive games against AFC opponents. Following the Bengalsgame, the Jaguars will travel to Detroit for their first game against a NFC oppo-nent this season. The Jaguars are the only team in the NFL to have every gamethis season decided by seven points or less.

The Jaguars lead the overall series with the Bengals, 11-5, includingwins in four straight and nine of the last 10 games. The only opponents theJaguars have faced more than Cincinnati are Houston/Tennessee (27 games)and Pittsburgh (20 games). The clubs met twice each season from 1995-2001as members of the AFC Central where the Jaguars won two division titles. Theclubs’ last meeting was in 2005 with the Jaguars winning 23-20 on ESPN’sSunday Night Football.

GARRARD LOCKED IN: Quarterback David Garrard has not thrown aninterception in four straight games dating back to 9/21 at Indianapolis andhas produced two of the four highest passing totals of his career in the lastfour games. Garrard has completed 91 of 140 passes for 995 yards and fivetouchdowns for a 97.7 rating over a four-game stretch. He has thrown 150consecutive passes without an interception, the fourth-longest streak inteam history. He holds the top mark at 209 passes from 9/9/07 through11/25/07. In addition, Garrard has 30-plus attempts in four straight gamesfor the first time in his career.

PETERSON RETURNS TO LINEUP IN 2008; LEADS TEAM IN TACKLES:Linebacker Mike Peterson returned to the starting lineup in 2008 after missing 17 gamesthe past two seasons with injuries and he leads the team with 75 tackles. Petersonrecorded a season-high 16 tackles (12 solo) last week against Cleveland and had 15tackles against Buffalo in week two. Peterson, who has started 124 games in nine NFL seasons, missed six regular season games and twopostseason games in 2007 with a broken hand. He started the first five games in 2006 before suffering a torn pectoral muscle and wasplaced on injured reserve. He has career totals of 1,301 tackles, 18.5 sacks, 15 interceptions, five forced fumbles and seven fumble recover-ies.

MATHIS LEADS TEAM WITH THREE TAKEAWAYS: Jaguars cornerback and team captain Rashean Mathis has recorded two inter-ceptions and recovered a fumble in the first seven games. Mathis returned both interceptions for touchdowns. Mathis picked off PeytonManning on 9/21 at Indianapolis and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown, then intercepted Ben Roethlisberger against Pittsburgh on 10/5 onthe opening possession and returned it 72 yards for the second-longest return in team history. JOSH SCOBEE LEADS KICKING GAME: Josh Scobee has made 12 of 14 field goals, including two game-winners, and leads the teamwith 51 points through seven games. Scobee hit 11 consecutive field goals before having one blocked last week at Cleveland. Scobee, whois 3 of 3 from 50-plus yards in 2008, tied the franchise-record with a 53-yard field goal against the Browns in the fourth quarter. Scobee con-nected from 37 yards in overtime against Houston on 9/28 and hit from 51 yards at Indianapolis in week three with four seconds remaining.He had a 50-yard field goal against Buffalo in week two. He has been successful on a franchise-best 80.8 percent (97 of 120) of his careerfield goal attempts.

SUPER BOWL RING REUNITES COACHES: : There will be several coaches and personnel members on the field Sunday that played anintegral role in the 2000 Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl championship. Baltimore defeated the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV behindarguably one the greatest defenses in NFL history. The Jaguars defeated the visiting Bengals 23-20 on ESPN Sunday Night Football .With the win the Jaguars improved to 3-2 and handed the Bengals (4-1) their first loss of theseason. Fred Taylor registered his first 100-yard rushing game of the season with 24 carriesfor 132 yards.

The Jaguars began the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Byron Leftwichto George Wrighster on the Jaguars’ opening drive. The Jaguars added a 32-yard JoshScobee field goal after Derrick Wimbush blocked a Kyle Larson punt in the first quarter.Scobee connected on a 51-yarder in the second quarter following a nine-play, 54-yard drive.The Bengals scored their first touchdown before halftime when Carson Palmer connected withChad Johnson on a 14-yard touchdown pass.

