A PPLICATION
The Woodward Current to PressureConverter (CPC) is designed forpositioning steam and fuel valves
and/or the associated servos. A 4-20mA in/out signal is linearly andproportionally converted into ahydraulic output pressure. The CPCcan thus interface with anyelectronic control, such asWoodward NetCon® systems andthe Woodward 505 Control. Itconnects to pressure-operated servosystems and single-acting powercylinders. The CPC is suited fornew as well as retrofit applications.
DESCRIPTION
The CPC is an electrohydraulic pressureregulating valve, which consists of a valve, anactuator, a pressure sensor, and on-boardelectronics.
The electronics perform the signalconditioning by comparing the actual outputpressure with the command, which results in areference signal for the valve position. Thisreference signal is then compared with theactual position, resulting in a drive signal. Thedriver circuit then outputs the appropriatesignal to the actuator, which positions thehydraulic valve to the required position. Thevalve consists of two ports; one from supply tooutput, and one from output to tank. Byopening one of these ports, the outputpressure decreases or increases.
Two output signals are provided: a 4-20 mAsignal, representing the actual output pressure, and a relay output, indicating a malfunction of the CPC.
FEATURES
The anodized aluminum housing of the CPC,coupled with the cast, anodized aluminum topcover forms an EEx-d explosion-proof enclosure. This enclosure contains the printedcircuit board, the pressure sensor, and theactuator. The rotor of the actuator is directlycoupled to the one-stage hydraulic valve.
The construction of the hydraulic valve in theCPC tolerates contaminant particles up to40 µm.
Upon loss of power a return spring will forcethe output pressure to the drain pressure (failsafe).
The supply connection of the CPC is providedwith a 70 µm nominal, 105 µm absolute last-chance filter.
A brass cable gland is provided for access of thecable with electrical signals.
The CPC mounts to a manifold with astandard instrument mounting hole patternaccording to DIN 19213.
