The Transformation of Adams World into Todays World

    THE W RLD THAT PERISHED

When Noah, his amily, and their cargo

o animals were saely aboard the Ark, the

Flood began.Thousands o miles o the earths crust

(surace rock plates) split apart along lines

traversing the globe. The mantle (hot rock

beneath) rose to ll the voids between

the splitting plates. When this 2,000F

(1,093C) rock contacted the cool sea-

water above it, the seawater fashed into

steam. This ormed a line o steam jets

along the boundaries o the plates (pos-sibly the ountains o the great deep).

    The immense and incredibly power-

ul steam jets shot tens o thousands o

    eet into earths atmosphere. Signicant

amounts o seawater were also lited into

the atmosphere. For several weeks, this

ell to the earth as intense global rain

    (possibly the windows o heaven).

The rising o the mantle through earthscrust also resulted in a temporary rise in

the global sea level, causing the oceans

    to food the continents.

    These simultaneous activities resulted

in the dramatic shiting o th e earths crust

    to produce todays seven continents.

Fountains and WindowsWithin the catastrophic plate tectonics model, heat was

rapidly lost rom earths outer core. This cooling resulted in

the earths magnetic eld quickly reversing during the Flood.

These magnetic reversals were expressed at the earths

surace as short periods o normal magnetization altern

with short periods o reversed magnetization. Illustra

13 show how the reversals were expressed as a z

stripe pattern on either side o the mid-ocean ridge.

Most secular and biblical geologists believe that all the landhas been together more than once. One o these supercon-

tinents is called Rodinia (rom the Russian word or moth-

erland). Although scientists continue to debate its exact

shape, when God spoke the dry land into existence on Day

3 o Creation Week (Genesis 1:910), He may have created a

    landmass similar to Rodinia.

    Rodinia

Flood PeriodThe worldwide Flood covered the entire globeover the highest mountains o that day

    by more than 15 cubits (up to 26 t [8m]) (Genesis 7:20).

Break-UpThe Flood began with a breakup o the

    ountains o the great deep and an openingo the windows o heaven (Genesis 7:11;

see below). This may have been the result

o the breakup o the original supercontinent

into huge plates o the earths crust. These

plates split, moved, and collided throughout

    the duration o the Flood.

    PangaeaThere is evidence that suggests

that, ater the breakup, the landagain smashed together, orm-

    ing another supercontinent called

    Pangaea. This temporary super-

    continent ormed and broke up

    entirely during the Flood.

Transitional PeriodStill during the food, Pangaea

broke apart, rst into Laurasiaand Gondwana and nally into

the continents we have today. At

the end o this period the Indi-

    an subcontinent slammed into

    the Eurasian plate, orming the

    Himalayan mountains.