The Jaguars started the second half with a six-play, 62-yard drive that was cappedoff with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Leftwich to Ernest Wilford. The Bengals scored onback-to-back possessions in the third quarter as Shayne Graham connected on field goalsfrom 31 and 48 yards. The second scoring drive came after Wimbush fumbled a kickoff.Scobee tied a team-record with his 53-yard field goal in the fourth quarter as the Jaguars tooka 23-13 lead.

The Bengals drove 73 yards in three plays late in the fourth quarter and Palmer con-nected with Chris Henry on a 25-yard touchdown pass. After the Jaguars punted on theirnext series, the Bengals drove to the Jaguars 45-yard line before Daryl Smith sacked Palmerand forced a fumble which was recovered by Akin Ayodele. The Jaguars ran out the final 1:16of the game to preserve the victory.

JACK DEL RIO IN HIS SIXTH SEASON: JackDel Rio is in his sixth season as the Jaguars’ headcoach with a record of 48-39. Del Rio was namedto the post on January 17, 2003, becoming the sec-ond head coach in Jaguars history. Over the lastfive years the Jaguars rank tied for fifth in regularseason wins among the 32 NFL teams, with 43. In2007, the Jaguars posted an 11-5 regular seasonrecord to earn the second playoff berth in threeyears, in addition to the franchise’s first playoff winsince the 1999 season. The Jaguars defense hasthrived under the guidance of Del Rio as they rankfourth in the NFL over the past six seasons in yardsallowed (303.2) and fifth in points allowed (18.5)while the offense is fourth in rushing yards (133.6)and second in fewest turnovers (122).

Del Rio is now in his 23rd year in the NFL,his 12th as a coach. Del Rio spent 11 years as anNFL linebacker and had a standout college career atthe University of Southern California. Del Rio is one of three NFL head coaches (Jeff Fisher, Mike Holmgren) who graduatedfrom USC. Del Rio has learned from some of the best coaches in all of football. He was recruited to USC and played for John Robinson,and in the NFL he played under Bum Phillips, Jim Mora, Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Green. 10/ 5/08 vs. Pittsburgh L 21-26 The Jaguars lost a fourth quarter lead to Pittsburgh on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Rashean Mathis had a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown, his second interception return for a score this season. Second-year wide receiver Mike Walker recorded career-high receiving numbers as he finished with six receptions for 107 yards. Ben Roethlisberger hit Hines Ward with an eight-yard touchdown pass with 1:53 remaining as the Steelers outlasted the Jaguars 26-21. The Jaguars managed only 213 total yards, 38 on the ground,but held the lead late in the fourth quarter.

10/12/08 at Denver W 24-17 Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for a season-high 125 yards and two touchdownsand David Garrard threw for a season-high 276 yards as the Jaguars evenedtheir record at 3-3 going into their bye week. “BIG HEN” CLOGS UP THE MIDDLE: Defensive tackle John Henderson is regard-ed as one of the NFL’s top defensive linemen. Henderson has recorded 478 tackles(368 solo), 25.0 sacks, 128 quarterback pressures, 35 tackles for loss, four forced fum-bles and three fumble recoveries in 102 games Additional notes on Henderson include:

Henderson, the ninth overall pick in 2002, earned his first Pro Bowl appearance in2004 and returned in 2006. He was the highest-drafted defensive lineman ever by theJaguars and second defensive tackle drafted overall in 2002. In 2004, Henderson posted a career-high 98 tackles and 40 quarterback pressures

along with 5.5 sacks. He combined with defensive tackle Marcus Stroud in 2004 for 10sacks, the third-best mark in the NFL among defensive tackle tandems. Ranks fifth in team history with 25.0 sacks in 102 career games. Has three career

SPICER TAKES LONG ROUTE TO THE NFL: DE Paul Spicer leads the team with 17 quarterback pressures in seven games along with1.5 sacks. Spicer recorded a sack/forced fumble last week against Cleveland. Spicer led the team with 7.5 sacks in 2007 and finished theregular season with a sack in three of the last five games. Spicer picked up his first career postseason sack at Pittsburgh in the AFC WildCard Game. The 7.5 sacks tied for the most of his career (7.5, 2005) and ranked tied for ninth in the AFC. Spicer has 26.5 career sackswhich ranks fourth in team history. Spicer, who is in his ninth NFL season, spent portions of the 1998 season with the Saskatchewan RoughRiders of the Canandian Football League after being released by Seattle in training camp. He played two games with Detroit in 1999 beforesigning with the Jaguars prior to the 2000 regular season.

SENSABAUGH MAKES PLAYS IN RETURN TO ACTION: Safety Gerald Sensabaugh returned to action in 2008 after missing the final14 games of 2007 with a shoulder injury and is tied for the team-lead with two interceptions. Sensabaugh, who has started 15 of 41 gamesin four seasons, has started the last four games. Sensabaugh intercepted Vince Young in the season-opener at Tennessee in the secondquarter and returned it 23 yards to the Titans five-yard line to set up the Jaguars’ only touchdown. It was Sensabaugh’s third career inter-ception and first since Dec. 10, 2006 vs. Indianapolis. In the third quarter, he partially blocked a Craig Hentrich punt. On 10/12 at Denver,Sensabaugh picked off Jay Cutler on a deep pass intended for Brandon Marshall in the first quarter.

2008 FIRST ROUND PICK PILING UP THE PRESSURES: 2008 first round pick Derrick Harvey ranks second on the team with 15quarterback pressures through seven games including 12 in the last three games. Harvey, the eighth overall pick, recorded a team-high sixquarterback pressures at Denver on 10/12.

SMITH LEADS DEFENSIVE CHARGE: Daryl Smith is in his fifth season and has emerged as one of the NFL’s elite young linebackers.Smith ranks second on the team with 61 tackles and has led the team in tackles in three of the last four games. Smith also has a sack, oneforced fumble and three quarterback pressures. He finished with 16 tackles, one pass defensed and one forced fumble against Houston on9/28, the third-most tackles of his career. The 2004 second round pick has started 67 of 69 games and surpassed 100 tackles in threestraight seasons. He assumed the middle linebacker job the last two seasons with injuries to Mike Peterson and is starting on the outsideagain in 2008.

MARCEDES LEWIS COMING OF AGE: Tight end Marcedes Lewis finished with three receptions for a career-high 64 yards at Denver on10/12 including a career-long 30-yard touchdown reception and followed with three receptions for 34 yards last week against Cleveland.Lewis, who has a touchdown reception in two of the last three games, hooked up with David Garrard on a 24-yard touchdown receptionagainst Pittsburgh on 10/5. The 30-yard reception at Denver was the longest scoring reception by a Jaguar this season. Lewis has 13receptions for 185 yards with a team-high 14.2 average per reception.

MIKE WALKER HAS BREAKOUT GAME: Second-year pro Mike Walker produced career-high receiving numbers against Pittsburgh on10/5 as he led the team with six receptions for 107 yards, the first 100-yard receiving game of the season for the Jaguars. Walker had recep-tions of 32, 18, 18, 16, 14 and 9 yards and finished with a 17.8 average per reception. Walker had five receptions for 46 yards againstHouston on 9/28. Walker was inactive the last two games with a knee injury. He has played in only four career games after spending hisrookie season on injured reserve with a knee injury. Walker, 6-2, 208, was a third round pick in 2007 after playing four seasons at CentralFlorida with Denver’s Brandon Marshall. He played in all four preseason games in 2007 and finished with four receptions for 33 yards beforere-aggravating a knee injury in the preseason finale against Washington.

2007 ROOKIE REVIEW: The Jaguars had 11 total selections in the 2007 draft andeight of those players are still with the team including OT Andrew Carnahan on thepractice squad. First-round pick Reggie Nelson started 15 games at strong safety, tiedwith Kevin Hardy (1996) for the third-most starts in a season by a Jaguars rookie.Nelson set a team rookie record with five interceptions, tied for the most by a NFL rook-ie in 2007. The Jacksonville Jaguars' 2008 season is highlighted by threenationally televised prime time games on NBC, ESPN and NFLNetwork. GOAL IS POSTSEASON: The Jaguars were one of six teams that madethe playoffs in 2007 after failing to make the postseason the year before.That marked the 12th consecutive season in which at least five teams (outof 12) accomplished the feat. The Jaguars are looking to make consecu-tive trips to the postseason for the first time since 1999. In addition, theJaguars made the postseason twice in the last three seasons. 2008 POSITION ANALYSIS: Here is a position-by-position break-down of the Jaguars:

QUARTERBACKS (2) — David Garrard, a fourth-round pick in2002, is in his second season as the starter after emerging as one of theNFL’s top signal-callers in 2007. Garrard ranked third in the NFL with afranchise-record 102.2 passer rating as he threw 18 touchdown passesand only three interceptions. He directed an offense under coordinatorDirk Koetter that set the franchise single-season records for points (411,25.7), touchdowns (50) and touchdown passes (28). Cleo Lemonsigned as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason after spending thelast two seasons in Miami. Lemon started seven of nine games for theDolphins last season.

RUNNING BACKS (5) — Fred Taylor is in his 11th season withthe Jaguars after being selected in the first round of the 1998 draft.Taylor has the third-most rushing yards (10,981) by an active NFL run-ning back and ranks 18th all-time. He is the only player who remains onthe Jaguars roster from 1998. Over his 10-plus seasons in the NFL, hehas seven years with at least 1,000 yards and has scored 69 touch-downs. He led the team in 2007 with 223 carries for 1,202 yards andwas the only NFL player to have 100-plus rushing yards in five consecu-tive games as he played in his first Pro Bowl. Taylor and third-year proMaurice Jones-Drew give the Jaguars one of the NFL’s top runningback duos. Jones-Drew, who also serves as kickoff returner, ranksfourth in the NFL with 31 touchdowns (27 rushing, 2 receiving, 2 returns)the last two-plus seasons. Jones-Drew is the only player in the NFLwith 2,000-plus combined yards in each of the last two seasons. Inaddition, he is the only player in team history to record two career kick-off returns for touchdowns. Fifth-year pro Greg Jones re-signed withthe club in the offseason and has career totals of 257 carries for 869yards and nine touchdowns. He had a one-yard touchdown reception atTennessee in the season-opener and set up the game-winning field goalagainst Houston on 9/28 with a 22-yard reception in overtime. MontellOwens backs up Jones and excels on special teams, earning a rosterspot as an undrafted free agent in 2006 from Maine. Owens took adirect snap on fourth down against Houston on 9/28 and raced 41 yardsfor his first career touchdown on his first career rush. Seventh-roundpick Chauncey Washington earned a roster spot after leading the teamin rushing in the preseason with 39 carries for 115 yards and alsorecorded a team-high 12 receptions. Washington led USC in rushing hisfinal two seasons.

WIDE RECEIVERS (6) — The Jaguars used their 2005 first-round pick to select Matt Jones and he has recorded 139 career recep-tions for 1,847 yards (13.3 avg.) with 14 touchdowns in four seasons.Jones leads the team with 38 receptions for 455 yards in the first sevengames. He has recorded at least four touchdown receptions in threestraight seasons. Former first-round pick Reggie Williams is looking tohad a franchise single-season record 10 touchdown receptions in 2007,surpassing the previous high of eight set by Jimmy Smith in three differ-ent seasons (1998, 2000, 2001). The Jaguars added veteran JerryPorter in free agency. Porter has played in 108 games with 64 startsand signed with the Jaguars in the offseason after eight seasons withOakland. His career totals include 285 receptions for 3,945 yards and30 touchdowns. The Jaguars drafted Mike Walker (3rd round) in 2007and he missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury. Walker has12 receptions for 161 yards including his first career 100-yard receivinggame against Pittsburgh on 10/5. Nine-year veteran Dennis Northcutt isin his second season in Jacksonville after signing as an unrestricted freeagent from Cleveland. Northcutt, who also sees action as a punt return-er, has career totals of 333 receptions for 4,185 yards and 15 touch-downs along with a 10.4 punt return average. Troy Williamson wasacquired via a trade with Minnesota on February 29. Williamson, theseventh overall pick in the 2005 draft, started 22 games with the Vikingsand has 82 career receptions for 1,084 yards and three touchdowns.

TIGHT ENDS (3) —Former first-round pick Marcedes Lewis emerged as athreat in the passing game in 2007 as he finished with a career-high 37 receptions for391 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis was the 28th overall pick in 2006 but washampered by injuries throughout his rookie season. Second-year pro Greg Estandiaand fifth-year pro Richard Angulo return after seeing significant action in 2007.Sixth-year pro George Wrighster III, who is on the PUP list, has career totals of 92receptions for 815 yards and nine touchdowns.

OFFENSIVE LINE (9) — The Jaguars offensive line has had a different lookthe last month. Recently acquired Milford Brown and second-year pro UcheNwaneri were inserted into the lineup at the guard positions to replace injured veter-ans Vince Manuwai and Maurice Williams. Both Manuwai (knee) and Williams (biceps)suffered season-ending injuries in the season-opener at Tennessee and were placedon injured reserve. Brown has started 47 of 53 games in seven seasons and hasspent time with Houston, Arizona, St. Louis and Carolina. Veteran Tutan Reyes hasplayed in 45 games with 36 starts over eight-plus NFL seasons and started at rightguard the last two weeks. Center Brad Meester returned to the starting lineup lastweek after missing the first six games with a biceps injury suffered in training camp.The Jaguars have a solid replacement in eight-year veteran Dennis Norman.Norman has started at least one game for the Jaguars the last three seasons. TonyPashos anchors the right tackle spot where he has started 22 games in two seasonsin Jacksonville after signing as an unrestricted free agent from Baltimore in 2007.Khalif Barnes has started 48 games at left tackle since being drafted in the secondround of the 2005 draft. The club signed offensive tackle Charles Spencer on Sept. 4and placed Richard Collier on the reserve/non-football injury list. The Jaguarsresigned Chris Naeole on Sept. 17. Naeole spent six seasons (2002-07) with the Jaguars and started the first eight games in 2007 beforesuffering a torn quadriceps tendon at New Orleans and was placed on injured reserve.

DEFENSIVE LINE (9) — Ted Monachino was promoted to defensive line coach after spending the last two seasons as assistantdefensive line coach. The defensive line is anchored by seventh-year pro and two-time Pro Bowl selection John Henderson. Henderson isregarded as one of the best tackles in the NFL and has registered 25 career sacks in 102 games. Rob Meier has the ability to play everyposition on the line and he starts at tackle alongside Henderson. Meier ranks third in franchise history with 129 games played and has 20.5career sacks. Defensive end Paul Spicer has produced 18.5 sacks the last three-plus seasons, including a team-leading 7.5 sacks alongwith 41 quarterback pressures in 2007. Reggie Hayward has 35.5 career sacks and is looking to return to form after missing 19 games withinjuries the last two seasons. He recorded a team-leading 8.5 sacks in his first season with the Jaguars in 2005. The Jaguars added speedoff the edge in this year’s draft with first-round pick Derrick Harvey and second-round pick Quentin Groves. Harvey, the eighth overall pick,had 20.5 sacks in three seasons at Florida and recorded his first career interception at Tennessee in the season-opener. Groves recorded 26sacks in four seasons at Auburn and recorded a sack/forced fumble against Buffalo on 9/14 and split a sack against Pittsburgh 10/5. DerekLandri, who played in 13 games as a rookie at tackle, sees action in the defensive tackle rotation. Landri recorded a sack, interception andfumble recovery in the postseason win at Pittsburgh last season. DT Tony McDaniel impressed the coaching staff in the preseason aftermissing 12 games in 2007 with a broken wrist and he earned his first career start at Denver on 10/12 The Jaguars added former first-roundpick Jimmy Kennedy in free agency. Kennedy has played in 59 career games with 30 starts at tackle.

LINEBACKERS (6) — Mike Peterson returns from back-to-back season-ending injuries to man the middle. Peterson suffered atorn pectoral muscle in 2006 and missed the final six games in 2007 with a broken hand. He leads the team with 71 tackles after sevengames. Fifth-year pro Daryl Smith starts on the outside after recording 100-plus tackles for the third consecutive season. Smith has movedfrom the outside to the middle to replace Peterson the last two years. Justin Durant excelled as a rookie, leading the team with 31 postsea-son tackles in two games and he shares the other outside spot with third-year pro Clint Ingram. Ingram has started 26 games since beingselected in the third round of the 2006 draft. Third-year pro Brian Iwuh excels on special teams and adds depth in the middle. The Jaguarsselected USC linebacker Thomas Williams in the fifth round of this year’s draft and he sees extensive time on special teams.

DEFENSIVE BACKS (10) — The Jaguars secondary has a different leader in 2008 with the addition of defensive backs coachDonnie Henderson. Sixth-year pro Rashean Mathis is regarded as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks as he was named a starter for his firstPro Bowl in 2006. Mathis holds the franchise record with 23 career interceptions including two interceptions returned for touchdowns thisseason. Drayton Florence, an Ocala native, is starting at RCB after signing with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent from San Diego.Florence has played in 80 games with 47 starts and recorded 10 career interceptions. Brian Williams moved from cornerback to strong safe-ty. Williams, who has started 83 games in six-plus seasons, has registered 17 career interceptions including an interception in a team-recordthree consecutive games in 2007. 2007 first-round pick Reggie Nelson has emerged as one of the NFL’s top young safeties, setting a teamrookie record with five interceptions as he started 15 of 16 games. Gerald Sensabaugh returns from a season-ending shoulder injury in2007 that forced him to miss the final 14 regular season games and both postseason games. Sensabaugh has made 15 starts at strongsafety in three-plus seasons including last four games. Depth at safety is provided by veteran Pierson Prioleau. Prioleau is in his 10th NFLseason and has played in 120 games with 48 starts including at Denver on 10/12. The club added Brian Witherspoon as a rookie free agentand he also sees time as a returner. Eighth-year veteran William James was signed as a backup cornerback along with Omare Lowe. TheJaguars signed second-year defensive back Chad Nkang off PUP last week.

KICKERS/SPECIALISTS (3) — Joe DeCamillis is in his second season as the Jaguars special teams coordinator. Josh Scobee, afifth-round pick by the Jaguars in 2004, returns for his fifth season as the placekicker. Scobee has connected on 12 of 14 field goals in sevengames and leads the team with 51 points. Scobee hit game-winning field goals in consecutive weeks as he connected from 37 yardsagainst Houston in overtime on 9/28 and 51 yards at Indianapolis on 9/21. He missed eight games in 2007 after suffering a quad injury in thepregame warmups prior to the season-opener against Tennessee. Adam Podlesh is in his second season as the Jaguars punter after beingdrafted in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, the first punter taken overall and highest-drafted punter in Jaguars history. Joe Zelenka han-dles the long snapping duties for the seventh consecutive season.
